Gets only 10 years.

 

April 8, 2003 -- A Bronx judge sentenced an HIV-infected teacher to 10 years behind bars for sexually molesting six pupils 7 to 9 - but angrily added he wished he could drown the monster predator. Milton McFarlane, a former PS 78 teacher, was allowed to plead guilty to 28 counts of sodomy, sexual abuse, child pornography and reckless endangerment in exchange for the wrist-slap so the young boys wouldn't have to relive the horror of the crimes in court.

But it didn't stop Bronx state Supreme Court Judge John Barone from reading the riot act to McFarlane.

"A better sentence would have be for you to have a millstone tied around your neck and you be cast into the sea," he raged at McFarlane, 39.

 

 

"You came to [your students] in sheep's clothing, but in reality, you were a wolf. Under ideal circumstances there would be no plea bargain, but the welfare of the children is the only concern of this court."

Barone also suggested that while the victims may one day find it in their hearts to forgive their attacker, McFarlane is headed straight to hell.

"I don't know if there's a way out of hell, although my religion compels me to accept the possibility that there is," the judge added.

As he was sentenced, McFarlane stared straight ahead, saying nothing, and avoiding the bitter glances of several of the victims' parents.

The sexual assaults took place between 1998 and May 2, 2001, when McFarlane, then a second-grade teacher at the Williamsbridge school, was arrested.

At the time, parent groups were incensed that McFarlane had been allowed to stay on the job, despite an initial accusation of sex abuse in 1998. The Board of Education had dismissed that case - without notifying police - because of conflicting student accounts.

Then-Schools Chancellor Harold Levy admitted the board had dropped the ball.

Assistant District Attorney Robert Holzman slammed the educators, saying, "If there was any justice, the Board of Education would be sitting next to [McFarlane] as well."

So far, none of the boys has tested positive for HIV.

 

This sicko is going to be out before he's 50 and I wouldn't doubt teaching (and preying on) small children again before he is dead.

Not really. Being HIV-Postive is different than having AIDS. Look at Magic Johnson for Example...he was diagnosed as HIV positive years ago.

If I remember right, Dahmer got beaten to death by a mental guy who thought he was Christ. It was the second time he was allowed to be with other inmates. The first time, he got the snot kicked out of him.

It can take years for you to show any symptoms of HIV after you catch it.

I'm not sure what you meanby raving consertaive. I'm about as conservative as they come, though I'm not a born-again or anything, I am in the same vein as someone like Sean Hannity.

 

I do feel that AIDS is a disease that largely comes due to lifestyle choices, and unless this teacher got a bad blood transfusion, then he did get AIDS by doing something that was at least questionable behavior. I don't believe that it is a plague sent to kill all gays, or anything like that, but I do believe that most people could avoid getting in by using a little common sense and/or practicing some restraint.

 

These poor kids however, had no choice in the matter, and not only had a traumatic thing happen to them, but does anyone know if the kids have been infected / or are they 100% positive that they won't be infected?

 

If they were infected this guy should fry. In my book, molesting or raping someone when you are knowingly HIV+ is no different than commiting murder. In fact it's probably worse, because it is a much slower, more painful death than, say, a gunshot.

Oh, that's definitely likely. What I'm talking about is general knowledge about HIV. There's a lot of people who brush it off as "the gay guy disease" at best and "God's way of getting rid of the sodomites" at absolute worst. However, in the midst of all that, someone forgot that about 50% of HIV-positive people are female.

 

I don't believe that it is a plague sent to kill all gays, or anything like that, but I do believe that most people could avoid getting in by using a little common sense and/or practicing some restraint.

 

Well, that's smart. I'm saying that I browse a lot of boards, including one site that is dominiately Conservative and makes no two-ways about it that it's by conservatives and for conservatives. I don't contribute, but I do read the discussions in an attempt to understand the other side of the issues. The people there vary from people such as yourself to those to someone who said that "being gay is unhuman, it's like being a vampire or something" (which is, IMHO, a rather amusing comment) and another person prejudiced enough to say that jobs of major importance should only be given to white people because blacks "can't be trusted." I don't put a lot of weight into what those particular peoples are saying, but I do note in my head that somewhere, they do exist.

1) At the risk of being crude, the majority of women who get AIDS likely engage in anal sex. It is, EASILY, the most risky of sexual acts in terms of AIDS transmission. There is a reason that you don't hear of LESBIANS ever getting AIDS. Women who get AIDS usually fall into a small group:

 

They engage in anal sex with a guy who is possibly a drug user and most definitely unfaithful (and, decent odds are that the guy is bisexual).

 

Is AIDS a "gay" disease? No --- but to claim that it is anywhere near as big a threat to the heterosexual community as it is to gay males is to simply ignore statistical data. Don't have anal sex and don't use IV drugs and it is REAL hard to get AIDS.

 

Heck, in terms of "plagues", there has NEVER been one as tough to get as AIDS.

 

2) As for the comment that blacks can't be trusted --- I've been here for over a year and while I have taken the occasional sabbatical, I've not seen that comment by ANYBODY who is even remotely a regular here. Throwing up red herrings to defend your claims is poor debating.

It's about as easy to transmit as any other STD. The point is to use protection and, most importantly, common sense.

As far as I know Aids is transmitted through bodily fluids involving stuff like blood, semen, and various bodily secretions, NOT saliva.

 

So, while it is possible for a lesbian to give aids to another lesbian, it would rely on things like fluids getting on open sores or cuts. One's skin is generally strong enough to keep stuff like AIDS out. That's why males are less likely (although after repeated exposure they're just as likely really) to get aids from having sex with a infected female than visa versa. The male organ is covered in pretty tough skin, or at least most of it is, compared to the inside of a woman's vagina which is really porous and easy to infect with diseases.

 

In terms of anal sex, basically, you're more likely to involve blood, as well as the anus is just as porous (sp?) as a vagina. That's simply a place that's easier to damage so fluids get exchanged more.

It's VERY possible for a woman to get aids from a strait man.

It's just as possible to do it the other way, the chances are lesser but not small.

Anal sex does lead to transmission of diseases easier.

Basically I'd say this is flat out wrong. Prostitutes spread this disease easily, and so (or especially boyfriends) can pick it up there and give it to the signifigant other, who eventually breaks it off without knowing they've got it. Women typically get it from having unprotected sex with an IV drug user.

Do you have a link to the message board? I'm just curious to see it, because it sounds less like a conservative board then it does a racist/white supremacist/fundamentalist board.

While AIDS is more prevalent in the gay/drug subcultures, it's not that difficult for men to contract it from heterosexual sex. All it takes is for there to be even minor cuts along the penis and a guy can get it from unprotected sex (e.g. the aforementioned Magic and Eazy-E). While it might be unlikely, it's not that impossible to contract.

 

And to those that asked about Dahmer, he was beaten to death with a broomstick (maybe it was a mophandle, but definitely something janitor-related) by some African-Americans while cleaning a bathroom. Allegedly due to the fact that he had primarily preyed upon Blacks in his crimes. And the guards who were right outside the door somehow didn't hear the beating (wink, wink) until after Dahmer was dead.

What I meant was not that he'd die right away, but rather that it's possible. I'm just saying, it's more likely for one to die from AIDS in a shorter period of time than a longer one. I know the facts about it, I just didn't want to turn this into a discussion about the dangers of having gay sex, or something.
