Guest cynicalprofit Report post Posted April 4, 2003 That was so not a proper dvd, id say it was more of a fireman's carry into a on the side suplex variant, or something like that(im not the greatest person with move names so if its not a side suplex, help me out here). A proper DVD is head first into the mat. I know WWE policy forbids that, but couldnt they have atleast made up a better name for it and not lie and call it something its not. I mean the Cenadriver, or the 187, or something rap related would certainly add to the character.
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted April 4, 2003 It's a "safe" DVD. They should call it the "FU" like Cena called it before.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted April 4, 2003 I thought it WAS thr F-U.
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted April 4, 2003 The announcers haven't referred to it as the "FU"
Guest Dace59 Report post Posted April 4, 2003 Sometimes a bump makes the move, sometimes it doesnt. A DVD can be a shoulders bump or a flat back bump. Just like an MDII.
Guest Lightning Flik Report post Posted April 4, 2003 (edited) Meh. Death Valley Driver hitting the neck or back isn't bad, it's just a variation of it. It still looks good. Well, I guess Dace beat me to saying this. Oh well. Edited April 4, 2003 by Lightning Flik
Guest humongous2002 Report post Posted April 4, 2003 That is the legendary FU, no doubt about it.
Guest RollingSambos Report post Posted April 4, 2003 A proper DVD isn't head-first into the mat...a proper DVD is landing on your shoulders ala a German suplex with your head tucked so that it appears that you are being planted head-first. I consider Cena's version to be a DVD.
Guest Steviekick Report post Posted April 4, 2003 What was he using when it was the "Killswitch"? If he used a move that sounded anything reminiscent to the band Killswitch Engage, I am now a Cena mark
Guest Trivia247 Report post Posted April 4, 2003 the Safer DVD is actually what the WWF did before compacting the wrestler's body atop the shoulders and grip him tight then take the side drop holding him still in the process. Cena seems to really drop him on the side turn.
Guest notJames Report post Posted April 4, 2003 What was he using when it was the "Killswitch"? That was a spinning sit-out uranage, sort of. Kinda like a Blue Thunder Bomb. Starts out like a back suplex, then he twists the guy around into a sitting Rock Bottom (or the Bronx Bomb that DeVito of the Baldies used). Speaking of the DVD, isn't Tommy Dreamer still using it as a finisher? I always thought there was an unspoken rule about duplicating finishers. I guess it doesn't matter until we see Dreamer use something else, because if there was a choice, management would most likely go with the guy with the big push. That would assume that either Tommy Dreamer wrestles, or that if he wrestles he'll actually win. Not that I hope he doesn't but he tends to finish alot of matches on his back. He's almost like a new millenium version of the Brawler.
Guest Ram Report post Posted April 5, 2003 I'm not Banky or anything, but with the addition of the DVD, Cena is one of my favorite all around wrestlers. Taker better job, and he better sell.

I don't like the fact that it will happen, but I'm quite sure it will. And I'm willing to accept it. Edited April 5, 2003 by Lightning Flik

Cena will probably be squashed for most of the match too. Fucking Taker. Go back to RAW.
Guest cynicalprofit Report post Posted April 5, 2003 If taker is as over as he thinks he is, 1 job, for the first time in, oh he last few years, surely could not hurt him. Unless of course he wasnt as over as he thinks he is....MUHAHAHAHAHA! Jesus fucking christ, if Angles still around he'll be putting over David Flair when/if he ever becomes as good as his father. Of course David be 45 then, but Angle will still job to him.
Guest AndrewTS Report post Posted April 5, 2003 I would love if Taker "pulls an Austin" and no-shows the tapings because he refuses to job to Cena. I would not miss him one bit. Then they could stick Nathan Jones in his spot for his first and last WWE TV match before sending him to rot in OVW.

I'm more in favor of it being called the "Trickle down Thugonomics" You know, Cena's probably gonna finish Taker off with the DVD...and Taker was once hailed as coming from Death Valley. Oh, the irony.
Guest subliminal_animal Report post Posted April 7, 2003 Call it "Cena of the Crime" or the "Crime Cena." That would be most excellent.
Garth 0 Report post Posted April 8, 2003 That would be a cool name for it, although it would be funny if he called a regular dvd "basic thugonomics" and he has a top rope dvd andcalls it "complicated thuganomics" lol
Guest Dace59 Report post Posted April 8, 2003 And it have anything to do with Thug 'culter' (Not that it really is one) makes me hate that idea. Still, the art of balance.
Guest Gary Busey Report post Posted April 8, 2003 I'm not sure of the history of the death valley driver. I'm guessing it originated in Japan or Mexico and has another name. Did the American term for it, the Death Valley Driver, originate with Saturn in WCW (or ECW)? That would kind of be his legacy from his stay in the Big 3. I remember when Godfather used to do the move several years ago, and they referred to it as the DVD before finally using the Pimp Drop. I thought it was cool they acknowledged it as the DVD even though it was from another organization.
Guest Dace59 Report post Posted April 8, 2003 The Death Valley Driver came from Japan. It's original name is Death Valley Bomb. Invented by Etsuko Mita. She like many other Joshi stars invented a lot of stuff in wrestling, and used it before the men did. DVD is just a translation thing.
