Guest HartFan86 Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 If Bret doesn't blame him, and has said so many times before, I don't understand how anyone else can. You must not keep updated with Bret, then.
Guest HartFan86 Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 Then if "marketing" is the answer, why do they have to go hire some egotistical piece of shit instead of marketing a wrestler already under contract? Right.
Guest Downhome Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 If Bret doesn't blame him, and has said so many times before, I don't understand how anyone else can. You must not keep updated with Bret, then. Sure I do, he's stated that in many interviews ever since it happened.
Guest Brian Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 The invulnerability is already gone, the gimmick has a WCW-taintedness to it, and he's not the big guy in the small pond anymore who was new and fresh. It's not something that can be re-created.
Guest treble charged Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 Then if "marketing" is the answer, why do they have to go hire some egotistical piece of shit instead of marketing a wrestler already under contract? Right. That's not what I was saying. I simply stated that Goldberg was over due to the WCW marketed him. I have no clue why Vince would rather sign him than push someone who was already under contract, he's probably just hoping that he can capture some of his WCW heat.

You must not keep updated with Bret, then. Sure I do, he's stated that in many interviews ever since it happened. From what I've heard, is Bret is somewhat bitter because Goldberg won't take responsiblity of the Goldberg's kick, the figure four where Goldberg wouldnt' catch Bret's leg and let him drop on his head, and whatever else he did. Can you blame him?
Guest Kahran Ramsus Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 I'd just do what WCW did. Squash RVD every week? I can live with that.

Can you blame him? Well I'm sure he has some hard feelings, but he HAS said (after he cooled down after everything) that looking back on it, that he does not blame Goldberg and instead does blame WCW. I heard him say it in a live interview a few months ago, and if I can find it I'll share it with you.
Guest Brian Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 Bret cooled down with everyone a while back. Earlier he was blaming Goldberg for not protecting him, now he's blaming WCW for putting him out there with Goldberg and having him wrestle past that.
Guest Downhome Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 Hell, just after a quick net search I found this written interview with Bret... SG: What is your position on Goldberg? BH: I like Billy. It was a pay-per-view, and I know there was no intention. I just hope it gets better. http://www.gerweck.net/brethartinterview.htm ...he's not stupid, he knows it was an accident. I'll find more if you wish, or even the audio I know for a fact that I heard. He also states over and over, that one of his most favorite things he did in WCW was his working with Goldberg and doing the infamous "steel plate" angle.
Guest HartFan86 Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 I knew Bret was cool with Vince after the stroke...didn't know that he cooled down with Goldberg. But still....I'd imagine he'd be more pissed off with WCW/Goldberg then Vince/Earl/HBK. At least he still had a carrer after the screwjob.
Guest Nevermortal Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 I admit, I marked when 'Berg came out. But I'm sure that I'll grow sick of him eventually.

Listen, I'm not trying to be an ass, but I do follow this stuff very closely, I listen to the interviews and read the reports, and do what I can to be kept up to date on what really is going on the best I can. Fuck it, if I was Bret I know I would be a man of rage against Goldberg, but he is not, and I fucking RESPECT Bret for not blaming it on Goldberg, and instead doing so on WCW, where the blame does belong.
Guest Brian Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 Let me tell you something. I'm a steam engine that runs on power. That power is Goldberg. Goldberg played the pig skin game powered by goldberg. If Goldberg wasn't the #1 human being in the world then he wouldn't be powered by Goldberg. You are all fools, kneel before Goldberg and the power Goldberg uses, that is Goldberg. When this steam engine comes down that track you better get out of the way of the Goldberg powered locomotive. I WILL NEVER DIE! GOLDBERG LIVES FOREVER THANKS TO THE POWER THAT IS GOLDBERG!!!
Guest Brian Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 I took it off the DVDVR board. Too funny to leave alone. Posted by the Man himself.
Guest Will Scarlet Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 I am sorry, but I just see this whole thing blowing up in the WWE's face. At least the Rock's overselling of the spear should be entertaining. With that said, fuck Goldberg.
Guest Smell the ratings!!! Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 by the way, the reason WCW could just let Goldberg run over everyone was because WCW's upper card was mostly composed of anal drip like Luger, Hogan, Nash, Giant, and my personal most despised wrestler ever, DDP. WWE isn't going to just let useful people like Brock, Austin, Rock, Benoit, Booker etc... get squashed to put over a turd. PS - I bet they feed him Steiner though EDIT: fuck goldberg
Guest nl5xsk1 Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 Goldberg = tard. He's like the kid with down syndrome on that old ABC show 'Life Goes On' (let's see if anyone remembers that ... I doubt it). Corky ... married Becca ... played by Chris Burke, who was actually a better actor than most people in today's WWE. And I'll be SO pissed if Goldberg gets any kind of push after hearing about how McMahon won't push any wcw stars. If he gets a push after Booker's been buried for two years, it's just another reason for me to hate Goldberg. And Vince. And the whole state of wrestling right now.
Guest notJames Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 …anal drip… You just made my day. Fuck Goldberg.
Guest SP-1 Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 He's wrestled in the LAND of workrate for a while, correct? It's possible he's learned nothing, but it's ALSO possible that he's picked up a few things over there too. So wait and see before moaning about his in-ring stuff now. If I'm wrong on his Japan career, let me know. Now, my personal opinion on Goldberg is that I don't have one. This is WWE and I wipe the slate clean. Rock seems to think it's a good idea so I'll see what happens. As for Goldberg and money, if you read the WWE.com review, he blatantly says he's doing this for little kids. As corny as it sounds, I believe him considering the charity work he does. Paint him as an evil bastard if you wish but I have a hard time doing it considering that. I don't mark for him . . . I mark for what his character is and what it's become in the wrestling pantheon. I mark for the story and his place in it. And until I have reason not to, I will continue to do so.
Guest Brian Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 From the tapes, all her's done is shooter style gimmick where he's been totally protected. Wasn't goldberg the one criticizing WWE for marketing to little kids?
Guest SP-1 Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 From the tapes, all her's done is shooter style gimmick where he's been totally protected. Wasn't goldberg the one criticizing WWE for marketing to little kids? Then it's entirely possible he's going to suck. Or just do what he's always done. If anyone can build a good match around that particular gimmick, it'd be Rocky I would think. Because Rocky's all about the showboating and emotional timing too. So it may still be good come Backlash but the credit may be Rock's, in the end. If he did, I missed it. But that doesn't mean anything because I never kept up with Goldberg interviews.
Guest Flyboy Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 Oh TAG~! Back off my line, bub. ... Fuck Goldberg, too.
Guest KingOfOldSchool Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 Chalk me up as another member of the 'Fuck Goldberg' group.
TheFranchise Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 Fuck HHH. Oh, sorry, wrong thread. Fuck Goldberg.
Guest Brian Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 Hey, the hate doesn't have to be mutually exclusive.
