Guest MaxPower27 Posted March 30, 2003 Report Posted March 30, 2003 ::marks down September 2 on calendar:: Futurama AND 24?! On the same day?!
Guest Spaceman Spiff Posted March 30, 2003 Report Posted March 30, 2003 I'll get: --Futurama Season 2 --X-Files Season 8 But not for those prices. I'll have to look around the net first. I got X-Files Season 7 for $61 (shipping included) off eBay.
Guest MaxPower27 Posted March 30, 2003 Report Posted March 30, 2003 I'll get Futurama and 24 at Walmart. I saw the Futurama volume 1 at the mall for $39 the other day. The same day, I saw it at Walmart for 28.56 or something.
Guest Youth N Asia Posted March 30, 2003 Report Posted March 30, 2003 I'll pick up the Shield and Angel sets. I still need season 1 for both though.
The Dames Posted March 30, 2003 Report Posted March 30, 2003 I just finished The Shield Season 1. Even better than 24. I didn't think that was possible. Dames
Guest Youth N Asia Posted March 30, 2003 Report Posted March 30, 2003 I'll have to live with my The Shield tapes I taped off tv. But that's a show I know I'm going to watch repeated times down the road. So I'll get the dvds
Guest Dangerous A Posted March 30, 2003 Report Posted March 30, 2003 I just finished The Shield Season 1. Even better than 24. I didn't think that was possible. Dames Are you fuckin serious? I didn't think anything could beat Season one of 24. I bought The Shield Season one when it first cam out and have yet to watch it. I am killing myself attempting to watch all this good tv.
The Dames Posted March 30, 2003 Report Posted March 30, 2003 DA, I've been the biggest 24 advocate on this board for quite some time. The Shield may not be as suspenseful, but has better character development. Hell, I would go as far as to say that it has some of the best character development on TV. I would say that as a whole, The Shield beats 24. However, the first half of 24: Season 1 is untouchable....just the second half drags it down. Dames
Guest Dangerous A Posted March 30, 2003 Report Posted March 30, 2003 Agreed on the second half of 24 especially Spoiler (Highlight to Read): when Kim and Teri get kidnapped for a second time and Teri comes up with amnesia My dad was telling me that he loves The Shield's characters and that Michael Chiklis definitely deserved the Emmy for his performance. Once March Madness ends, I think I know what will be on tap for me-Shield Season One. I'll probrably wait until Season 2 of 24 comes out on DVD before I start watching that. I got Season One of 24 for Christmas and finished it around the middle of January and I don't want to pick up Season 2 in the middle. Plus on the DVD's the commercial breaks are not there, which is a plus.
Guest HollywoodSpikeJenkins Posted March 30, 2003 Report Posted March 30, 2003 Wait.... Season 1 of Dark Angel is out? Since when?
Guest Youth N Asia Posted March 30, 2003 Report Posted March 30, 2003 Wait.... Season 1 of Dark Angel is out? Since when? Dark Angel - The Complete Second Season $59.98 - October 21, 2003 Not till October.
Guest the pinjockey Posted March 30, 2003 Report Posted March 30, 2003 Wait.... Season 1 of Dark Angel is out? Since when? It isnt out. Season 1 comes out May 20th
Guest Star Ocean 3 Posted March 30, 2003 Report Posted March 30, 2003 Futurama is only $30 at Tower Records stores. How can two Futurama sets come out in one year, but Simpsons sets only once a year? Or every two years?
Guest Lil Naitch Posted March 30, 2003 Report Posted March 30, 2003 I bought 24 season 1, and I've only made it through the first disk. I guess I need to be in a mood for it or something.
Guest Mole Posted March 30, 2003 Report Posted March 30, 2003 Fox seems to have the best DVDs. Buffy comes out 6/10/03, correct Youth?
Guest wwF1587 Posted March 30, 2003 Report Posted March 30, 2003 Futurama and Family Guy for sure are mine
Guest ISportsFan Posted March 30, 2003 Report Posted March 30, 2003 Futurama, Family Guy, Simpsons, 24 are all mine. Of course, when Simpsons actually comes out I may be dead already, but whatever. Jason

Or every two years? Simple: Futurama has been cancelled for about a year and a half (Fox has simply been burning through the backlog of about 40+ episodes that have yet to be aired) while the Simpsons are still in production....
Guest Youth N Asia Posted March 30, 2003 Report Posted March 30, 2003 Fox seems to have the best DVDs. Buffy comes out 6/10/03, correct Youth? Last I knew that was the date. Sometime in June anyway. I'll get that the day it comes out.

I'd think that different people are used to put together a DVD package than create an episode, but I guess there's more to it. And the Futurama commentary must have been recorded quite some time ago, I thought they would have mentioned how the show came to be cancelled.
Guest MDH257 Posted March 31, 2003 Report Posted March 31, 2003 I believe FOX would like to put The Simpsons sets out more often, but the producers insist on being involved n the prodution of the DVD's. Well, they can only do that when they're not working on the show itself. That's why they only can get out two a year.
Guest teke184 Posted March 31, 2003 Report Posted March 31, 2003 Technically, it hasn't been cancelled... it's just not having any new episodes produced. This is the end result of Fox bending over the show and putting it in the 6:00 Sunday timeslot that gets pre-empted 95% of the time by football. They haven't said they won't make new episodes when they run out of the backlog, but the cast and crew have moved onto other things.

They arent even going to get ONE out this year from the looks of it, which is a shame because at this point there will be a new DVD format before they ever get to season 10 or so.. The X-Files is almost done on DVD, which is kinda crazy. I was hoping that the early seasons would go down in price some, but its not happening. And while X Files was one of my favorite shows, I'll watch it 10-15 times a week (Its on Sci Fi, TNT, and FOX in synd.) for free before I'll shell out $100 for it. Im going to preorder Buffy and 24. I got Buffy Season 3 for like $35 and 24 for $38 if off Amazon. Heck, I've gotten all 3 seasons of Buffy cheaper than 1 season of X Files probably.. I was going to get CSI but I've slightly turned sour to this seasons episodes for some reason..Season 2 was probably the best so far..
Guest areacode212 Posted March 31, 2003 Report Posted March 31, 2003 I wonder if the X-Files sets (one of the first TV shows to get the full-season DVD treatment) would have been priced lower if Fox had started releasing them after they had set the standard for (relatively) low-priced TV sets with the Buffys. I know rabid fans will buy them anyway, but unless you have a lot of disposable income, they're way out of the price range of the average person who just wants to check out what all the X-Files hype was about.
Guest Spaceman Spiff Posted March 31, 2003 Report Posted March 31, 2003 re: Futurama - Season 1 was released in Region 2 format last year. I can't imagine there was much to do to get a Region 1 set ready. So it's not like they started from scratch for 2 seasons of releases this year. And while X Files was one of my favorite shows, I'll watch it 10-15 times a week (Its on Sci Fi, TNT, and FOX in synd.) for free before I'll shell out $100 for it Check on eBay. As I said above, I got Season 7 (still in the plastic wrapping) for $61 ($55 + $6 shipping). You could probably find all/most of the previous ones for a comparable price.

Uh..I've seen them before, but I noticed they are from Hong Kong or something. I read they are like Region 0 so they would play here but thats not really the way I want to go.
Guest Star Ocean 3 Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 There's a crapload of bootleg stuff on eBay.

My Season 7 is Region 1. But, yeah, a lot of the cheap ones are from Hong Kong. Sometimes you get lucky, though. Just gotta keep looking.
