Guest CanadianChris Posted May 28, 2003 Report Posted May 28, 2003 2-0 New Jersey Devils on a great setup by Sykora ??? Sykora plays for Anaheim. Now there's a REAL Devils fan for you. But remember Chris, there are no Devils fans. Except for Edge. But, I guess he's the exception that proves the rule, right?
Guest CanadianChris Posted May 28, 2003 Report Posted May 28, 2003 Wow, I thought hockey players got good-looking women. Scott Niedermayer's wife is pretty chunky.
Guest MaxPower27 Posted May 28, 2003 Report Posted May 28, 2003 Apparently so. Only blonde haired wrestlers are allowed to like the Devils. I really wasn't into this game at all. Maybe it's because ESPN Classic had been airing hockey since noon and I'd been watching highlight films all day. Not to mention, it's quite a boring game.
Urban Warfare Posted May 28, 2003 Author Report Posted May 28, 2003 friesen with a empty netter to seal the win for the devils.
Guest bob_barron Posted May 28, 2003 Report Posted May 28, 2003 3-0 Devils on an empty net goal by Friesen
Guest fairtoflair7 Posted May 28, 2003 Report Posted May 28, 2003 Jeezz, this series is gonna kill me. There was no offense except for that little flow in the 1st. All neutral zone and dump and chase. WHY don't they bring the puck in on a rush?? This is killing me. I bet this is also turning away a lot of viewers as well. BTW that playoff preview on Classic was awesome. If you watched a lot of highlights, many of the games were back and forth. Most goals would be scored on the rush. Wish it was like that today. The best one I saw was the Isles-Oilers from 84. Pure talent.
Guest Vern Gagne Posted May 28, 2003 Report Posted May 28, 2003 Look at the goalie padding in the old footage. I've brought this point up before, but it really is night and day.
Urban Warfare Posted May 28, 2003 Author Report Posted May 28, 2003 Well if you didnt like this game, just wait until next game because the pace will probably be slower.
Guest CanadianChris Posted May 28, 2003 Report Posted May 28, 2003 The best one I saw was the Isles-Oilers from 84. Pure talent. The Gretzky-Messier Oilers were probably the most entertaining team in the history of hockey, aside from perhaps Rocket Richard's Canadiens. They were a joy to watch growing up.
Guest Vern Gagne Posted May 28, 2003 Report Posted May 28, 2003 Who watched the Pens/North Stars recap? That Phil Bourqe guy had one hell of a mullet.
Guest fairtoflair7 Posted May 28, 2003 Report Posted May 28, 2003 The Gretzky-Messier Oilers were probably the most entertaining team in the history of hockey, aside from perhaps Rocket Richard's Canadiens. They were a joy to watch growing up. I mean, In that 84 series, there was so much PURE talent on the ice,its scary...99, Mess,Kurri, Fuhr, Bossy, Potvin, Trotts, Smith, Gillies, Coffey, LaFont, Flatley, Anderson...the list goes on Well if you didnt like this game, just wait until next game because the pace will probably be slower. Kill Me Now. Something has to be done before its too late.
Guest MaxPower27 Posted May 28, 2003 Report Posted May 28, 2003 That Pens/North Stars recap reminded me of two things: 1- Jagr's hair was out of fucking control at that point in time. 2- I need to own a North Stars jersey. I love that logo.
Guest Lightning Flik Posted May 28, 2003 Report Posted May 28, 2003 First period got my hopes up like how Raw has been with it's first opening minutes (like first 5) then just went downhill from there. And ugh to this series...
Guest fairtoflair7 Posted May 28, 2003 Report Posted May 28, 2003 2- I need to own a North Stars jersey. I love that logo. Me too. I like Green one the best. I plan on getting Modano on the back too. I also like the 'Diques jersey preferebly the Blue one.

Guest fairtoflair7 Posted May 28, 2003 Report Posted May 28, 2003 This may seem a little weird but I just need to get this out today........MAYDAY, MAYDAY, MAYDAY
Guest MaxPower27 Posted May 29, 2003 Report Posted May 29, 2003 Game 2 tonite. Let's see, Smackdown or hockey?
Guest CanadianChris Posted May 29, 2003 Report Posted May 29, 2003 Game 2 tonite. Let's see, Smackdown or hockey? Neither. 3 guesses what I'll be watching.
Urban Warfare Posted May 30, 2003 Author Report Posted May 30, 2003 If that was a "hockey heaven" chant during the 2nd period, i think the apocolypse is near. And it is 2-0 Devils after 2
Urban Warfare Posted May 30, 2003 Author Report Posted May 30, 2003 Friesen gets another goal and the Devils are up 3-0.
Guest MaxPower27 Posted May 30, 2003 Report Posted May 30, 2003 Where are the Mighty Ducks that dominated two of the best teams in the NHL this year? Looks like the ones from a few years back showed up for this series so far.
Guest MaxPower27 Posted May 30, 2003 Report Posted May 30, 2003 3 more games for the Devils! don't you mean 2?
Guest HBK16 Posted May 30, 2003 Report Posted May 30, 2003 Ooops my bad. I edited that post so many times. I hate my new internet. Pop ups heaven.
Guest Vern Gagne Posted May 30, 2003 Report Posted May 30, 2003 3 more games for the Devils! Well if you think the series will go 5 than it is 3 games for the Devils. Anaheim is a decent team, they got hot at the right time. It's happened before. Carolina last year, Florida in 1996. It shouldn't suprise anyone that New Jersey has dominated so far. Those previously mentioned teams lost in the Finals rather easily.
Guest CanadianChris Posted May 30, 2003 Report Posted May 30, 2003 The sad part is, Martin Brodeur is probably going to win the Con n Smythe when he hasn't really done anything to deserve it. No matter what happens this series, Giguere is still my pick for playoff MVP.
