As much as I think Sting deserves this, I'll agree with the majority. Why does the WWE sign these guys? I mean, they say they want to promote their youth and lower guys, but I mean seriously where are they? Look at Nowinski, Maven, Y2J, RVD, Christian, Noble, etc (I had the TE kids on here because all they do is get jobbed). I mean, I watch WWE right now (specifically RAW) and go, "oh look. It wasn't WWE that bought out WCW. It was WCW that lured the WWE into a false sense of security by allowing itself to get buyed out by the WWE, so that it could devour the WWE from within." Enough with the crap already.

...this is why I'm seriously in need of getting TNA. I mean sure, old guys like Dusty Rhodes and Vader are/were there. Touche to anyone who mentions the fact that Vinny Russo is there. But geez, at least they push the right fucking people who are over with the crowd (AJ Styles, Ron Killings, Raven, D'Lo) and give new stars chances to prove themselves (Chris Sabin just recently). And yes, I haven't watched a show, but I can certainly say that at least I expect it not to be of high quality caliber of say a Global product like the WWE should be, so I expect some blunders or some silly storylines.

But right now the WWE has been downright ugly with it's handlings of how to promote itself. I mean the purpose of Goldberg vs Rock is what? The fact that Rock got speared by Goldberg and that Goldberg wants him in a fight at Backlash. And I seriously need to see this match, why? Triple H is still the Champion after 8 months (I don't buy that HBK win, I swear it was around Triple H's waist still unofficially) and yet no one on the RAW roster could get it off of him, because the Pedigree is the only move no one kicks out of? Not only that, but I'm supposed to hate the guy because he really doesn't say anything that isn't already true of his opponents (let's see, Triple H said guys like Booker T aren't anywhere in his league, and guess what, HHH was right). I hate the guy, I'll give the WWE credit there, but I hate him for all the wrong reasons.

I'm sorry but the years of Hogan, Sting, HBK, Goldberg, Triple H, Rock, Austin, etc. are gone. This should be the time for Angle, Benoit, Lesnar, Cena, Y2J, Guerreros, etc. to be making a name for themselves.

Unless this is in the upcoming issue out this weekend or Monday at the latest (which I haven't recieved yet, usually not until tomorrow) I haven't seen anything about this in the Observer.

Seems to be likely though, since Vince can't seem to get the right idea on how to establish a strong creative team, so he thinks that continuously bringing in big names for dream matches will draw the fans back. Problem is that it doesn't without the proper buildup, regardless.

Bullshit. We bitch because Nathan Jones is a talentless piece of crap. I saw some guy around here state that 'Nathan Jones was Australian for CRAP'.

Couldn't of said it better.

Or more gayer-sounding. Many kudos to that mystery gayish fellow!

STING SADLY is way past his prime, he's lost the that once energitic world champion circa 1992.

What's with the unnecessary cappies, pappy?

The other problem is if he were to make a comeback who would he work with who has enough heat? I don't see a Rude or Vader to work with their do you?

No, there is not one man in the company who could make a feud with Sting bearable. It is an undisputed factualized trusim that he will become heatless apathy-magnet

I'm sure if he does return he will come back as the darker Sting and sadly that has run its course in my opinion unless they can put some kind of spin on it,

What spin? Have him just have the "dark Sting" wardrobe with the same attitute he had at the end of WCW, which wasn't very dark at all. He was screaming, "It's SHOWTIME, folks!" for God's sakes.

One idea could be that he's come back to bring down Vince and his company and wants control of the major world title belt so he can bring Vince to his knee's like he brought WCW to its knees and destroyed it but that kind of storyline would be very hard to do and take alot of work.

Why is that hard to do? You don't seem like the brightest apple in the litter, no offense, and you came up with the idea.

Oh ... maybe because that doesn't make sense. How does control of a major world title belt (of which there is only one he could win, for all intents and purposes) bring the company to its knees? Maybe he can win the tag team belt with Lance Storm, too, and we can get a Vince suicide angle. Also, please tell me when Sting winning the wrold title in WCW brought the company to its knees. And if he destroyed WCW (of course I remember), Vince lied on that simulcast promo, which isn't a bad thing, mind you, as it could be used to give further justification for the suicide angle.

