LaParkaYourCar Posted March 26, 2003 Report Posted March 26, 2003 You know I never hear any opinions on Godsmack from this board. What does everyone think of them? I like them.
Guest swan Posted March 26, 2003 Report Posted March 26, 2003 I find 'em kind of boring. I don't mind listening to them when I'm working on my house or if they pop up on the radio, but I'd never pay to see them live or relax listening to them.
Guest snuffbox Posted March 26, 2003 Report Posted March 26, 2003 Everything since the first cd is worthless.
Guest Renegade Posted March 26, 2003 Report Posted March 26, 2003 They have about 3 above average songs. Otherwise they try to sound so much like Alice in chains its not funny.
Guest Choken One Posted March 26, 2003 Report Posted March 26, 2003 All the songs sound SO stupidly similar even Creed goes "Haven't I heard this one?". Godsmack were hearled as the next great rock band around 1997 but have lost alot of momentum thanks to poor albums and a "so-so" live performence record. Maybe Faceless might reinigte them or something...
Guest hardyz1 Posted March 26, 2003 Report Posted March 26, 2003 I still listen to the self titled disc now and then. Didn't care for anything off the second disc. I liked "I Stand Alone" but the new single "Straight Outta Line' is really nothing.
Zetterberg is God Posted March 26, 2003 Report Posted March 26, 2003 meh they're alright My sentiments exactly. They're decent nu-metal but nothing spectacular.
Guest Crux Posted March 27, 2003 Report Posted March 27, 2003 ::thumbs down:: Their songs are okay for about a week and then they just get irritating.
Guest TUS_02 Posted March 27, 2003 Report Posted March 27, 2003 They have about 3 above average songs. Otherwise they try to sound so much like Alice in chains its not funny. That's probably because they started off as an Alice in Chains cover band (Hence the name Godsmack, but you probably already knew that since you made the comparison) I really enjoy their music. Granted, they ARE really bland, but one of the better bland music out there. I was able to snag their new album and it is 10 times better then their second album. And I don't know where all the negativity about their concerts come from. I saw them live this past summer and they tore the place down.
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Posted March 27, 2003 Report Posted March 27, 2003 A blemish on the Massachusetts music scene. A blemish larger than the shitty emo bands. Now THAT says something. ...oh yeah, I hate Godsmack...
Guest Mindless_Aggression Posted March 27, 2003 Report Posted March 27, 2003 Generically okay. I'll admit, they fall into my guilty pleasure section. I'll never argue with someone who says they suck though because I can REALLY understand how you'd dislike them with a passion.
Guest mw679 Posted March 27, 2003 Report Posted March 27, 2003 I can take 'em or leave 'em. Seen them live, I thought they put on a good show. I loved the first album but after that....eh.
Guest whatitistoburn Posted March 27, 2003 Report Posted March 27, 2003 They suck live. That said, I liked "whatever", "keep away", "awake", and "i stand alone". Just not live. And is it just me of is "Time Bomb" a rip off of "Last" by nin?
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted March 27, 2003 Report Posted March 27, 2003 They're absolutely horrible. Boring, uninspired crapsounds where every song has the phrase "Go Away." Take your own advice, Sally.
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Posted March 28, 2003 Report Posted March 28, 2003 Yes, Choken. Even more than Staind. I can at least dig three Staind songs a little bit ("Outside," "It's Been Awhile," and "Mudshovel" all suck, but I can tolerate them), but only one Godsmack song ("Keep Away" for those keeping score). Agent is 100% correct. EVERY Godsmack song has the line "go away" or "keep away" or "stay away."
Guest nl5xsk1 Posted March 28, 2003 Report Posted March 28, 2003 Between Godsmack and Staind, I'm unsure which makes me more ashamed to be a Masshole. Although, I think Staind's connection with Durst and the jackasses of Limp Bizkit might give them the edge. Yes, definitely, Staind is more embarressing but both are complete and utter shite. Yes, shite.
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Posted March 28, 2003 Report Posted March 28, 2003 I dunno, because at least Aaron Lewis can both play a guitar and actually sing...
Guest Choken One Posted March 28, 2003 Report Posted March 28, 2003 However, I can't stand Staind Live since Lewis merely stands there holding his shirt tightly and looking consipated... I hope the new album abandons the BTC flow and returns to Dysfunctional attitude... Hopefully, He isn't still depressed about Mommy...
Guest Mindless_Aggression Posted March 28, 2003 Report Posted March 28, 2003 Aaron Lewis can as stated before at least sing pretty well. I give him at least a bit of credit, on BTC, he didn't pull a Korn and continue to sing about the same problems over and over again. He at least tried to do soemthing different. Fell flat on his face doing it, but he tried.
