House of 1,000 Corpses finally opens today.

Alright, figured since this damn thing has been done for 3 years and it's finally out there might as well be a new thread for it. The hype alone should make it a few buck.

Now I'm just going to toss on the spoiler tags and rant about how bad it sucked

Spoiler (Highlight to Read):

DAMMIT THIS MOVIE SUCKED! One thing that's bugged me about recient horror movies is that they cut out the oldschool gore. But this movie had gore just for gore's sake. The story was so weak that that had to make up for it somehow.

I was so up to see this movie, so I downloaded it. And the first few minutes were just great. The bit with the robbery was funny as hell. But after that it goes right into the can.

ONe of the good things about horror movies is that even if the main characters don't live till the end, at least they get a shot, there's some little part where you think they stand a chance. But not in this pooper.

I didn't find it one bit scarey, they just seemed to make up for scares with graphic images and over the top blood.

And why does every horror movie now have to hint at a sequal? They all do it. All the Screams, Final Destinations, Urban Legends (which suck the worst), and I know what you did all those summers ago...why can't they just let a movie end?!

I might rent this little bitch again when the unrated version comes out on DVD. Just to see if there's any saving grace to it. But I give it a huge thumbs down.

Least Freddy vs Jason is out in a few months

It was bad, but did you think it'd be good?

A movie written and directed be Rob Zombie. Come on, people why would this be a good thing?

It does have some good qualitys, the like corny dialogue and that chick was hot.

Spoiler (Highlight to Read):

What that ending about? There are people who live under the ground? Huh? Can someone explain? On second thoughts I don't care.

Once again...

I didn't expect much of anything from this film, and I might as well say that right off the bat. The majority of the performers in this film are obscure, unknown actors which have rarely been in any films of true note, it's directed and written by a man who has never directed a film before (Rob Zombie if you are not aware), and quite frankly, this film has been thorugh the wringer way too much, and it's painfully obvious. The most well known actor in this film would be cult star Sid Haig, but unfortuently his role in this film is nowhere as large as I had been led to believe leading up to this film. Simply put, this guy is the high point of "1000", as he totally captures each scene he is in.

The film begins on a hell of note. We start off with a great scene in Capt. Spaulding's Museum of Monsters and Madmen, which leads us into the musical opening for the credits. I'm no fan of Rob Zombie, but I do admit that his music goes along perfectly in a film of this sort. So along with his music, the demented images in this opening, it really set a great tone for the rest of the film. Well, I should say it set a great tone for the rest of the film, which only lasted for a few minutes. It quickly broke down, and all direction seemed to be lost.

Everyone knows the plot of this film I assume. It's about a group of kids who are driving along, they run out of gas and are forced to stop at the odd, old looking gas station where they meet odd characters, which then lead them to a scarry and broken down house in the middle of nowhere, where all sorts of horror and murder begins to take place. Now call me crazy, I've been called that before, but does that not sound just like a plot seen before in a movie just of this sort? It's so obvious that Rob Zombie wanted so bad for this one to be Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2000, but he fails to reach that goal.

The rest of this film is a horrible mixture of very bad acting, virtually no storyline or plot, no explanation for anything that is going on really, horrible editing, and an attempt at "cool shots" and the such, which only comes across as headache inducing. The film just seems to be one huge mess of various scenes trying to disturb the viewer, nothing really fits together in any way at all. Out of all of the camera angles, effects, and everything of that sort that we see throughout this film, there is only ONE which I feel is in any way truly original, cool, and horrifying. The shot is a closeup of the right part of someones face, and over their shoulder, we see "somone" following them as they are at a dead end trying to figure out what to do now. The shot holds there for a few moments, as the figure in the background over their shoulder moves closer and closer, and then they slowly turn their head to look over their shoulder, and the other half of their face appears as they do so, as they see the figure behind them. This is one of my favorite angles/shots that I have seen in years. There is nothing fancy about it, there are no special effects involved. As a matter of fact, it's the type of shot that any one of us could go out and shoot right now, but that's the thing. It's simple, and in this film it proves that less, is indeed more.

That is my favorite part of the entire film besides the very begining before the opening credits/song. The rest of the film is simply "just there", with really no positives that I can think of. The only real positive I suppose that I CAN name besides what I've said before, is that of the character Baby, played by newcomer Sheri Moon, this is her debut acting role. As from the "1000" web site, "Rob Zombie fans will recognize her from her numerous rock video appearances including such favorites as Dragula, Living Dead Girl and More Human Than Human.", so you may have seen her before if you've seen his videos. She is hot, beautiful, and has a great voice. I can't say much about her acting though, it pretty much just ran into the wall like most everyone else in this film.

Also, the ending of this film comes out of nowhere. I like the ending of this film, but it just comes out of nowhere. I can't really explain it so as to not spoil it, but just be ready for a very abrupt ending, lol. Also, do not look for tons of gore and graphic death scenes in this film, because you will NOT find them here. This film is all about being emotionally disturbing by using quick jumps, setting, and the overall mood... ...it's just too bad that The Texas Chainsaw Massacre did the very same thing years before, and did it much better.