And why would Vince hire a guy who wants to ruin his company if he doesn't want it ruined?

I know ... Sting's motivations would be kept secret until he's "signed." I'm just giving you a hard time.

regards nate holynski

Go back to Finland! U Stink A lot!

Sting hasn't been any good since 1996.  His feud with Vampiro was one of the worst I've ever seen.

You didn't like it because it was too much hard-hitting realism for your soft, squeamish belly, young lady. That House of Pain match was tough to sit through at times, I'll admit, but it was compelling edge-of-your-seat-oh-no-you-just-fell-off-you-idiot television. No need to complain, sheesh.

And speaking of hard-hitting realism, remember when Sting got hit with that tombstone on the head, and it shattered into pieces? And he got up like 30 seconds later. Sting showed me that he "had it" that night. This is a kid with no quit!

I know some people may flame me for this but hey, I liked the Stinger as much as anybody, but his era was ten years ago.

Heeey, you may wanna consider holding your tongue in regards to the wildly unpopular sentiment there, Cowboy McRowdy.

The fact is that nobody paid to see Goldberg, Steiner, Nash, Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan and now Sting in WCW's dying days, why would anyone want to pay to see an older, shiter version of them now.

Steiner is still good. He kicked the shit out Chris Nowinski. Nowinski is real smart, but he's also real arrogant, and a real jackass to boot, but that didn't help him against Freakzilla da Thrilla. I just wish Steiner put all his weight on Nowinski's back when he was sitting on it, so Nowinski would've hopefully died legit under the crushing muscle-mounds of White Daddy.

One of the reasons the WWF became popular again was because people were sick of seeing the same old tired, stale fossils, and wanted to see new, innovative characters that they could connect with.

This is off-topic, but I think a good way to get back on track would be to actually give some more depth to these guys. A lot of the guys wouldn't even qualify as one-dimensional. Soap opera for males? Soap operas actually flesh out the roles. Maybe in ludicrous fashion, but at least they do.

Who could connect with these people? "Man, I really relate to Big Evil. He doesn't like to be disrespected and is not one to back down!" "Stone Cold is the greatest. He's so real. He beats up his bosses, just like I want to. Holy shit, maybe we're brothers!"

And those are guys who have had the benefit of some of the most character development. Why are we supposed to hate Albert? He's really big and he cheats? Oh, and he's hairy and not rippling at the seams with manly muscularity.

How can anyone get behind Mark Henry? I like him, mainly because he's like a big teddy bear and the Sexual Chocolate gimmick, but it's not like his ring skills are something people want to see. "I really appreciate Mark Henry. He is so strong. I opened a pickle jar for my weak girlfriend yesterday to a round of applause, so we have this connection. Furthermore, one of the guys at work is a black guy!"

That is how they are going to bring the fans back, not with quick fixes and has beens.

Whoa! I had my doubts at first, but now I think you might really start raising some eyebrows with your rebellious against-the-grain nature, what with saying things everyone's already been saying for, like, forever!

I'm not sure if his character fits in with WWE these days.......who do you guys see him feuding with? I can't think of anyone who would fit with him, except maybe a dark side Taker,a nd that isn't going to happen.

I went over the "Sting is a very dark character" thing before, albeit quickly. So let's do other stuff!

Anyway ... yeah! 8000% agreement here, yo. How could a guy wearing facepaint and black trenchcoat fit in a post-Columbine WWE? That's a little different from everyone else, and people who are different would never have any reason to fight.

Speaking of the Undertaker, I like his new mafia wiseguy/goodfella gimmick, as it gives him an instant feud with the FBI. And still speaking of the Undertaker, let's speak of his younger brother, Kane. I'm glad they shifted the emphasis of the Bischoff Administration to the members' status as warlocks. Otherwise they would probably have no choice but to fire ol' Kane. "I'm sorry, Kane, we'll consider brining you back after you get in touch with your average joe!"

I guess you were considering the magical powers aspect of the feud, though. Cross your fingers, 'cause it should be a dandy!

The Geritol Parade continues, and its soundtrack is that broken hit record "Quick Fix = Nothing".

