No tape or shirt again for me.......they started packing up during the main event......they didn't have A F'N O 16 or 17 yet anyway.

Any idea when they have anything else booked? Ben said they wouldn't be back in Cape till August and both shows next weekend are cancelled.

Daizee said she,Delirious and possibly Dingo would be in Dexter next Saturday the 24th on the LAW show. Yay for me...10 minutes from home.

Your guess is as good as mine on the next shows...if my memory serves me correctly, the schedule seems to lighten up a bit over the summer months. I know they have "Wrestlefest", one of their bigger cards, in August...and depending on the status of DeSoto, Cape G fans might get that particular show.

I didn't see any tapes from last month so I didn't get anything either...about the only one I didn't have was the anniversary show and they played those matches on the TV show. I'm hoping to pick up any of the shows from April or May once they're available.

They only ended up running 2 shows in May ..and back to back nights. I hope they don't cut back to this point for 3 more months.

It was pretty cool too....I was standing near the ramp where the wrestlers come and go to the ring at and when MsChif and Delirious got back to the back after she won the lightheavyweight title, the wrestlers in the back gave her a round of applause.

Actually the crowd popped pretty good when she won as well despite her being all heel and all.

That paragon of GCW virtue, White Chocolate, informs us that there's an AF'NO at Aggies' on June 21st(a Saturday), but that's all I know for the upcoming month.

As for the fans cheering for MsChif, it seems like almost every major player in GCW, face or heel, has their share of fans...plus the fact that the triple threat match in question involved three heels anyway, so they had to cheer for SOMEONE...

I was talking to Delirious and Daizee after the show in Dexter a little last night. He was getting a kick out of thumbing through my autograph book and we talked about the difference in his style wrestling for GCW compared to LAW,past shows, and he let me in on a tidbit (which hopefully I don't get in trouble for relaying).

It seems MsChif winning the lightheavyweight title wasn't the original plan. He said it was booked mid match and she didn't even know she was getting it. Apparently Makaze held her to him so she'd get the pin. :D

I guessed that the title switch wasn't the original plan simply from the fact that the original Cape G lineup didn't even have Makaze scheduled to wrestle(it was supposed to be MsChif vs. OuTtKaSt in a singles match).

After Friday's show I mentioned offhand to someone(I forget who) that I'd guessed there'd be a title change on Friday because Makaze wasn't scheduled for anything on Saturday, and that person said that Makaze WOULD have a title defense...didn't know what he meant until after the Saturday results came in. :)

I don't know why Strychnine is unable to make it down to Cape G for those shows...and I thought it was an odd decision to put the belt back on him so quickly. Not bad, just odd. Dingo said offhand in his pre-match promo(about "taking it easy" because it was just Nikodemus Ravendark he was facing) that he hurt his neck recently, so maybe that's the reason they took the belt off him, to give him some time off. Didn't stop him from going full throttle against Nikki that night though, and he still worked the Irish Table Dance with Billy the next night...he's a tough SOB, no question about it.

Those tables that night in Cape had no give to them either. It took quite a few attempts to break one. In fact,Dingo kept trying to put himself through the last remaining table ( a la Sabu) and I believe it took him 4 or 5 tries.

Daizee had mentioned something at Paragould LAW show two weeks ago about Dingo possibly working Dexter this past Saturday but he didn't. Don't know if he was booked elsewhere or giving himself a little healing time.

Damn it! Now they've apparently changed it from the 21st to the 20th putting my "being able to go" status up in the air.

Gatewaywrestling.com has updated to say that both June shows will be at Aggies'(guess it's hard to book places during the summer; I remember a few summers ago they had to book spots at county fairs). There's the Adults F'n Only show on the 20th and a standard house show on the 28th.

Hmmm..do I go all the way to St Louis on the 28th or do I go to Poplar Bluff? Bluff is a half hour away..St Louis is over 2 hours....

LAW will probably be kinda mediocre though especially since none of the GCW group will be there.

Oh I did scam the 20th off work so I should be at Aggie's that night anyway.

I should have a 20 X 30 of MsChif.there.....if the pic comes out ,it'll be sweet. I should get it back midddle of next week

A handful of matches announces for AF'NO.

Kevin Sharp vs. D'Mon G, as Sharp looks to avenge D'Mon's interference in his match with Chaz last month.

Chaz Wesson vs. Sean Vincent. Now here's a case where Doogie actually MIGHT keep the shirt on...

Hints of a Nikki Strychnine vs. Diamond Back Dingo rematch for Da Belt.

Plus some kind of challenge by Mike The Mime. (And, on that subject, they say 8x10s of Mike The Mime WILL be available at the June GCW shows. Bonus.)

