OFFICIAL RESPONSE FROM RODDY PIPER CAMP REGARDING "FORGED" STATEMENT

 

April 6, 2003 With the advancement of technology, there are unfortunately people that will use that technology in a negative way. Today, an I.P. traced to Norway, sent, to the top wrestling websites, a supposed message from Roddy Piper that appeared to have come from his Media Relations Department. That "message" was not written by Roddy Piper or anyone in his camp and was not sent nor authorized by his Media Department.

 

Piper Book Media Relations thanks all websites that have posted Press Releases and Updates since the kick-off of the "In The Pit With Piper Tour" and regrets that one person's actions have caused this problem. We are looking into several different security features to protect this from ever happening again. Until a time when we feel that we are 100% protected from any further e-mail masking, we will follow up any official statements or releases with a phone call or personal e-mail from a member of our staff.

 

A full legal investigation has begun and this incident will be pursued to the fullest extent of the law.

 

As for people saying there is no place for Piper's Pit. Piper's Pit is a way of putting over the characters of wrestlers and/or accelerating the development of feuds. It was always a great segment and not one that will deteriorate due to Piper's age. Having a young or new guy do it would never work, it needs an experienced hand at the helm. I don't want to see him wrestling though...

The only feud Piper's Pit is going to further is the one between Hogan and Vince, or Hogan and Piper. Either way you look at it all of the participants are over 50 years old.

 

Also, if Roddy Piper can pull off a Piper's Pit the quality of one from the 80's it would be great. But does anyone here honestly think he can? Give me an instance form the last 3 years that gives any inkling that he is half the performer he was during the Piper's Pit heyday.