For some reason, I thought this very clever. This guy is on the rise!

Being a NA pro wrestling fan is becoming harder and harder these days.

You know, I would be highly interested in any federation called "NA Pro." Someone needs to start that up.

Thouigh that may be because a 300lb Luger was his opponent.

300 because of muscle, or 300 because of fat? Fat would be funny, but I'm guessing muscle. -_-

Him being the only Major star not to wretsle in the WWF/WWE adds to his legacy as a true great.

You know what? I agree.

Again, would it kill a second person to confirm this?

Probably, we do live in a dangerous world.

Did you steal that from a movie?

Now we get Sting....

Whats next???

Glacier???

El Dandy???

I would be all for Dandy if we get him with that awful hairdo and Silver King in a package deal. And they reprise their "ugly, gross Mexicans who for some reason see hot stuff in the mirror" team. And they both lose the cut themselves lean and get a tan.

But I guess we can't ever have it all, even when we want it.

Don't steal that.

I think they should bring back Tekno Team 2000 but this time, instead of being a team from the future, they can be a team from the past.

WHOO HOO!! All WWE problems solved!!!

Best response so far, by far. Besides every single part of mine.

Sting will have a 1/2 month run on top and that will be it.

That's a little conservative, right-wings.

Id be so into getting TNA if it wasn't like paying $10 a week for a raw or smackdown. The PPV's are like an event, i have friends over, we have dinner, so id miss them even though it hurts me to pay for them sometime. But paying $10 a week for TNA...i just can't. I do sometimes (like 1 out of 3) but...i dont know..

But geez, at least they push the right fucking people who are over with the crowd (AJ Styles, Ron Killings, Raven, D'Lo) and give new stars chances to prove themselves (Chris Sabin just recently).

I saw Chris Sabin's picture. He sure proved himself to me, all right, if by "prove himself" you mean he looks like lady-esque sissy. He needs a prissy, quasi-faggot gimmick, stat. And 10cc of eyeliner and blush.

I mean the purpose of Goldberg vs Rock is what? The fact that Rock got speared by Goldberg and that Goldberg wants him in a fight at Backlash.

They hate each other real bad, duh. Plus, it's a dreeeeam match. That means when fans go to bed, this is a hot topic around the water cooler!

And I seriously need to see this match, why?

Well, harrumph and pshaw, then, Señor Spoilsport. You be that way.

Triple H is still the Champion after 8 months (I don't buy that HBK win, I swear it was around Triple H's waist still unofficially) and yet no one on the RAW roster could get it off of him, because the Pedigree is the only move no one kicks out of?

Ah, I don't think anyone's kicked out of his bread-and-butter submissions yet, either, like the sleeper, or the Injun deathlock!Nor has anyone gotten out of Rodney Mack's "Al Snow Shoveler" or "Blood Money Max Bomb"! Teddy tried to make him call it the "Blood Money Mack Bomb," but Rodney is stubborn and ignorant of the intricacies of correctly spelling one's own name.

Not only that, but I'm supposed to hate the guy because he really doesn't say anything that isn't already true of his opponents (let's see, Triple H said guys like Booker T aren't anywhere in his league, and guess what, HHH was right).

He's a cocky asshole, but even I can't deny he's a hell of an athlete and probably the greatest world champion in history, folks!

I hate the guy, I'll give the WWE credit there,

Of course, he's an asswipe!

but I hate him for all the wrong reasons.

I was real pissed with how he beat up the HBK and Booker T, because he's a wuss and he couldn't do it without his gay friends "The Faggot Olden Boy" Coc Flair and "Y2Sellout" Chris Jericho the Gay Asshole

I'm sorry but the years of Hogan, Sting, HBK, Goldberg, Triple H, Rock, Austin, etc. are gone. This should be the time for Angle, Benoit, Lesnar, Cena, Y2J, Guerreros, etc. to be making a name for themselves.

Yeah, Lesnar is a super-jobber. Wake up, Vince, you old codge!

I actually don't hate Sting. He's a good performer, and circa 2000 I would have loved to see him in WWF.

