Guest JHawk Posted April 10, 2003 Report Posted April 10, 2003 Today in Wrestling History (April 10, 2000) Bischoff and Russo working together to try to save WCW? Did they get off to a good start?
Guest Aero Posted April 11, 2003 Report Posted April 11, 2003 I thought it was a great read. I was never too familiar with WCW, and this brought me up to speed with how the whole New Blood-Millionaire's Club came about. True Story: I barely ever watched WCW in 2000. When I decided to catch an episode of Thunder one night, I witnessed David Arquette winning the World Title, of all things. Needless to say, I mostly stayed far, FAR away from any WCW TV from then on.
Guest caboose Posted April 11, 2003 Report Posted April 11, 2003 The New Blood/Millionaire Club angle was essentially a good idea. Russo and Bischoff however were the wrong guys o have it.
Guest Last Warrior Posted April 11, 2003 Report Posted April 11, 2003 Yeah a really good read, I enjoyed it.
cawthon777 Posted April 11, 2003 Report Posted April 11, 2003 Aside from Arquette, I loved April - July 2000 WCW. Maybe it's just me ...
Guest tpww7 Posted April 11, 2003 Report Posted April 11, 2003 Aside from Arquette, I loved April - July 2000 WCW. Maybe it's just me ... Same here, I think I liked it up till Fall Brawl.
Guest kingkamala Posted April 11, 2003 Report Posted April 11, 2003 Aside from Arquette, I loved April - July 2000 WCW. Maybe it's just me ... Hey me too I so totally mark out for that period for some reason.
Guest Will Scarlet Posted April 11, 2003 Report Posted April 11, 2003 Aside from Arquette, I loved April - July 2000 WCW. Maybe it's just me ... I liked a lot of later WCW. It had an entirely different feel than the WWE has now. Heck, I even taped a few Nitros during one of Booker T's WCW title reigns, and I find those to be more enjoyable than most Raws lately.
DrVenkman PhD Posted April 11, 2003 Report Posted April 11, 2003 Am I the only person anywhere that liked Raw this past Monday? I liked it. These days, as long as the show isn't ovelry offensive or boring, I'll accept an average - decent Raw as good enough for me. Anyway, good read. I'm a mark for historical columns, that's one of the reasons I like Keith's book.
Guest JHawk Posted April 12, 2003 Report Posted April 12, 2003 Thanks for the feedback, everybody. And Stephen, great job on Shades of Gray this week. Good stuff there.
Guest Mulatto Heat Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 I loved reading that, JHawk. I missed that particular Nitro, but recall catching the previous week's show (April 3, 2000), which was all recaps and history, and it just screamed "We're desperate! We don't know what to do anymore!" Nice to read a review of that show that's not from DDTDigest (just to read it in a different format and from another perspective). I liked watching WCW in July 2000 with Booker's first few weeks as champ because it seemed new and exciting, and it was the first time I was interested in WCW after more than two years. Of course, that went down the toilet in August when Russo just had to put his ugly mug on TV, they did a false title switch with CHUCK F'N PALUMBO, and Booker lost the title to Nash.
Guest HartFan86 Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 I think WCW was underrated from about December 2000 to when it died. I really enjoyed watching it.
