Guest The Man in Blak Report post Posted April 3, 2002 Well, I figure for my sake and for the sake of others, I'll just throw out the CDs that I have here at college, which should neglect about half of my collection. Besides, the rest just really suck and they don't deserve mention anyway. The Beatles - Rubber Soul The Beatles - Revolver The Beatles - Sgt. Guest Incandenza Report post Posted July 7, 2002 Considering I have approximately 300 CDs, and about a hundred of those are a reminder of my teenage years and stuff I no longer listen to, I'm not even going to bother putting mine up.
Guest Kinetic Report post Posted July 7, 2002 I conveniently left out all of the Butthole Surfers albums that I purchased as a teenager and have yet to successfully rid myself of. I think every Gwar and Marilyn Manson album I ever bought is still somewhere around here, too. I basically left out anything I was ashamed to still own.
Guest Incandenza Report post Posted July 7, 2002 Hey, there's some GWAR stuff among my 100, too. I will say one thing positive about that band: THEY never took themselves seriously, unlike current crappy costume rockers like Slipknot or Mudvayne.
Guest Kinetic Report post Posted July 7, 2002 I've mentioned it here before, but GWAR was my absolute favorite band on the planet for about three years. I had every album they made up to Carnival of Chaos and could probably sing along with most of those songs to this day. They were (and are) on a totally different level than Slipknot and their ilk, due to the fact that they weren't designed to appeal exclusively to disenchanted adolescent boys. I'm not entirely sure who GWAR's target market is but, from age 12 to 15, I was amongst that illustrious group.
Guest Incandenza Report post Posted July 7, 2002 I use to consider America Must Be Destroyed a masterwork. The title track was truly unsettling, and the power ballad parody, "The Road Behind," was fucking hilarious. In fact, I listened to the latter again not too long ago, and it's still rather amusing.
Guest Kinetic Report post Posted July 7, 2002 "Have You Seen Me?" used to be a real favorite with me and my maladjusted friends. It's weird how thing change, you know. If one of my current favorite bands released a song about kidnapping and raping children, I'd probably be taken aback just a bit.
Guest Incandenza Report post Posted July 7, 2002 Did you see any of their "movies?" I had--still do, I think--Skulhed Face--and, even though I was huge into GWAR at the time, I knew shit when I saw it.
Guest Kinetic Report post Posted July 7, 2002 The best of that group was "Tour De Scum." It's a concert video of them around 91-92, touring in support of Scumdogs of the Universe. Lots of blood and insane papier mache villains and everything. Oderus Urungus has this enormous phallus that ejaculates into the crowd for the better part of six minutes. I was really impressed with that at 13. I also had "Phallus In Wonderland," "Rendezvous With Ragnarok," and "Skulhedface"...all of which pretty much sucked. The way they overdubbed the music on the Ragnarok one really pissed me off, even then.
Guest Incandenza Report post Posted July 7, 2002 Yeah, I had Tour de Scum. I vividly remember the nun abortion. Good times....
Guest Kinetic Report post Posted July 7, 2002 Yeah, I had Tour de Scum. I vividly remember the nun abortion. Good times.... I pulled that one out of mothballs to watch with a girlfriend about two years ago, just for a laugh. Words cannot describe how much of a disaster that was. I ended up stopping it at about the third song, just to salvage my reputation.
Guest phoenixrising Report post Posted July 7, 2002 My CD rack has four sections - so I'll list by section. Sections are in my preferred order. Guest Incandenza Report post Posted July 7, 2002 UPDATE My original estimate of the amount of compact discs in collection was off. The number of CDs I have in my "Shit I Listen to Now" racks is roughly 270. Jesus. When you throw in the CDs from my teenage years that I do not listen to anymore, the number increases to about 350-370. That stuff rests in a couple of boxes I have in my closet, while my modern day collection takes up numerous racks of various sizes.

Guest Kinetic Report post Posted October 19, 2002 I contest that the only reason Incandenza has a bigger CD collection than I do is because he's older. With the rate at which I buy CDs, I'll be up there soon. I've got somewhere in the 225 area right now. That's in my A List. The crappy CDs I don't like are kept in a bag in my closet, but there are only about three or four of those left. They've been cannibalized by my real CDs due to broken cases. It's a shame, really.