Cross-post of my column from the GCW website message board:

-----

A FAN'S PERSPECTIVE #26

Yes, it's me again, Mr. Fashionably-Late-To-Practically-Everything-For-The-Last-Two-Months. Let's see if I can manage to put together a reasonably coherent column in spite of that.

It's not often that one feels sorry for Diamond Back Dingo...but when you're looking across the ring at a seriously pissed-off Nikki Strychnine, ready, willing, and more than able to take out about three months' worth of pent-up frustration and aggression out on you, lesser men would have simply headed for the hills. Not Dingo, who gave as good as he got last month...but Strychnine was too much for him, and when the dust settled, the returning Poison Prince was a four-time titlist and Dingo's title run was unceremoniously ended.

A lot of questions come out of this match. Who WAS it that helped Strychnine get back on the "right" path? Who will be the first challengers to step up to the plate? And, if Dingo gets a rematch for the gold down the line, will he be more prepared now that he knows exactly what he'll be up against?

It didn't take long for Dingo to get back on track, as the very next night, despite the abuse he took the night before, he was right back in the ring taking on Billy McNeil in a hard-hitting Irish Table Dance(where, reportedly, the tables may have been the toughest entities in the match!). Dingo finally averted his previous fortunes by defeating The Irish Luchador in his specialty match...perhaps this is a sign of the Aussie stepping up his game in order to meet the challenge of facing Strychnine one more time. I can't wait for that one.

Speaking of titleholders, MsChif became GCW's first female titleholder by dethroning Makaze in Cape Girardeau! Congratulations to her...though I'm sure she has her mind on how to deal with a certain ex of hers. Do I detect a champion vs. champion battle in our future? Hell, NIKODEMUS RAVENDARK powerbombed her over the top rope and took out the security crew at the anniversary show...what's NIKKI STRYCHNINE gonna try to do to her?

For quite a while, the GCW fans may not have liked Chaz Wesson, but they respected what he did in the ring. Now, the Old School Warriors are officially no more, as Coach Chuck Farley's stable of D'Mon G and Sean Vincent turned on him after a tag team loss to The Sandman and Big Bad Ben. All I can say about the Chaz vs. Sean Vincent match next month is this: Doogie, KEEP THE SHIRT ON...in fact, wear several.

Despite the falling-out between Chaz and D'Mon, it looks like D'Mon will still have to deal with Kevin Sharp, seeing as how D'Mon cost The Pretty Boy a match to Chaz last month...as David Rogers so aptly put it, this WON'T be "pretty". D'Mon will have some momentum on his side as he scored the upset over The Sandman last month thanks to Chaz's help...

While MsChif's fortunes have been looking up, unfortunately I can't say the same for Daizee Haze who's been having a rough 2003 so far. Recent AF'NOs have seen her on the losing end of singles matches against the members of Nightbreed, Cabal and Jackal...hopefully we'll see Johnny Greenpeace tag with Daizee to even the odds in the near future.

As for the Gateway Challenge...I think last month's show was evidence of the fact that the GCW fans appreciate talent, no matter what banner they compete under. They could have easily put the deep-freeze on the competitors from Midwest Powerhouse Wrestling and South Broadway simply because they were "unknowns", but they showed their respect for everyone involved. Kory Twist had wrestled a handful of matches for GCW in April, but the match with Jeremy Lightfoot(making his first GCW appearance) was reportedly a breakout match for both and the fans let everyone know about it. I look forward to seeing both of them in action on a more regular basis in the near future. This is one show that I'll need to pick up the videotape of...I've only seen a few Damian Blade matches and I've never seen Chico, Twist, or Lightfoot in action, so I have some catching up to do. Of course, Billy McNeil and Delirious represented GCW well, as I expected them to.

Ian Storm seems to be gaining a bit more respect from the GCW faithful, good to see.

Heart Attack Jack LOST?!?

Jynx's fortunes have turned around, he picked up a big victory over Matt in the Five-Way Dance at AF'NO(even though he eventually fell to Makaze)...

Who is Super Electro? (No, it's not Sean Vincent.)

Best of luck to Matt and Delirious at the NWA Wildside show this coming weekend...

More at some indeterminate point in the future if I can think of anything.

Feedback: [email protected]

(So I ran out of witty taglines...)

Photo page(it's gonna be updated again, honest!):

http://members.aol.com/PowerPB13/gcwpics.htm

So until we figure out exactly WHO OuTtKaSt is due an X Title shot at now...I think it's Chris Sabin, but don't hold me to that...

From a report by My Very Close Personal Long-Time Friend(tm Gene Okerlund) Michael Langan, Matt "Sydal"(w/ Daizee Haze) and Delirious worked a match for their TV taping last night in Georgia; Matt won with a slight assist from Daizee.

