Guest Doomsault Report post Posted April 8, 2003 I've only heard the two songs they have videos for on MTV and I like them both, is the rest of the CD crap like Stone Sour or are they consistent?

Guest Steviekick Report post Posted April 8, 2003 Both of their CDs are very good. Nothing sticks out though, but it's good stoner rock stuff. Both are reccommended. They make great background music.
Guest Edwin MacPhisto Report post Posted April 8, 2003 Rated R is flat-out awesome and one of the best rock albums in recent history. I would pretty comfortably call it one of my favorite albums released since 2000, possibly top 5. Pick it up without hesitation; they cover all sorts of styles and sounds on that disc, and it's something I recommend to anyone who's at all interested in hard rock. If you need any convincing, download "Feel Good Hit Of The Summer" and "The Lost Art Of Keeping A Secret," the first two tracks on the disc. Should give you a strong feel of what the album is like. To my fault, I haven't checked out the more recent album at all outside of the single, but the general consensus seems to be that it starts amazingly strong but overall isn't as intriguing or worth returning to as Rated R. Guest HHH123007 Report post Posted April 8, 2003 "Songs For The Deaf" is a great album, but it's one of those that needs to be listened through all the way......no stopping.
Guest B-X Report post Posted April 8, 2003 Actually, the band has three albums under their belt. You missed their debut album Queens of The Stone Age, which has some great material on it, namely "What if", and others. But most definately, check these guys OUT! I attended a live show recently, and reviewed it for KickAssRiff.com. The link is in my sig.

There's a run of three or four weaker songs in the middle sandwiched between the great stuff that really damages the flow of the album. A shame, as I think that the good stuff is better than most of Rated R.
Guest converge241 Report post Posted April 8, 2003 songs for the deaf is my least favorite QOTSA album ..i mean its still very good but Rated R, then the self title are the best check out Mondo Geneator as well Oliveri's band QOTSA covered one of their tracks on Rated R being a huge Kyuss fan none of the QOTSA albums can touch Blues for the red sun or Sky Valley in my eyes
Garth 0 Report post Posted April 8, 2003 Its a decent album, but i much prefer Rated R, but its well worth buying.
Guest saturnmark4life Report post Posted April 8, 2003 I think McSockman's described my stance on it the best. Overlong, but definitely worth it.
HurriShane 0 Report post Posted April 9, 2003 I've heard Songs for the Deaf and I didn't really like it. There was a couple of good songs on there. If you can get a burned copy go ahead but I wouldn't pay too much for it.
Guest the 1inch punch Report post Posted April 9, 2003 I find the Live version of Lost Art of Keeping a Secret much better than the one on Rated R
Guest Doomsault Report post Posted April 10, 2003 Yeah, I hate it when I start liking a band and then I figure out that they've been around for a while and I've just been missing out.
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted April 10, 2003 You're best off downloading some stuff, then if you like it go out and pick up a disk or two. I got SFTD cause of all the hype and it didn't do anything for me. This dirty garage sound is the trendy thing now...so download to be safe.
Guest converge241 Report post Posted April 10, 2003 oh and btw in general fuck the recordings and see them live as good as the QOTSA/Kyuss?desert Sessions albums can be nothing holds a candle to the live shows
Guest swan Report post Posted April 10, 2003 No they good, very good. Also check out Kyuss, namely the "Blues for the Red Sun" album. Funny how "big" fans of the band have no idea of there roots.
Guest converge241 Report post Posted April 11, 2003 but then again they do try to downplay them and avoid the history/songs and all Blues changed my life- i recomended it earlier swan do you have Wretch? thats probably the only bad thing theyve ever done IMO, but grnated it was in the early stages

I discovered them starting with "Blues" and never went back to the debut. Would it be worth it if I found it used?
