After enough people called 'bullshit' on that, they went to a more public setting for the draft lottery last year. Also, anybody saying they would rig the draft IN FAVOR of the Cavs is out of their mind. The Cavs are a terrible franchise (I'm from Cleveland and even I don't want to defend them), they don't draw for shit and they are a distant third as far as pro sports teams in the city go. The NBA would NOT want to put a gold mine like LeBron there just because he's from Akron. If that draft is rigged in any way, shape or form, then a major market team that could use some help (NY, Chicago, Atlanta or even Washington would be fine candidates for that) will get him. Also, there is one guaranteed advantage to finishing dead last in the league. You might only get 25% of the ping pong balls in the lotto, but on the other hand you are guaranteed to get no worse than like the 3rd or 4th pick overall. This is like a lottery mercy rule... One year, a team finished with by far the worst record, but still didn't get drawn in the lotto until like 5th or 6th.
