Guest ViciousFish Report post Posted April 9, 2003 WrestleMania etc. April 6,2003 I’ve got several things I want to cover this week, but I figure I should start with my thoughts on WrestleMania. I spent almost a whole week in Seattle and was fortunate enough to have my entire family there with me. Seattle isn’t too far from home and with a conveniently timed spring break; my wife and daughters were free to join me. This was for all intents and purposes the first family vacation we’ve ever taken. We arrived in Seattle Wednesday afternoon and with the exception of one Fan Axxess appearance Friday night (9:30 till 11:00) I was free till Sunday. Seattle is a great city with a lot of stuff to do and see. We stayed right down town and for the most part walked to everything. Seattle is a very clean, pretty city, and we had a ball. We went to the Pike Place Market, which would have been better without the kids but still worth seeing. Seattle has a good aquarium and a very interesting underground tour. We partook in both although I wouldn’t recommend the underground tour for kids. It’s more informative and interesting, than it is exciting and entertaining. If you do have kids take them to the children’s Museum. It’s interactive and great for kids. My two girls played for hours and said it was the highlight of their trip. We also visited the space needle, which was cool. It’s pales in comparison to the CN Tower, but it was still worth the trip and rates nearer the view of the Calgary tower. There was a ton of other stuff worth seeing but with two kids we had to limit ourselves. There were a lot of antique shops, which would have been fun to check out but most of them aren’t designed to withstand a three year old. There is also a ton of coffee shops and bookstores in Seattle. Seattle is of course the birthplace of Starbucks so you couldn’t walk more the 2 blocks with out passing at least one or two of them. I’ve got a huge backlog of books to get to so I found the will power to stay out of the bookshops. As for WrestleMania itself, I didn’t really get to see too much of it. After my match I hit the showers and headed up to the press box were my family was seated for the event. I tried to watch as much of the show as I could but my kids weren’t into watching the matches much so I was busy keeping them out of trouble and entertained. The pyro and music was way too loud for them so on the whole they didn’t enjoy themselves much. I do have a few comments from what I did see. I was very impressed with the girls match (the title match not the pillow fight atrocity). They have brought there work up to the point where they are no longer a gimmick “girls match”, they are a match I now look upon and judge the same as I do all other. The improvements over the last year or so are unbelievable. I loved and respect the fact that both Kurt and Austin did big clean jobs in their match. So often it takes run-ins, interference, DQs, and a load of other crap for people to get beat these days. Here we had two top shelf guys getting beat right in the middle. Kudos for Austin, as likely our biggest baby face, to do it; and considering Kurt’s neck injury he went so far above and beyond it is without compare. I’ve got nothing but respect and admiration for these guys. Vince’s blood soaked face peeking up over the ring apron was the camera shot of the night. We will see that shot in video packages for years to come. I want to sit down and watch all of Jericho and Michaels as soon as possible. With the bits I saw it looks like it could have been the show stealer. I also liked the drama created by the heavy selling in the HHH-Booker T match. Realism and desperation like that made this match mean so much more to me. It may not come across as well on tape but stuff like that creates great emotion live. I want to thank everyone how brought signs to the show. There were a ton of Canadian flags (I know they weren’t all for me, but still), Stormtrooper, Storm 108, and even a “We hate Amy” sign were in the house. You’ve got to love fans and the interactive nature of the Internet. Thanks to you all! I also need to thank everyone for there Birthday wishes (I turned 34 on the 3rd). I received e-mails, cards, and presents, and I am grateful to all of you. On a last note I finally got around to sending out some of my over due give away stuff. I sent out some bookmarks and reading posters this week to select people who took part in Killing Floor, and Vendetta Defense for Book Marks. I haven’t received any of the tote bags from Lisa Scottoline yet but when I do I will send some of those out as well. David Morrell sent me some (30) Signed promotional collectables for his new book “Protector” (release date in May) I will be doing a contest at some point to give those away as well. There are a ton of new books coming out from past Book Marks authors so look for info in the News section and I will of course keep the Book Marks updated with my Book Marks mailing list. That’s right people who take part in Book Marks go on a special mailing list that I send updates and info to. Till next week, Lance A pretty decent read all in all. Not as funny as Edgeucation but pretty good. He shares the typical feelings about the Miller girls. I never knew he had kids and he shares a birthday with my son.
