Kurt Angle Mark 0 Report post Posted April 11, 2003 By Dave Meltzer "The Tuesday Smackdown tapings will have the Chris Benoit vs. John Cena match in the finals of the tournament with the winner facing Brock Lesnar for the title at Backlash. The plan as of earlier in the week was also for Hulk Hogan to return on the show, doing Piper's Pit, which would set up Hogan vs. Piper at Backlash. Now since that wasn't advertised on the show last night, and one would think Hogan on Piper's Pit would be advertised, I'm not sure if plans have changed. I can't imagine if they are going to do Hogan vs. Piper that they wouldn't get the match out public by ten days before the show. "
Guest AndrewTS Report post Posted April 11, 2003 Oh God, nooooo!! Didn't WWF/E mock "Age in the Cage" when WCW did it FIVE YEARS AGO?! Fucking dumbasses and hypocrites. Who gives a fuck about seeing these guys still wrestle?!

Guest The Amazing Rando Report post Posted April 11, 2003 Rando's Ancient Writings predicts that Piper vs. Hogan will go 20 minutes (with entrances) at Backlash and will be so overbooked that we will all compare it to Vince vs. Hogan as it is happening, after it has happened, and even way before it takes place. I also predict that someone will say "at least it keeps the old folks out of the title picture"

How's he going to put on a watchable match when he can barely move? He won't. When has Vince cared about signing some one who can put on watchable matches? Especially lately? It will be a brawl ending with: sleeper hold, hulk up, elbows to the gut out of the hold, Irish whip, big boot, leg drop, 1, 2, 3, bye-bye Piper.
Guest AndrewTS Report post Posted April 11, 2003 Backlash is shaping up to be another in a line of ppvs that I won't order... but the first one that I don't feel at least a little bit sad about missing. *Gasp* You mean that... Nash, HBK, Booker T vs. HHH, Jericho, Ric Flair Piper vs. Hogan Goldberg vs. Rock Nowinski vs. Steiner Torrie vs. Sable RVD/Kane vs. Storm and Morley Cena vs. Brock Lesnar Team Angle vs. ??? ...doesn't want you to call up your cable provider right NOW and order Backlash? Geez, there's no pleasing you people. In Vince's eyes, that's a stacked card. EDIT: I assume Rikishi will run into Hogan-Piper, and they might have FBI vs. Taker and Jones. Which would both suck, but at least make sense.

Guest AndrewTS Report post Posted April 11, 2003 bps: Taking a stab at what they probably will put on the Backlash card. So far the only possibly good matches would be S&M vs. Kane and RVD and Cena vs. Brock...ouch.

Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted April 11, 2003 hmm... this is what they should do: Piper vs. Hogan...and give em 20 minutes just like Hogan/Vince!!! Booker T should turn on HBK and Nash for kicking him out of the NWO last year...and then join HHH's side and cut a promo explaining that all of his wins over HHH were planned out so that the cerbral assasin could set up the money feud with Nash! Goldberg does his two moves and wins as Rock fades away...and the last entertaining portion of Raw goes with him. Fuck Goldberg. Cena does his best to prove he belongs in the main event...but that match is as forgone a conclusion as has ever existed. Best match on the show...and no suspense. Everything else is just midcard crap that won't be booked until the day before.

Guest AndrewTS Report post Posted April 12, 2003 I think this card my be the one to unseat King of the Ring 95 as the worst WWE PPV of all time. Funny enough that was headlined by Kevin Nash too. Co-headlined. It was a tag team match, and had Sid in it, too, you know. Let's compare... Qualifying Match: Savio Vega vs. IRS (dunno if this is on the video release or not). Savio Vega vs. Yokozuna Roadie vs. Bob Holly HBK vs. Kama (Time limit draw?!) Mabel vs. Undertaker Semi-finals: Savio Vega vs. the Roadie Kiss my Foot match: Bret Hart vs. Jerry Lawler Finals: Mabel vs. Savio Vega Diesel and Bam Bam Bigelow vs. Tatanka and Sid Lessee...tag team main event with Diesel winning, a washed up old wrestler in a match with a WWF main eventer, a hoss going over in the tournament--that's two Mabel matches folks and Yoko wrestled earlier, bad wrestling on a shitty undercard. My predicted card: 6 man tag team main event with Diesel likely to go over, two washed up old wrestlers facing each other, a shitty women's match likely. Goldberg vs. Rock which should draw, Brock versus either Cena or Benoit, neither of which stand a chance in hell of winning. Mediocre to bad wrestling on the undercard. I think Backlash just barely will be better.
Guest AndrewTS Report post Posted April 12, 2003 On a side note, I'd laugh my ass off if Nowinski wrestled Steiner on PPV and managed to get any less than a total shitstorm out of him. That would sure say a lot about HHH's skills.
