Guest HartFan86 Report post Posted April 4, 2003 Ever since I saw this match for the first time as a mark, this part didn't make much sense. With about 15 minutes to go, Bret dumps HBK to the outside, and HBK's foot catches Jose in the head. Bret then goes outside, and whips HBK into Jose again...then proceeds to chew him out, RIGHT in his face after Jose gets up, then the match goes on like nothing. Was it just Bret trying to get over as a heel in the match, some heat between the two, or nothing?
cawthon777 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2003 LOL Good job of overanalyzing, Bobby. Bret was being the down-to-business champion that didn't like Jose in the way of his match.

Guest That 1996 Guy Report post Posted April 11, 2003 I saw this PPV just the other day LIVE. Let me just say that this has set the pace for future Wrestlemanias to come, an awesome show. I too noticed that Bret mouthed off Jose and even though it was in charecter, I loved it. However, something tells me we won't be seeing the Hitman for a while, seeing as he just lost his belt to HBK. I wonder what lies ahead?
Your Paragon of Virtue 0 Report post Posted April 11, 2003 ^^^LAME^^^ I too think you overthought it, going with the instinct of evert smart mark to overanalyze a situation and assume that there are politics behind it. It was just a simple heel thing for him to do during the match, put some more heat on himself. That's it.

Guest PhantMan Report post Posted July 25, 2003 Shawn didn't hit Jose. He hit the timekeeper.
Guest godthedog Report post Posted July 25, 2003 he hit the timekeeper with a superkick, but when he took his trademark bump from the turnbuckle to the floor, his leg quite clearly hit jose in the head.
Guest HellSpawn Report post Posted July 25, 2003 Recently I got the HBK DVD and looking at the Ironman match the same question came to me, I asked that to SK and he said that it wasnt any animosity between Bret and Jose. I think it was something like... A) real heat between them. B) some kind of work from Bret, that way he could say HBK won because Jose was there coaching him and that way is, at least in some way, easier to beat him. Guest The Old Me Report post Posted July 26, 2003 I'm pretty sure it was just a work, to help get Bret over as the heel in the match.
