Guest Jobber of the Week Report post Posted April 11, 2003 They should have done this instead of Steiner late last year, not only because Sting's issues are different than blowing up in 2 minutes, but also because he has more name and guys going over him would mean more to the audience. That said, if this is true, it'll be sad. Isn't Sting like the only guy who worked only for WCW, or is that more bull spewed by Fat Tony ala Greatest Night In Our Sport? Guest Jobber of the Week Report post Posted April 11, 2003 Point. I think the problem is the new guys are just TOO new (in Jones' case) and the old guys are just TOO old (in the cases of Steiner, Sting, etc)

Guest That 1996 Guy Report post Posted April 11, 2003 So let's see they push new guys (ala Nathan Jones) you guys bitch....They sign old guys (Sting)...you guys bitch... I sense a trend... /out of charecter Bullshit. We bitch because Nathan Jones is a talentless piece of crap. I saw some guy around here state that 'Nathan Jones was Australian for CRAP'. Couldn't of said it better. You don't hear or see any smarks complain about any notion of pushing guys like Cena, RVD, Hurricane, Brian Kendrick, Chavo Guerrero, Mattitude (Both of them), Rey Rey etc. Why? Because they're in a catagory Jones isn't. The talented one. /Back in gimmick mode. '96 owns Hitman was robbed Diesel will crush HBK @ IYH
Guest Space_Cowboy Report post Posted April 11, 2003 There are certainly worse people they could bring in than Sting, though I'd rather the WWE didn't continually resort to bringing in old stars at all.
Guest natholy Report post Posted April 11, 2003 STING SADLY is way past his prime, he's lost the that once energitic world champion circa 1992. The other problem is if he were to make a comeback who would he work with who has enough heat? I don't see a Rude or Vader to work with their do you? I'm sure if he does return he will come back as the darker Sting and sadly that has run its course in my opinion unless they can put some kind of spin on it, One idea could be that he's come back to bring down Vince and his company and wants control of the major world title belt so he can bring Vince to his knee's like he brought WCW to its knees and destroyed it but that kind of storyline would be very hard to do and take alot of work. And of course Sting will have to have the motivation to "want it again" if he does come in all hungry and ready for a big run then I could maybe just maybe see something positive comeout of Sting working for the WWE.. But I find it hard to imagine it all working out considering Vince and friends success rate recently. regards nate holynski
Guest Kahran Ramsus Report post Posted April 11, 2003 Sting hasn't been any good since 1996. His feud with Vampiro was one of the worst I've ever seen.
Guest JDMattitudeV1 Report post Posted April 11, 2003 Why do they want to do this? The WWF had been conditioning their fans to hate WCW for many years. Now they expect their fans to pay their hard earned money to see a bunch of broken down WCW "stars". I know some people may flame me for this but hey, I liked the Stinger as much as anybody, but his era was ten years ago. The fact is that nobody paid to see Goldberg, Steiner, Nash, Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan and now Sting in WCW's dying days, why would anyone want to pay to see an older, shiter version of them now. One of the reasons the WWF became popular again was because people were sick of seeing the same old tired, stale fossils, and wanted to see new, innovative characters that they could connect with. That is how they are going to bring the fans back, not with quick fixes and has beens.
Guest nikowwf Report post Posted April 11, 2003 I must have missed this in the newsletter. mind you im not saying its NOT there - i didnt study the damn thing, but i didnt read it. Could someone confirm? niko
Guest JAxlMorrison Report post Posted April 11, 2003 I'm not sure if his character fits in with WWE these days.......who do you guys see him feuding with? I can't think of anyone who would fit with him, except maybe a dark side Taker,a nd that isn't going to happen.
Guest Zack Malibu Report post Posted April 11, 2003 Sting hasn't been any good since 1996. His feud with Vampiro was one of the worst I've ever seen. That's because Russo was booking them like Kane and Undertaker, with the graveyard bullshit, inferno matches, and the like. Granted Sting may be past his prime, but if going to WWE for a last run motivates him, the guy can be ON. I hope he doesn't get stuck fighting old foes like Big Show on Smackdown. Put him in with guys like Cena (who they compare to a young Sting), Benoit, Rhyno, Edge (if Sting is around when he gets back)...use him right, and allow others to get the rub. I don't think the fans will turn on Sting like they did Steiner. Sting has always been more marketable with his look, and as I said, I think he could still have it in him. Guest notJames Report post Posted April 11, 2003 The Geritol Parade continues, and its soundtrack is that broken hit record "Quick Fix = Nothing". Being a NA pro wrestling fan is becoming harder and harder these days. What kind of atomic bomb is it going to take for Vince and Co. to get a clue? -sigh-
Guest Si82 Report post Posted April 11, 2003 Meltzer said in the latest WO newsletter that Sting is proberly being brought in around June. I hope to God not. I really liked Sting back in the 1990's. I know he got kind of lazy towards the end of his career but I just don't want him to come to the WWE and have Vince McMahon and his merry band writer morons piss all over his career. Sting doen't need to come in and I don't see why he even would. Doesn't he hate the current direction of the WWE? I just don't wanted his career to be tarnished by the WWE. Guest Frankie Williams Report post Posted April 11, 2003 Its not gonna work. Just like the Invasion didnt work. Just like the NWO didnt work. And just like Goldberg isnt going to work. Its not as exciting seeing a new big name come in as it once was when WCW was around.
Guest Super Pissed Smark Report post Posted April 11, 2003 Tarnish, smarnish, of all the WCW oldtimers Sting is most deserving of a final payday from senile old Vince. Good for him (if this is true). For a big feud maybe they can get Tajiri to wear facepaint and call him The Great Tuta.
Guest caboose Report post Posted April 11, 2003 Being a HUGE Sting Mark, I'll be happy to see him finally show up on a WWE show, BUT, I saw him at a WWA show here In England, and while he was in shape, the match was an absoloute stinker. Thouigh that may be because a 300lb Luger was his opponent. Nonetheless, as much as I'd like to see Sting back, I think he shouldn't return. Him being the only Major star not to wretsle in the WWF/WWE adds to his legacy as a true great.
Guest THE MIGHTY THOR Report post Posted April 11, 2003 What Vince should do is make Nitro... i mean RAW into the nostalgia show, have RVD,Jericho, and Rock traded to SD and make that the young people with real talent show and make everybody happy.

Guest Kid Kablam Report post Posted April 11, 2003 So let's see they push new guys (ala Nathan Jones) you guys bitch....They sign old guys (Sting)...you guys bitch... I sense a trend... I'm pissed that they're pushing Nathan Jones cause it further satisfies Vince's big man fetish. Jone's hasn't earned anything. Last night they proved they weren't dead set on pushing Cena, and they certainly aren't pushing the cruiserweights. Jamie Noble could become a mini Benoit but instead he's lanquishing. They're finally, sorat pushing Matt, but the main pushes are still being given to the wrong people.
Guest Frankie Williams Report post Posted April 11, 2003 I think they should bring back Tekno Team 2000 but this time, instead of being a team from the future, they can be a team from the past. WHOO HOO!! All WWE problems solved!!!
Guest The Son of Sting Report post Posted April 11, 2003 Niko it was the headline in the WWE section. I cant understand Flair,Hogan,Hall,Nash,Golderg,Steiner and Sting being brought in after the invasion. Sting will have a 1/2 month run on top and that will be it. Guest Polish_Rifle Report post Posted April 11, 2003 They should just accept the downturn in business and start over with NEW Stars!!! Sting won't do anything in the long run. I think they are just trying to pad both brands with some "big" names to justify having split PPVs.
