I heard the tickets for that show are priced WAY too high.

I downloaded it a while back. It is an OK match. Definitely worth watching for free but not as good as I was expecting considering who the participants were.

1. What is the equivalent in US dollars?

2. Have any matches been announced yet?

3. What is the best tape to check out for someone interested in FWA and what matches are on it (I am familiar with Williams, Fleisch & Storm thru ROH).

I think I've seen that ladder match. The show would be worth getting for that match alone.

Just overlook the GREEN PLASTIC TRAY OF DEATH. That was, how shall we say it... somewhat stupid.

Oops. A quick check with the guy who had the tape says I haven't seen that match at all. The match I was talking about was a Jody Fleisch/Jhonny Storm match from WrestleExpress. My bad.

I've been to every major FWA show for the last year plus.

It's a great promotion, with a strong emphasis on working ability, whilst still allowing gimmicks to be worked in (Andy Simmonz) and occasional hardcore action (Ulf Herman.)

Amongst the non-British workers to have been involved in the FWA are...

Christopher Daniels

Kendo Ka Shin (reigning AJPW Junior Heavyweight Champion since April 2002.)

Steve Corino

Eddie Guerrero

Jerry Lynn

A J Styles

Juventud Guerrera

Sabu

Nova

Chris Chetti

Dan Severn

Little Guido [Nunzio]

Ballz Mahoney

Brian Christopher

Ulf Herman (works every show for FWA these days)

(Former WCW wrestler Dave Taylor has also appeared.)

One of the FWA trainees, James Tighe, was also invited to a WWE try-out camp recently.

Oh, and Nikita is a damn hot babe, who can also work a match quite well.

The tapes to get are definitely the British Uprising ones. I have both parts, and they're great.

I also have...

FWA Revival (Dynamite Kid makes a special appearance at the end of this.)

FWA No Surprises IV

FWA When Thunder Strikes

FWA Episodes 1-4

FWA Episodes 5-8

FWA Episodes 9-12

FWA Episodes 13-16

FWA Episodes 21-24

Brilliant promotion - definitely worth checking out.

Cheers - A.

Its been ages since I have been on this forum but I'm back.

I am a big follower and as some of the forum regulars may remember, I do most of the FWA reviews for The Sun Online.

On the whole the FWA is a very good promotion but sometimes I do think it is overrated somewhat. The shows are nearly always very entertaining. Good matches are the norm. But there a few criticisms.

-Rely on the same workers whenever they need to pull something out of the bag. For example a show in december called season's beatings had a round robin tournament featuring Jody, Jonny, Doug and AJ Styles. Good wrestlers but they took up six matches on an 8 match show which left little time for inexperienced wrestlers to get some time. Pretty short sighted for a group that considers themselves forward looking. They also cut off thier nose to spite their faces sometimes. For example not employing James Mason because of a personal difference between him and alex shane, ignore stuff like that - we want the best wrestlers at the shows.

Every time they put on a show it is labelled the best british show ever (or something like that). They have a distinct lack of main event wrestlers. They rely on Jody and Jonny and Doug to main event pretty much every show, and you can add jerry lynn to that list too. Again good wrestlers but all have other commitments abroad and if they have to leave for any sustained period of time then they struggle to replace them because nobody else really has the nescessary experience.

Also, if you say anything negative regarding the FWA then the fans blindly argue with you no matter what it is, or acuse you of 'not supporting british wrestling'.

This post has been suprising ly negative because I am an FWA fan and go to all their shows and enjoy them. I think they are moving forward as a company. But I just had to have that littl rant.

Some fair comments there.

Regarding the lack of main event wrestlers, I think they're still in a position of building wrestlers up, despite the promotion running for 4 years.

Alex Shane, when healthy, can be considered a main eventer.

Flash Barker has main evented a few times too.

Paul Birchill most likely will become a main eventer. (The key here is that the slow build has been proven to work.)

The feature matches need to rely on the biggest names, because they will draw in the fans and increase the revenue. More revenue means more money for the FWA Academy (new talent!) and bringing in name value stars from abroad.

Personally, I'm confident that more main eventers will come about through the years, particularly with the FWA Academy having produced the likes of James Tighe, Hade Vansen and Jack Xavier.

Cheers - A.

Hell yeah Ive heard of the FWA. Ive been pimpin them for a while on this board now :)

I honestly believe they are one of the best promotions in the world right now. And I can thoroughly recomend anyon epicking up British Uprising. Click here to buy it (PAL format).

As far as James Mason goes, I read recently that him and Alex have been getting on lately, and we may soon see him in the FWA.

I believe that the price for FOH has gone down to £55 due to an un expected booking fee with Ticket master. It sounds like a lot of money, but the York Hall provides a great view no matter where you are, and you could easily pick up £10 tickets and have a great view of the action. £10 for the atmosphere that the Uk fans will provide on that night will be well worth it.

Speaking of the UK fans I think they are a big part of the FWA. Curry, you make a good point when you talk about their blind loyalty, but the fans at FWA shows are pretty damn smart, and provide a very unique atmosphere that Jerry Lynn has compared to the ECW fans of old.

I hope that the FOH show forces fans accross the water to take note of the FWA more. They really are an excellent promotion and provide some of the best wrestling around these days.

I see your point, Curry, about lack of main eventers. But take nothing away from Johnny, Jody and Doug, they fill that role very well. I dont think this will be such a problem in the future either. The link with XPW means that Jerry Lynn is become more of a perminant, and Birchill is bound to be pushed all the way to the main event. I can see a monster puch for James Tighe on the way soon as well. Which will give th emiaon event plenty of new bloos.

Just for fun, what do some of you guys from accross the pond think of the FWA? How well known is it, and what is the general opinion of it?

I've only seen one FWA match (Williams vs. Fleisch) and I was very impressed by both guys, especially Doug. Great stuff.

And where did you guys download Guerrero vs. Williams? I looked for it Kazaa a while back and couldn't find it.

Im not sure where you can d/l it from, but im pretty sure it will be a clipped version if you can get hold of it. The show (Revival) was never released on tape, and the only version of it you can get hold of, is from the heavily clipped Bravo show of the event.

While, I wasnt there live, I can practically guarantee that the taped version wont do the full match justice.

Like I said, Yes. But they are likely heavily clipped. :(

Actually, SST were selling copies of Revival at either Crunch or New Frontiers. Don't know if it's a different version to the on on Bravo, but I doubt it.

Sorry. I know SST has it released, but he only has the TV show on tape. I meant that the show never got a full release on tape, other than the clipped TV show.

I know what I meant lol, sorry for confusing anyone.
