Guest Youth N Asia Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 Is anyone else very tired of this? We had Austin/Mcmahon a bunch of times (and multiple Mcmahons). Austin/Foley. And now Austin/Bischoff. I know his gimmick is the whole "fuck authority" thing...but there is not one new thing they can do with this. It's been done to death already. Why not just let him run in a legit feud with a wrestler. They've done the general manager deal to death as it is. And adding Austin to the mix does nothing for me. I know they've been out of new ideas for a while...but this is just lazy and uncreative.
Guest ViciousFish Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 Austin hasn't been entertaining for a long time. There was about 6 weeks as a psycho and besides that well before he went for his surgery.
Guest Brian Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 He's going to SmackDown. There is no management storyline. They need the main event, Austin wants to wrestle, and he puts over the people who are qualified (Brock and Benoit).
JasonX Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 They need the main event, Austin wants to wrestle, and he puts over the people who are qualified (Brock and Benoit). Or, in more realistic terms: Austin won't have to share the spotlight with Rock, HHH, Golberg, Jericho, and HBK and can easily convince the writers to make Benoit, Eddy G, and the rest of the SD 6 his personal bitches while hobnobbing with the UT and plotting revenge against Brock Lesner in terms of making Lesner job like a bitch to him....
Guest Brian Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 Lesnar's going to be one of the first people he puts over, and he pretty much has to. Remember, he was willing to lose given the right environment, not a throw-away match on RAW in the middle of the build-up that would soon be forgotten.
Guest fazzle Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 Remember, he was willing to lose given the right environment, not a throw-away match on RAW in the middle of the build-up that would soon be forgotten. Right, but ideas of what the "right environment" are will vary greatly. According to the Raw article, IIRC, he still thinks he should be the last guy Brock beats. Sorry Steve, that time has passed, it passed a while ago.
JasonX Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 Lesnar's going to be one of the first people he puts over, and he pretty much has to. Remember, he was willing to lose given the right environment, not a throw-away match on RAW in the middle of the build-up that would soon be forgotten. Yeah right. Austin puts NO ONE over and the only way you get any sort of rub from Austin is by becoming his personal bitch ala Angle...
Guest Brian Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 He is the last guy. What they're probably doing is waiting until the first split show so they have a draw. The RAW match would have been a poor booking decision.
JasonX Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 Did he not put rock over last night? He should have put the Rock over at WM 17 instead of WM 19. Too little too late....
Guest Lord of The Curry Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 Austin putting Rock over was punishment. Austin won't put Benoit over like he put Rock over, now that he's done his token job he should be going on quite the winning streak.
Guest Sakura Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 He's going to SmackDown Do you know this for a fact or are you just speculating?
Guest Brian Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 Rock was leaving for Hollywood, Austin was being asked to end a hugely successful face run and carry the company for the next couple of months. What the fuck would have been the sound business move? It was the right time, just the wrong circumstances.
Guest Brian Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 Austin's spending the night and he's the only one not to check out of the Grand Hyatte sans management, so take it for what its worth.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 I just want to say that the idea of Austin jobbing at Mania 17 is the dumbest thing I've read in a long while (but I haven't clicked the "Why HHH and HBK going over was right" link yet).
JasonX Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 I just want to say that the idea of Austin jobbing at Mania 17 is the dumbest thing I've read in a long while (but I haven't clicked the "Why HHH and HBK going over was right" link yet). How the whole thing should have worked at WM 17: Rock beats Austin to retain. Austin, post match attacks Rock with Vince to do the heel turn. Next night on Raw we get Austin/Rock for the belt in a cage match which ends with HHH coming out to cost Rock the belt. Austin wins and does a post-match beatdown on Rock to cover for him being away from the WWF that completes the heel beatdown.
Guest fazzle Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 And then everyone would bitch about having the title change hands on free TV, after just paying for WM.
Guest Brian Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 Austin was making the comeback. It was the main event of Mania. I'm not even going to get into the whole thing, this is stupid on so many levels.
Guest Crucifixio Jones Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 SCSA couldn't really "put over" The Rock at WMX7 anyway considering The Rock was already a bona fide main eventer by that time. No one said SCSA won't put over established guys. His problem is that he won't help make new stars. It's like you have to be in "his league" for him to even consider working a program with you.
Guest NoCalMike Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 Well if there is truth to the rumor that Nash is petitioning McMahon to take over Kurt Angle's #1 heel spot on Smackdown, maybe they are sending Austin to Smackdown to feud with Nash. *UGH*
Guest Mulatto Heat Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 And where exactly did you hear this rumor?
Guest NoCalMike Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 And where exactly did you hear this rumor? that is a good question. DangerousA told me at work, and he is pretty reliable(meaning he doesn't spout out shit by heresay, he usually ALWAYS reads it from observer) I haven't looked around to where he read it, but I will ask him tomorrow unless someone else finds it first.
Guest Mulatto Heat Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 http://www.liveaudiowrestling.com/wo/news/...lt.asp?aID=7045 Here Meltzer says that he "expects Nash involved with the Michaels-Jericho program". Not to say that you or DangerousA are wrong, but why would Dave say two different things?
Guest Trivia247 Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 In order for Goldberg and Austin to Coexist on the same Promotion they have to separate them unless the same paradox that would threaten a Brock Batistia confrontation would erupt.
Guest THE MIGHTY THOR Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 Austin is not a draw anymore and he is not putting anybody new anytime soon, hopefully he retires soon and it will be one ego less that's killing WWE.
cawthon777 Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 What's with the Austin hate? Some of you guys are going off on him like his name is Triple H. Austin did a clean job at Mania - which surprised me. I don't personally have a problem with Austin / Bischoff since there is a backstory already there. If he jumps to Smackdown!, great. There are a lot of great talents over there that would see their career elevated a great deal by working with Stone Cold. You guys forget that Austin himself became a name from his feud with Bret Hart. Did he ever beat Bret on TV? No. Did it matter? No. Was anyone saying Austin was Bret's bitch? No. I'm all for him doing the eventual job to a Brock or Benoit, etc but even if he comes out and picks up a few wins I don't see how it kills their heat. To go off on a tangent - Jericho, on the other hand, is a whole different story. He lost to Triple H last year. That was the equivalent of Austin / Hart at Mania XIII. Although I enjoyed the match at this year's Mania a great deal, I believe it would have been better to have Jericho go over in the blowoff (ala Austin / HBK at Mania XIV).
Yuna_Firerose Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 Austin is not a draw anymore and he is not putting anybody new anytime soon, hopefully he retires soon and it will be one ego less that's killing WWE. Well said. I'll admit that SC was the thing that got me started watching, but once I started noticing some of the other guys, my interest in SC just faded. My memory is fuzzy, but I think Christian and DDP [whose site isn't working...the hell?!] were some of the guys I started noticing...but they didn't start their feud till February, right? I'm giving myself a headache. I didn't start liking Stevie till way later in year during his 'relationship' with Jazz, and I still hate myself for not taping all of his promo with Flair. Why the hell I had a crush on Hall and Nash I'll never know, but I think that's when I started to hate SC. What annoyed me the most about that whole nWo era was that they were basically SC's bitches, which most likely killed the stable.