I don't really want to score this one, as I'm not all that sure as to what to score it on. In terms of a stand alone film in terms of acting, structure, etc... I'd give it 4/10, but as a horror film I'd give it around a 6/10. So average them together and you get a 5/10. If you like chessy, very bad made horror then check it out. If you are someone who loves your movies to really pull together in terms of structure, acting, directing, and all of this then just stay away from it, as you will not really find all that much to see here. I do suggest it though to you guys who love mindless horror, you MIGHT find something to enjoy here. I'll hold onto the hope that the sequel will be much more improved over this one, because it will truly need it. After waiting years for this film to finally finish up filming, and to be released, I am now forced to say that it was NOT, worth the long wait.

...blah, there are only two cool scenes/shots in the film, and the crazy chick is hot. That's all this one has in my eyes.

The movie was made by a gore fan FOR gore fans. Why the fuck did you people think it would be a quality movie? Zombie's favorite movies are the bad ones with lots of gore, like 70's Italian zombie flicks.

Haha, like I'm not gonna see this film after 3 years of waiting cuz some guy on the internet didn't like it. Hell, 75% of the movies I like are badmouthed by people on the internet. I can't wait to see it.

I say again, WHAT GORE!? It's said that it was to be one of the goriest movies ever, but in my eyes there was hardly ANY gore in this flick. I mean, if we're talking blood and guts here, it was almost totally absent from the film, ALMOST being the key word.

This movie had two things going for it, one being the first scene, and the other being that one cool as shot near the end of the flick, which is seen in the trailer.

Rob isn't so much into the Italian Zombie flicks as he is into the 70's somewhat real horror flicks, such as The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Last House On The Left.

Which makes sense cause he did a lot of ripping off of TCM with his flick. So much for it being the next Evil Dead 2 or whatever he called it in one of his interviews. Hey Rob, ED2 was a GOOD movie, yours was a SHITTY movie. Please, for the love of God, just reform White Zombie and call it a fuckin day.

Exactly. I can't stand people that keep saying this movie is gory. I remember some blood being in the razor blade scene and that's it. I don't remember anything else at all. I guess he's succeeded. It IS exactly like TCM. Very little gore, but everybody think it's full of it.

It's in 5th place so far. I'm shocked it made top ten. ha

Thank God it isn't doing any better. I think we all DO know now why it took someone so long to pick this one up. I don't know about any of you, but I sure wouldn't have done so.

I didn't say that everyone should hope it should bomb, only that I hope it does. The movie is very bad, very very bad, it's a slap in the face to horror. Especially when word was going around that this would REINVENT the genre. If anything, it took it back in time decades.

I hope it bombs, in order to keep things like this from getting the greenlight. I assure you, had Rob Zombie not had anything to do with this one, it wouldn't have seen the light of day.

If you like it, then great, I hope you do so as to not have to feel as if you wasted your money.

You need to download a codec, but I forget which one it more than likely is at the moment. If you download AVICodec however, load the film in it, it will then tell you which one you need, and where to get it.

I hope the horror movie bombs. Why? Because I like good horror movies. Or at least horror movies that are so bad they come off entertaining, such as the Robot Monsters and Hideous Sun Demons of the world. This thing, like say the 98 Americanized version of Godzilla offended me because it took something I love and did something thats hard to do when it comes to me....it made it boring.

I just got done watching it off the download and I was pleasently surprised at the film. I was planning on seeing it in the theater but none of the theaters up here in Duluth have it. After reading some of you tear it up here, I was wondering if it was even worth getting it off Kazaa, but I'm glad I did.

First off, this movie has to be taken by what it is, and going on tangents about bad acting, weak storyline, yadayada..........well its just not worth it and would be ridiculous in the first place, because this is not what the movie is intended for. For what its worth, I thought the first 30 or so minutes (sans the opening 15 minutes of fun) was pretty lame but then once things started getting crazy, it worked for me all up until the end (speaking of which, TOTALLY caught me off guard, and YES even scared the shit out of me!). Like I said though, there was defiantely a boring period to the movie, but it wasn't from top to bottom. Certainly not the greatest horror I've ever seen (probably hasn't even come close, reminded me ALOT of TCM 2 for some reason) but I've seen TONS worse than this, like Soul Survivors, a few of the Screams, hell I thought this was ten times better than Dreamcatcher and maybe of the other Stephen King based films, which I just saw last week and may go down IMO as one of the worst horroresque films I have ever seen.

Considering this was an R rated film, I think this may be the goriest damn R rated film ever, to be honest. If anyone can think of something else with this much disturbing images and everything, go for it. I was about to agree with some of you here that there wasn't shit for gore until the last 15-20 minutes of the film came around. Beyond that, the whole style done here was something definately out of the typical horror genre as of even the last 20 years, or at least anything that would be considered "mainstream horror." Films like Elm Street and TCM had a similar problem in that major motoin picture studios wouldnt take them in because it's not a "suitable" horror movie, if there is such a thing. In other words you have big wig movie execs that get cold feet if anything pushes the envelope (or at least tries to) on a struggling movie type anyway lately, that being horror that isn't user friendly and then I can understand why two major film companies dropped it, because of such (no matter how much one may hate the film, companies wont just all of a sudden decide to drop a horror movie because of a weak story or whatnot).

I'm sure an unrated DVD will come out, and hell, I might even buy it.