Here's a more detailed report on the match from Larry Goodman on 1wrestling.com:

"(1) Matt Sydal (with Daizee Haze) beat Delirious in 6:32. An impressive debut for these cruiserweights from Gateway in St. Louis. It's tough for unknowns to get a response at the Arena, but they won the crowd over with their performances. Delirious is a high energy masked guy. Sydal has a good traditional babyface look. Haze is all of 100 pounds but very athletic. Match opened with fluid rapid-fire matwork. Delirious took a great bump on a monkey flip. Sydal hit a springboard flip dive to the outside. Delirious slipped on the top and came up short on a springboard clothesline. Delirious used the old thumb thrust to the throat. Haze took a bump on a baseball slide by Delirious. Sydal dropped Delirious into a stunner. Delirious came back with stiff chops. Sydal did a standing shooting star press while standing Delirious's back. Delirious bumped Sydal into a crotch shot on the top and hit a running knee. Delirious used a foreign object, which brought Haze up on the apron to complain. Finish was Haze coming off the top to hit a huracanrana followed by Sydal's Dragonrana for the pin. I hope Wildside brings them back."

BUMP because GCW wrestlers worked for NWA-TNA once again...reportedly Matt (Sydal) and Delirious worked a tag match with Triple X last night. Hopefully it'll air on XPlosion(and I'll get a tape of it somehow).

I think it's great that they're getting another match. If they got to be on the PPV, I'd sure as hell order it.

btw, anybody else think it's weird that the thread was originally just gonna be me and Slingshot Suplex or something, and I haven't been here in at least a month?

You and I were the only ones on the board that talked about GCW at all at the time so I threw that little tag line in under the title.

If Patrick hadn't returned,it would have been me just talking to myself.

One more week till A F'N O um....18? and tapes!

Because I beat Patrick to posting it from the gatewaywrestling.com board........

The show for June 28th at Aggies has been moved back to July 12th, a lot of things came up and we think this will be a much better show with a lot of old faces showing up for this one.

Adult 18 is still June 20th at Aggies with a big card planned, some matches will be announed this week but you'll have to show up to see the big things.

David Rogers

I'm kinda glad. I didn't really wanna drive to St Louis twice in 8 days. Although I think July 12 interferes with a show close to home too. Sigh.

Hey, as long as it gets posted... :)

Interested in hearing about the other matches to be added to Friday and also who the "old faces" will be for next month's Aggies' show.

On that note, I'm glad to see they're doing standard house shows at Aggies' again...I've seen that little place get some major audiences on its best nights...

Oh yeah, and I just got a digital camera, so that means my photos get plastered across the 'net even sooner than normal, bwahahaha...

Sorry Patrick...I did it again but it's 4 AM and I had nothing else to do.

David Rogers latest post on gatewaywrestling.com

Hello GCW fans,

Well it's getting close to AF-NO 18 this Friday at Aggies and there has been some changes.

Due to some hellish events in his life Nikki Strychnine will not be there and Dingo new opponent will be in their 1st ever meeting MAD MAN PONDO, this clearly will be a technical match.....YA RIGHT.

The Strychnine vs Dingo will be July 12th.

DmonG and Kevin Sharp have issues to settle *HOOD* style some one won't be pretty after this one.

Double Negative Storm/Almighty will be taking anew tag team that is well a Negative of them.

Sean Vincent looks to be selling some spare ribs Saturday after Chaz Wesson does some chopping Friday night. Long live the MULLET.

There will be a training match, it's that time again for a couple of GCW trainees to jockey for a position.

It may not be a dream date but Daizee Haze vs Outtkast.

The rest you'll have to come see.

Injury report, Kory Twist was hurt this weekend and looks to be out the whole summer we at GCW wish him a speedy recover.

GCW would like to wish Sam Bacardi and his soon to be wife Olivia the best in their upcoming marriage Saturday, may it be the 1st of many happy days for you two.

GCW fans you need to keep July 12th open, we're putting together what we hope will be a show to remember.

David Rogers

Dingo vs Pondo will be good......I've seen a lot of Pondo in Michigan a few years back and I know he's wrestled for GCW a few times. And at least we get the Nikki vs Dingo rematch next month.

Honestly, if I hadn't already taken the day off work.....I probably wouldn't be going to this one. It sounds decent but not 2 hour drive decent.

I could post last night's results but I will let Patrick do the honors. Between the 5 hours of driving last night and about 3 hours sleep the night before,I'm wiped out and going back to bed.

Finally got 2 tapes though.Hat Trick and A F'N O 17. MsChif signed my 20 X 30. Next show July 12 I get my MsChif shirt and probably 2 more tapes. Daizee and Delirious in Poplar Bluff next Saturday.

And I retract my previous statement....it was worth the drive last night. I'm just paying for it now.
