OOC: Righto, I didn't quite... uh, pitch this to Frost, but basically he's just there as a device to movie the plot along, so hopefully he won't mind. Nothing really drastic done with his character, anyway, aside from some slightly out-of-the-norm yelling here and there. Anyhow, nothing earth-shattering here, but I hope it does its job. Comment, or something.

PROMO – (Taylor Nicholas Thompson) “Aftershock”

04.04.03 11:20PM -- Charlotte Coliseum, Charlotte, North Carolina

“FUCK!!” - BANG!

“FUCK FUCK FUCK!!” - BANG! BANG! BANG!

The familiar figure of Taylor Thompson storms down the aisle of lockers, banging his fist into each one as he passes.

“Dammit! I had that fucker! My gameplan was flawless! My approach was seamless!” - BANG! BANG! BANG!

“I shouldn’t have lost! I should still have my belt RIGHT NOW!!”

“It’s not the end of the World Taylor. You’ll get another chance. Now stop freaking out!” Frost sharply orders his tag team partner in a slightly louder tone than one would expect from him.

“You saw it with your own eyes Frost,” Taylor states harshly, pissed off to the point that he forgets to add the “-y.” “He beat me clean. Well, pretty much anyway. There wasn’t any bullshit ending. There wasn’t any M7 run-in that I can blame. I lost by myself, fair and square. It was me versus him, one on one, skill against skill… and that piece of shit WON!!!” - BANG!

“You’ll get another shot though! And you’ll be ready next time!”

“But I wasn’t ready THIS time Frost! It was my chance to prove to everyone… the bookers, the fans, the wrestlers, the Magnificent Seven, you… that I WASN’T a fluke champ! That I DESERVED respect! And I let every single fucking person down!! I shouldn’t even GET a rematch! If I can’t beat Tom fucking Flesher, one on fucking one, then how the FUCK can I call myself a good wrestler in the first place!? That bastard went out there tonight… slapped me in the face, taunted me, did everything that he could just to piss me off, and did I come back with my honor and respect and prove to everyone that I could win anyway? NO! And it’s not fucking FAIR! Why is HE better!?”

“Oh just shut up Taylor,” Frost says with a tinge of “enough of your self-pity bullshit” on his tongue. “He’s not the better man, and you know it. I’ve tagged with both of you, and Tom will win, but in the end he’s just a coward. You’ll get your rematch, and you’ll be more prepared, and you’ll win. It may be now, it may be in a year… but you’ll get your revenge. The key now though, is to not let this get you down to the point where you can’t even wrestle.”

“What’s the point if it’s just so that I can go out there and LOSE in front of everyone? What’s the point if I FAIL every single fucking time??”

“Hardly, Taylor. Did you fail at the Clusterfuck? No. Did you fail against Magnifico? No. Did you fail against ME? No.”

“Fluke, fluke, fluke.”

“They weren’t goddamn flukes!” Frost is obviously fed up, and realizes that raising his voice is the only way that Taylor will hear him. “You could very well be the best wrestler in this entire federation, and as your partner, I’m not going to let you throw in the towel after one loss.”

“…whatever…”

“Don’t you shrug this off. Don’t dig your own grave Taylor. You need to… channel your anger into your wrestling. Take this loss, and use it as an initiative for a whole new level of intensity. One can only know himself once he has lost everything, as they say… and now that you’ve lost your World Title, it’s just an excuse to try harder. To ante up. To explode at levels never thought possible before.”

TNT has sat down on a locker room bench by now, and he stares a hole into the locker doors in front of him, though his ears are perked up just enough to hear everything that Frost says.

“Huh… well… I don’t know what to say to that Frosty…” Taylor speaks slowly, as if he were concentrating on each individual vowel. “But… but one thing’s for sure… and that’s that the next person who meets up with me better be ready… better be… prepared… to watch… me… explode…”

“Good. Atta boy. Don’t let your anger and ambition cause your downfall. Happened to MacBeth, you know.”

TNT doesn’t respond.

“…well… sorry for having to yell, but I just didn’t think that you’d hear me otherwise. I don’t normally lose my cool like that, especially for someone else’s loss… heh… Well, I’ll leave you alone Taylor. I know you’ll be ready for Tom come rematch time. And I know you’ll be ready for the next show… whoever you’re facing isn’t going to be a happy camper. I’d put money on it. But either way, get back into your groove fast, alright?”

“…”

“…alright. I’ll check up on you after you shower, then.”

Frost exits the locker room, leaving TNT alone. Taylor stares ahead for a few more seconds, until he finally sighs, stands up, and walks over to the shower area… only to make a sharp right and walk through a door marked “TRAINING ROOM.” The door slams shut behind the explosive one, as we fade to black…

Very nice, very nice. I'd picture TNT reacting like that, and it's good to see that you're planning on keeping your focus on Tom and the title. Here's hoping that you can put on some more great matches, man.

You know, I could swear I've been in a situation like this before... ;)

Good promo that keeps the story flowing along, TNT. Though, as I said, I think you wrote Frost as coming off too casual.

Mm, character. Tastes like...character. Nice work, dude. A direction is a plus, and you're turning what's happened into a good storyline. The sign of a great writer is an ability to work with whatever you get thrown, and I think you're on your way.

You know I trust you with whatever you want to do with my character. I think Frost felt more like a plot device to start with, but toward the end you play into that "Zen Master advice giver" I've been working with lately and you use that well to settle TNT down and make him think, which I believe is what Frost would do. Although, at the time this promo takes place I think Frost would probably be three sheets to the wind with Deja Vu, but meh.

I totally agree with what Ediwn said. Taking whatever is thrown at you and working it into your character and storylines is one of the best traits a writer around here can have.
