Urban Warfare Posted April 15, 2003 Author Report Posted April 15, 2003 well the canucks loose, after the empty netter by weight
Guest bob_barron Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 That was the greatest hockey game ever. Go Leafs
Urban Warfare Posted April 15, 2003 Author Report Posted April 15, 2003 ducks score, 1-0 over the wings. nice goal, high stick side.
Guest CanadianChris Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 Joseph out of position, Ducks slip one by him and lead 2-0.
Guest Powerplay Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 As a Wings fan, I weep. As a fellow Goalie, I have to say that Giguire an inspiration. Though I hope he doesn't end up like Jose Theodore next year.
Guest treble charged Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 Well, I can't say I'm too upset that CuJo is losing, but I'm not counting the Wings out just yet.
Guest treble charged Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 I still don't think this is over. If there's one team that can make this comeback, it's Detroit.

BTW, there's some moron in the CE folder using your Baron pic. Go kick his ass, please? And congrads on the Leafs: I may dislike them, but they play a man-sized game of hockey to beat Philly. That's fucking resilence..

When the Leafs scored to win I was screaming and hugging everyone. It's the greatest game I've ever attended- and I went to a Super Bowl

You don't find the intensity, brutality, team work, skill, and dexterity anywhere else. That's why I absolutely love hockey.
Guest bob_barron Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 Much better, I pretty much killed my bank account going to tonights game and when Philly got two quick goals I was very worried. But I like how Toronto didnt start freaking out like Vancouver and didn't take stupid penalties like I thought they would. They just regrouped after a horrendous first period and just beat the shit out of them in period 2. I wasn't in favour at first but I loved how they were just checking the Flyers into oblivion. It kept the crowd alive which they needed after the bad start. Except for Jerk Off Lumme they didn't take any stupid penalties and played a disciplined smart hockey game
Guest treble charged Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 The first round of the playoffs are my favourite time of year. Wall to wall hockey.
Guest HBK16 Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 Yeah Maple Leafs win in double over time!!!!
Guest Slingshot Suplex Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 Well,as a Detroit fan...what the hell can you say? Giguere has been a monster in this series. Detroit might still come back but JS is on another level right now. My underdog Lightning not looking too good. Go Leafs I'm hoping the Blues make it into the 2nd round at least.I might try to get up to SL for a game. Go Sens Still hoping for a Minnesota series win. Go NJ Um....Dallas vs Edmonton....either one.
Guest cartman Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 Heh. If I can take any consolation for my Bruins being eventually eliminated, at least it's come at the hands of the Devils, a really good team. Detroit, on the other hand, is being incredibly embarrassed by what is possibly the greatest goaltending performance I have seen in a long time. They should be ashamed of themselves with that roster of talent. Talk about choke.

They should be ashamed of themselves with that roster of talent. Talk about choke. Choke is the Wings in 95. They played brutally badly in that whole series. This is far from a choke. The Wings are not playing badly. If not for the fact that Giguere is playing out of his mind now,the Wings are probably up 3-0 in the series. Giguere has stopped 133 of 137 shots for a .956 save percentage. Tough to win when the opposing goalie is putting up stats like that.
Guest gthureson Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 I still don't think this is over. If there's one team that can make this comeback, it's Detroit. In theory, any team can come back from a 3-0 hole. There have been many times during the season when the Red Wings won four in a row. If I were a betting man though, at this point I'd have to put my money on the Ducks. Can they beat the Red Wings one more time in 4 cracks at it? You'd have to say they can do it, seeing as they have beat them 3 times in the last 6 days or so. Hot Goalie + Just Enough Skill + 3 game lead = No repeat for the Wings. Right now, it appears like Cujo would need four shut-outs in a row to beat Giguere.
Guest MaxPower27 Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 I'm betting that Detroit wins game 4 though, and Anaheim takes the winner in Detroit. Anaheim is going to face a HUGE onslaught of Detroit offense in game 4, and I think that the shots, combined with the fact that Detroit will have to be crashing the net more, that they can beat Giguere. 133 saves on 137 shots. Un-fucking-real.
Guest starvenger Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 I was at the game last night and it was amazing live. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time when I wasn't heckling Ceckmanek. When the Leafs scored to win I was screaming and hugging everyone. Watching the game on TV, I actually realized that the traditional 'goalie chant' isn't quite as effective if: a: the goalie doesn't have a 2 syllable last name, and b: the goalie's first name is Roman. Chanting 'Row-man' just isn't the same as 'Eh-dee' or 'Coo-Jo' etc. Maybe it's just me though. Giguere's stood on his fucking head so far. He's doing for the Ducks what Irbe did for the Whalers last year. I can't see a sweep here though. The Wings have too much pride to let that happen. I can see them winning the next 2 before succumbing to the pressure of trying to win 4 in a row. btw, how many of us picked the Ducks to advance? I don't think that anyone did...
Guest bob_barron Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 We did the Rowwwwwwwwwwww-man thing. At the end of a Flyers powerplay someone yelled: HEY ROMAN- BANG YOUR STICK ON THE ICE IF YOU SUCK! It was pretty funny- we were taunting him for his playoff futility all night
Guest Polish_Rifle Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 I have never been a big fan of hockey but I watched the final period of the Ducks game last night and it was awesome! I am definitely feeling the excitement of playoff hockey. The hometown Ducks are looking pretty good. It looks like I didn't miss anything on Raw.
Guest Slingshot Suplex Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 I could see the Ducks finishing off the Wings in 4 now. Giguere has to be in their heads big time. The Ducks are gonna be jakked up in front of a raucous home crowd anticipating their arrival into the 2nd round. I hope not .I'm still hoping for a Wings comeback but I don't feel good about it.
Guest CanadianChris Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 We did the Rowwwwwwwwwwww-man thing. Is that what it was? I thought you guys were chanting for Goldberg.

Guest evilhomer Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 We did the Rowwwwwwwwwwww-man thing. Is that what it was? I thought you guys were chanting for Goldberg. I was guessing that it must have been Roman, but yeah, it definately sounded like Goldberg, at least on tv. That was a hell of a game, nice to see the Leafs show up and throw some weight around. They were getting pounded into the ground in Philly.
Guest treble charged Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 Well, Corson's apparently done with the Leafs. Sources told TSN that Corson, who was a healthy scratch last night for Game 3 against Philadelphia, met with Head Coach and General Manager Pat Quinn yesterday and a decision was reached during that meeting that Corson would no longer play or practice with the club. Corson was not at Leaf practice today. I gotta say that's kinda stupid.
Guest evilhomer Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 On paper that's incredibly stupid, Corson can't score to save his life anymore, but he's still good in a defensive checking role, something essential in the playoffs. But if you've got philosophical differences and the coach has no faith in you, there's not much use. Sounds like classic Quinn, Jason Smith and Cory Cross are great in Edmonton, and weren't worth much in Toronto.
