Guest CanadianChris Report post Posted March 27, 2003 Not surprising. He wanted to start, and there wasn't anywhere else where he could start and still get paid.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted March 27, 2003 Kind of Sad to see an Legend fall low enough to Arizona. However, It finally shows that Arizona has brains and is TRYING to make $$$...
Guest the pinjockey Report post Posted March 27, 2003 Wasn't Marcel Shipp the one bright spot they had last year? Why would they replace him when they have about 18 other starting positions that they need to upgrade.
Guest Bosstones Fan Report post Posted March 27, 2003 As a lifelong, die-hard Cowboys fan, it sickens me to see Emmitt whore himself out to Ari-freakin'-zona. Come on Emmitt...give it a rest. You are FINSIHED as a premier running back. Why can't you just accept that instead of pissing on your legacy by signing with the Cardinals? I say that there's no way Emmitt gets to 20,000 yards (which is what he wants) with Arizona. In fact, I'll go one further and say that he won't get 1,500 yards in the two years he signed for. Mark it down... EDIT: I can't spell!
Guest phoenixrising Report post Posted March 27, 2003 Because having Emmitt will bring in more fans and more money. And maybe it will encourage Cardinal fans to support building a new stadium for them, although I'm not sure if the stadium measure has already passed or not. Guest El Satanico Report post Posted March 27, 2003 Marcel Shipp will still get a good amount of time. Emmitt gives Arizona a name to sell and something to get the fans to care.
Guest starvenger Report post Posted March 27, 2003 The worst part of this is that I'll be hearing a LOT about this from the resident Cardinals fan in my rotisserie league...
HurriShane 0 Report post Posted March 27, 2003 It's too bad the Cards and Cowboys aren't both in the NFC East together anymore. It would be interesting to see how the crowd in Big D reacts to Emmitt in a different uniform.

If it's in Dallas Emmitt would probably get cheered.

Guest Rob Van Dam Report post Posted March 27, 2003 arizona will be playing at dallas this season Another strange thing is Dallas will be playing Giants, Patriots, Jets, and Bucs this year, all teams who have been coached by parcells or almost coached by him
Guest alkeiper Report post Posted March 27, 2003 Isn't there some kind of special arraingement where the Cardinals play the Cowboys every year?
Guest starvenger Report post Posted March 27, 2003 Isn't there some kind of special arraingement where the Cardinals play the Cowboys every year? I wouldn't be surprised. It happens in hockey, where Toronto plays all the western Canadian teams at least twice at their home venues, as well as Detroit. And baseball has about 20,000 deals to keep certain interleague matchups (Jays-Expos, Yankees-Mets, White Sox-Cubs etc) intact.
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted March 27, 2003 This is just him putting a few more millions in the bank and just padding his stats a little (which Barry could've owned if he wanted to)
Guest alkeiper Report post Posted March 28, 2003 Hmm. Perhaps, deep down, he likes playing football as well.
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted March 28, 2003 I'm sure he does. I also think Smith could of signed with a better team if he would of waited.
Guest Polish_Rifle Report post Posted March 28, 2003 If I was a Cardinals fan, I would have rather they kept Jake "the Snake" Plummer.
Guest alkeiper Report post Posted March 28, 2003 I am a Cardinals fan, and I've just about given up at this point. Plummer threw too many interceptions.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted March 29, 2003 Plummer would've never been anything other than mediocre at best in Arizona. They can get other mediocre QBs for alot cheaper than Plummer would've made. Now David Boston...that's who the Cardinals should've tried harder to keep. Guest phoenixrising Report post Posted March 29, 2003 Also, fans in the Arizona area used to be big Dallas fans before the Cardinals got transplanted there, so the Dallas/Arizona games usually are the biggest draws of the season for Arizona.
