Guest MaxPower27 Posted May 30, 2003 Report Posted May 30, 2003 Me too. Most of those games weren't won by Brodeur, while Giguere robbed a good deal of games from Detroit and Dallas.
Guest Slingshot Suplex Posted May 30, 2003 Report Posted May 30, 2003 I think I'd still pick Giguere as well, but the 6 (and counting) shutouts is an impressive looking stat. Plus Martin did have the 2nd best GAA and SV % going into the series. I haven't looked to see if that's flipped flopped with Giguere in the last 2 games.
Guest Spicy McHaggis Posted May 30, 2003 Report Posted May 30, 2003 I honestly don't see how the Ducks are going to score 1 goal. It's so frustrating. It seemed like the defensemen were playing behind the attack zone all game... no follow-ups and nobody home for centering passes. I think they're going to have to sac up, and play Kariya with Oates and Sykora. I know Babcock wants to protect Kariya from the Madden line, but he's had what, 2 shots all series? And Sandis Ozolinsh needs to remove his head from his ass. That guy is a huge weakness. Any screw-up? Look for #8.
Guest MaxPower27 Posted June 1, 2003 Report Posted June 1, 2003 0-0 at 1INT. Ducks look pissed though. What Giguere did/said to them has to be in the back of their heads.
Guest CanadianChris Posted June 1, 2003 Report Posted June 1, 2003 The following sentence sums up this year's Cup final perfectly: Geez, that's on now?
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted June 1, 2003 Report Posted June 1, 2003 OMG at that Anaheim Goal.. Brodeur got owned on that one. 2-1 Anaheim..
Guest MaxPower27 Posted June 1, 2003 Report Posted June 1, 2003 Figures, I play a game in my NHL 2002 season, and miss all the offense.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted June 1, 2003 Report Posted June 1, 2003 Anaheim wins it off the faceoff in OT..
Guest MaxPower27 Posted June 1, 2003 Report Posted June 1, 2003 I don't think Marty saw that. Oh well, we have ourselves a bit of a series now.
Guest treble charged Posted June 1, 2003 Report Posted June 1, 2003 Ducks win on a quick little goal. I wonder if the bad goal will end up being the turning point of the series or if it will end up meaningless in the end.
Urban Warfare Posted June 1, 2003 Author Report Posted June 1, 2003 Nice shot by Salei and it's a brand new series.
Guest Vern Gagne Posted June 1, 2003 Report Posted June 1, 2003 The Devils looked off tonight. Almost like they didn't show up for tonights game.
Guest MaxPower27 Posted June 1, 2003 Report Posted June 1, 2003 The Devils looked off because the Ducks were playing the type of hockey that got them to the Finals. They played with no passion in the first two games, and it took Giguere challenging the rest of the team on Friday to get them to start playing with passion. This is a new series.
Guest Vern Gagne Posted June 1, 2003 Report Posted June 1, 2003 Sorry not convinced this is a series. The pessimist and me says New Jersey didn't come to play like they did the first two games. It happens in sports. A team hears all the praise doesn't play nearly as well the next game. In most cases the better team can bounce back without any problems. We'll find out Monday.
Guest MaxPower27 Posted June 1, 2003 Report Posted June 1, 2003 The better team bounced back in game 3. I think Anaheim has figured Jersey out.
Guest Vern Gagne Posted June 1, 2003 Report Posted June 1, 2003 Better team overall or better at this point. Because New Jersey was the better team this year. Before the Finals Anaheim was the better team in the playoffs.
Guest MaxPower27 Posted June 1, 2003 Report Posted June 1, 2003 Jersey had more points, but Anaheim not only played in the harder conference, but they have been playing as well as they had in the playoffs for almost the entire second half of the season. I sincerely think that Anaheim is the better team.
Guest Vern Gagne Posted June 1, 2003 Report Posted June 1, 2003 Thanks. Honestly I'm mad the team, I picked lost. I like to be right with my predictions.
Guest MaxPower27 Posted June 1, 2003 Report Posted June 1, 2003 You're still in line, but I don't think it's going to be that easy.
Guest treble charged Posted June 1, 2003 Report Posted June 1, 2003 I chose Toronto. I know THEY won't lose in the finals.
Guest Vern Gagne Posted June 1, 2003 Report Posted June 1, 2003 I chose Toronto. I know THEY won't lose in the finals. TC. You're a loyal fan gotta give you credit for that. I just on and off bandwagons all the time.
Guest MaxPower27 Posted June 1, 2003 Report Posted June 1, 2003 TC picks TO and I pick Ottawa. Neither team can lose in the finals.
Guest Spicy McHaggis Posted June 1, 2003 Report Posted June 1, 2003 Didn't see the game... Figures that Ozolinsh was fuckin +2 with that flukey goal... I would have to wait and see Game 4 before I declare it a new series. Good for Jiggy to get the OT shutout record.
Guest CanadianChris Posted June 2, 2003 Report Posted June 2, 2003 If a goalie was to win the Conn Smythe (and it's almost a lock, given the two teams that are there), which would you pick and why? GIGUERE: 13-4, 1.39 GAA, .954 save %, 27 goals allowed on 581 shots, 4 shutouts, NHL-record 167:48 of shutout overtime hockey BRODEUR: 14-6, 1.52 GAA, .939 save %, 32 goals allowed on 527 shots, 6 shutouts I say it's no contest. Giguere has been clearly better against superior opposition, and if he doesn't win the trophy, I shall be...irritated.
