Guest HHH123007 Posted April 7, 2003 Report Posted April 7, 2003 Correct me if I'm wrong, but tonight marks the debut of MLW's new show on The Sunshine Network....I know I'll be watching....will anyone else?
Guest ChaosTheory Posted April 7, 2003 Report Posted April 7, 2003 I'm watching. I'm pretty psyched about seeing something other than RAW on Monday's!
Guest HHH123007 Posted April 7, 2003 Report Posted April 7, 2003 Yeah, I like the fact that they don't run at the same time too.....that gives me the chance to enjoy both.
Guest ChaosTheory Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 Well I will have to miss the 5 minute over run at the end of RAW-but I don't have a problem with that. I am definitely going to watch the MLW show from beginning to end.
Guest ConspiracyVictim Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 Yeah...I will need a copy so if anyone is getting the whole thing on tape just email me at [email protected] Thanks...
Guest ChaosTheory Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 So is it on at 11 PM ET? Yeah, that's what the channel guide on my DTV says.
Guest ChaosTheory Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 Sorry for the double post. Computer is not working very well. Flame below if you must
Guest HHH123007 Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 Well, I found it entertaining.....I thought it would just be a clip show, but there was actually wrestling! Daniels/Vampiro was very solid....the other matches were just okay.. Anyone know when these matches were taped?
Guest ChaosTheory Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 The were taped at the "Genesis" tapings back in Sept (I think it was Sept.). Matches were: Jerry Lynn vs. La Parka Malice vs. Taiyo Kea Vampiro vs. Christopher Daniels
Guest HHH123007 Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 Yeah, Kea/Malice was badly clipped, so I wouldn't even consider it much of a match... What was the tournament they were talking about? Was it for the World Title?
Guest Human Fly Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 Things don't start heating up for the promotion until Kojima comes in. I don't think they should run in the ECW arena anymore. I don't think they will either, they had the one show but since then they have been in NY and Florida. Now being on the Sunshine Network, and their next show in Orlando it sounds like Florida is going to be the base of operations.
Guest ChaosTheory Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 What was the tournament they were talking about? Was it for the World Title? At their first show "Genesis" they had a one night tourney for the MLW Title that was won by Shane Douglas. Douglas then had a disagreement with the company (probably cause he was going to work for XPW) and dropped the title. At the next show Kojima beat Jerry Lynn for the title.
Guest HHH123007 Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 Things don't start heating up for the promotion until Kojima comes in. So does that mean that they are gonna keep showing old stuff for weeks and weeks? I'd prefer if they drop all the history of their promotion so far and just started over without stripping whatever champions there are. Is this "Global" Tag Title Tourney something new? Or is it something that has already happened?
Guest Human Fly Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 There have only been 3 shows so far in the companies history. Starting in May they are having shows once a month. The Tag Tourney finals are May 9th.
Guest HHH123007 Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 Wow, I didn't realize that they haven't been doing anything all this time...
Guest ChaosTheory Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 They have only had 3 shows so far so there is really not too much to show. They have a TV taping scheduled for May 9th with a killer lineup: Vampiro vs. Daniels Ikuto Hidaka vs. Fuego Guerrero (Red) Corino vs. Funk CW & Simon vs. Williams & Friedman Jerry Lynn vs. Paul London Sabu vs. La Parka Los Maximos vs. Nosawa/Masado plus CM Punk and I coulda swore I heard them say Mike Awesome vs. Raven but I am not sure about that one-I may have just been hearing things.
Guest Human Fly Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 Kojima has defended the title in AJPW in the last few months, maybe they will be able to show those matches.
Guest ChaosTheory Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 Kojima has defended the title in AJPW in the last few months, maybe they will be able to show those matches. Wishful thinking but the Kojima vs. Ohtani match back in Dec was really good and I wouldn't mind seeing the defense versus Johnny Smith from January.
Guest Zero_Cool Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 Yeah, I watched it. There were a few things I noticed. Daniels vs. Vampiro was a good match, except for the fact that the ending felt pretty rushed. It felt like ECW Hardcore TV, what with the same commercials being played over and over again, for 1wrestling.com (with good CKY background music) and merchandise. The audio was kinda fucked. I heard too much Styles and not enough of the good crowd, or the PA system. During the Daniels/Vamp match, you could tell that the crowd actually favored Daniels, despite the lack of audio, though.

Although it was funny to hear Styles make up excuses for why Daniels was getting cheered.

I had heard that on BTR, when they interviewed Joey Styles.... and the first thing I thought of was "damn, I picked the WRONG time to move to Michigan!" I just hope they keep it going and in time, start to challenge WWE... as I have said before, Vince NEEDS competition, someone to raise the bar and keep things from getting complacent. MLW needs a major name inthe next year or so to take it to the next level, though.
Guest Guybrush Threepwood Posted April 11, 2003 Report Posted April 11, 2003 If anyone is interested I've started a MLW Forum. It's nothing special just a place for MLW fans to chat. MLW Forum Thanks.
JustJoe2k5 Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 If they start showing some of the matches from Reload you should definitely check that out. Super Crazy vs. Fuego Guerrero, Christopher Daniels, Dick Togo, and Ikuto Hidaka vs. The S.A.T. and Quiet Storm, Shocker vs. La Parka, and Satoshi Kojima vs. Jerry Lynn are all great matches. I wish I got MLW, hopefully they'll begin showing their show here in North Carolina. Terry Funk vs. Steve Corino La Parka vs. Sabu Steve Williams and P.J. Friedman vs. C.W. Anderson and Simon Diamond Vampiro vs. Christopher Daniels Ikuto Hidaka vs. Fuego Guerrero Paul London vs. Jerry Lynn Los Maximos vs. Nosawa and Masada Mike Awesome vs. Raven That is the lineup so far for their next show entitled Revolutions.
Guest Evil Ash Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 Kojima has defended the title in AJPW in the last few months, maybe they will be able to show those matches. His match against Nagai in All Japan was really, really good, by my reckoning. If they show that, watch for it.
Guest The Voices In Your Head Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 Here's what I've found listed on the preview for tomorrow night's show from the MLW website [www.mlw.com] The following matches from the show at the Elk's Lodge in Queens [or Manhattan Center in NYC, whatever works for you] will be shown: *MLW World title match: Satoshi Kojima vs. Jerry Lynn *Terry Funk vs. Chris Candido It also mentions that "Dr. Death" Steve Williams & P.J. Friedman will appear, and that they'll have more on Raven. The preview also mentioned that there will be another surprise. [Personally, I'm looking forward to seeing Kojima vs. Lynn, as I've never seen Kojima wrestle before, and I'm intrigued by the promise of a second surprise. After watching last week's show, and seeing Raven at the end, I've decided to make sure I catch MLW every week]
Guest Guybrush Threepwood Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 It's been confirmed that Mike Awesome will be facing Masato Tanaka.
JustJoe2k5 Posted April 23, 2003 Report Posted April 23, 2003 I guess I've had MLW all along, I just didn't notice until today. Since this week they started showing some matches from King of Kings maybe they'll show Fuego Guerrero vs. Super Crazy vs. Christopher Daniels next week.