However, it's 2003, he's openly criticized WWE (not that Vince really cares about that), his heart doesn't seem to be in the business any more, and while he's not as much a fogey as Nash, Piper, Hogan, or Taker, I'd prefer they make sure he's in good ring shape before signing him and putting him out there.

Signing guys that were big WCW names isn't a bad idea. However, there's an aspect about it Vince seems to have forgotten, you know?

And here I thought that Sting was financially set and with no need to wrestle anymore. I guess his movie career wasn't as great as it could have been.

Uh huh.

While I would not mind actually seeing him in the ring, I agree with the consensus. Another attempt at a quick fix.

When we say push the new guys we don't mean the ones that suck and bring nothing to the table like Jones.

When have they truly tried to build a new star lately? Brock? He's about the only one.

Cena was made Rikishi's bitch for awhile and now barely squeaked by Taker.

It almost seems that all new talent or new gimmick on Smackdown have to play Rikishi's bitch for a few months before being pushed.

Jones may be "new" but he's no spring chicken either. Okay...he spent 8 years in prison, several years body building, he trained to be a wrestler (allegedly) he's been sucking on the indy circuit for a bit...and here he is. He's got a visible receding hairline during his interview with...I think it was Cole or was it Coach?

So it's obvious Jones isn't very young. He's likely in his 30s at least. You've got guys that age and younger who have everything needed to be a star, and are already over, but you bring him in and (try) to push him. Of course that's not going to fly with smarks.

They should just accept the downturn in business and start over with NEW Stars!!!

Sting won't do anything in the long run.  I think they are just trying to pad both brands with some "big" names to justify having split PPVs.

The last "rebuilding" phase around 96/97 saw them sign many established (name brand) mid to upper carders from WCW to help fill out the roster...

In fact HHH,Foley,Vader, Austin,Furooqu, Gold Dust, Marc Mero, Road Warriors, Pillman,Godwins,Sal Sincere, The Goon, Freddy jo Floyd, Jim Niehart, Bulldog, etc had all been in WCW within a short time period prior to coming to the WWF.

Who did the WWF "create?" in that same period? Mark Henry,Kane, Savio Vega(TNT), Headbangers, D-Lo Brown,Tiger Ali Singh,Bradshaw

___

Its my firm belief that the WWF went in the tank around 1993/94 because the WCW/NWA wasn't suppling them with any usable talent to repackage because the NWA/WCW had just had a horrid period of thier own. What WCW guys did Vince snag in 92/93ish?

(IRS/Terry Taylor/Bastion Booger/Steiners/Luger/Giant Gonzalez/Oz/Dimond Studd) Not exactly a who's Who of all time greats...

_____

Then after the big boom of 97 who did they create? Edge/Christian/Val/Kurgan/Silva/Rocky Miavia. So the Rock was the lone star they were able to make on thier own...the rest of the midcard was filled with WCW rejects. (Minus Ken Shamrock and Dan Severn who were UFC experiments)

So to make a long story short Vince has WCW to thank for his success for supplying him with Austin, Foley, HHH,Taker,Y2J, Vader etc.... Other wise Rock and Kurt Angle would be the only homegrown talent to carry the Company until Brock came along.

I'm not sure if this jumbled mess made sense, but whatever...

Tank: The difference is that WWF signed guys that WCW didn't use well. WCW in return signed established WWF guys.

This is what WWF is doing now--pulling a WCW. They are signing their (now defunct) competitor's established stars instead of building their own. The Austins and Foleys weren't stars yet when WWF signed them, so they were hired fairly cheaply and busted their asses to get on top and to entertain the audiences. They were fresh.

These old WCW guys Vince is hiring are stale, complacent from being on top in WCW, and demand high salaries because they believe they are worth a lot.

Guest Smell the ratings!!!

It'll probably just be Cena in face paint.

If it's not well, I say Russo returns sooner than later. No, seriously. Then Bischoff will turn face, and they'll be dueling authority figures with "armys" of wrestlers. And it will suck. Oh, will it suck.

Just give it a year, then all these guys will be retired (except Hogan, who will literaly die on the air) and then they'll have no choice to push the good wrestlers. Or find new bad wrestlers. Or put the title on Maven.
