Kurt Angle To Miss Only 4-6 weeks?!

Recommended Posts

Guest bravesfan
I would think this would be considered a Medical BREAKTHROUGH...

Sure, this surgery is risky, but it's probably been ignored by the rest of the country, because the idea of vertabrae fusion surgery is not something that could cause panic among regular people. What I mean is, the surgery that Youngblood does is only considered "serious" to people in the professional wrestling spectrum, who knows it'll take about 16 months to recover from. In an everyday setting, what's the difference between Dr. Jho's proposed surgery and what Youngblood does?

From what I've read, I believe that this is the surgery proposed to Kurt...

If you use a search engine, you will see that "minimally invasive spinal surgery" is something that's already out there and practiced in different forms, just not something that will blow people's minds in its "medical discovery". It's simply another option. Not a cure for cancer, but ANOTHER OPTION.

Something like this isn't a medical breakthrough; a medical breakthrough will be a surgery that will allow Terrell Davis, who has a degenerative condition in both knees, to play football again.

Read up here "minimally invasive spinal surgery".

This is great news in all, but why didn't guys like Austin, Benoit, Scotty, Edge, Rhyno, etc. hear about this and now Angle does...pretty randomly I might add? I don't get it.

Angle's from Pittsburgh and the doctor actually contacted Angle.

Gotcha...I'd still be pissed off if I was the guys I mentioned above when they could of possibly been out for only 1-2 months, and they were out for over a year.

You guys should read this Article on WWE.com

Angle's Surgery

He talks in pretty good detail about how the surgery takes place and may even be better then the ones Austin, Benoit, Rhyno etc, had.

The dude at Puroresu Power said the surgeon has great credentials. (when they say ALTERNATIVE TREATMENT it makes my eyes roll but apparently this is really just that, an alternative way to do this)

i hope it works for the best...

I can't help but think that Angle kept getting second opinions untill he found one he liked. Hey, if it works, awesome, incredible news.

I just don't want to see Angle running Tourymon: USA in two years.

I thought the same thing when I read this report.

Dr. Jho sounds like he knows what he's talking about. However, I'd like to see Kurt get one more opinion before he decides which type of surgery is best for him. Just because one surgery is less evasive and has a shorter recovery period doesn't mean it's the best choice.

Slightly off topic, I read this in the Kurt article and it had me in stitches:

Right now, we’ve got Edge out. We’ve got part-timers in (The Rock) and Stone Cold, and even the Undertaker to a certain degree isn’t on the road full time, which he deserves not to be because, let’s face it, he’s been in the business 15 years.”

Damn, SCSA is a "part-timer". A Taker doesn't deserve to be on the road full time because he's a 15-year veteran? He's an employee, he's supposed to work to earn his keep.

I don't know about this miracle alternative to fusion. I mean if you could choose between career ending surgery to a 6 week recovery period, it would be pretty difficult to think logically. He's putting his life on the line here and I hope he makes the right decision for himself and his family and not just because its right for business.

If his recovery time turned out to be only 4-6 months I could buy it but 4-6 weeks? I think Kurt is taking way too big of a risk here. Even if he cuts down his in ring time when he comes back he's really taking a chance. Maybe Kurt figures he can get away with not having to take neck bumps anymore and he'll be okay then. Hell I think he might as well just take the extra time to come back just for the sake of taking time off.

Scott Hall had the surgery and while he might not be the best person to give advice he does seem ast least physically OK to me. Of course I never really cared about Scott Hall and I doubt I'd notice if he was fucked up, but if Angle can get the surgery and come back in 4-6 weeks instead of possibly never and HE feels that he can come back then I'm all for it. I do though also agree that he should get a 3rd opinion, because it's his neck and better safe then sorry.

The mere fact that Scott Hall likes this guy makes me distrust him immediately.

Hall has had the surgery. Just because he has had addiction problems does not discount from the fact that the surgery was a success.

The alternative surgery may work, but is it a long term solution or will Angle have to get the more traditional surgery down the line.
