Guest notJames Posted April 9, 2003 Report Posted April 9, 2003 …I want WWE to move away from the cartoonish feel... and bringing back Dusty's nonsensical style is the last thing they need… Exactamundo. Besides, since the majority of the WW_'s fans speak English, it's imperative that the announcers do as well. Dusty is disqualified.
Guest Downhome Posted April 9, 2003 Report Posted April 9, 2003 From 1wrestling... As it stands right now, the plan is for Steve Austin and Jim Ross to return to television as a package deal. The working idea going around, as we talked about a week or so ago, is that Austin will come back on TV as something similar to a "rogue general manager" on Raw. I am not sure how they plan to do it, but the idea being discussed is that Austin will somehow be put in a position of power and will bring Ross back as the lead announcer. As we reported a while ago, Steve Austin will not be wrestling any time in the near future due to the pain he is feeling, mostly in his neck. It's not known right now if he will ever return to the ring again. ...heh, I told ya so, you wishfull thinkers you.
Guest Spaceman Spiff Posted April 9, 2003 Report Posted April 9, 2003 Aww, isn't that cute? Austin and his puppy dog...
Guest NoCalMike Posted April 9, 2003 Report Posted April 9, 2003 So once again Jim Ross will get loads of pops all due to Steve Austin. Yah, way to get yourself over there Ross. Maybe an Idea to freshen things up, would be to turn Jim Ross into a heel announcer. Then have Lawler just kind of sit there in shock, thinking, "what the hell is going on" Something needs to be done to freshen up the staleness of Ross/Lawler.
Guest SP-1 Posted April 9, 2003 Report Posted April 9, 2003 I don't think it's an issue of Ross "getting over". That sounds rediculous to me. I think it's just an angle with on-air characters. Not a GOOD one, mind you, but I've never seen the announcers as needing to be "over"
Guest ViciousFish Posted April 9, 2003 Report Posted April 9, 2003 To liven things up they could start by firing Lawler again and bringing back Paul Heyman. he was a much better announcer once I got used to him. He hyped everybody no matter who they were, although he did hype the ECW guys a little harder. He could have made Spike/Maven look like a million bucks IMO.
