Guest Lightning Flik Report post Posted April 12, 2003 For those of you who don't know, there's a new Zelda game out for Nintendo's Gamecube. For the 99.999% who already knew that, there's a special deal going on if you do not yet have one of Nintendo's big plastic boxes. Nintendo, right after releasing the Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, quietly released a new Gamecube bundle with their new title included. This is not where the fun ends, though. After seeing one of these bundles at my local Wal-mart, I can confirm that not only is Wind Waker bundled with the GameCube, but they have also included the Zelda: Ocarina of Time/Master Quest bonus disc. Also fun, they decided to include a Gamecube/GBA link cable, so you can get your Tingle on while playing the newest Zelda adventure. As of writing this, this awesome Zelda Gamecube package is still selling for around $149. If you don't have a Gamecube, this is a hard deal to ignore. ...now is it just me, or do you feel like your getting screwed knowing that you can't get OoT and Ura when just normally buying Wind Waker, but yet, Nintendo brings out a bundle pac that gives you a freaking copy? Discuss away.
Guest Flyboy Report post Posted April 12, 2003 Eh, this just helps boost Nintendo sells even more. It didn't kill me to put down a few bucks to pre-order Wind Waker and get OoT/Ura.
Guest Lightning Flik Report post Posted April 12, 2003 Eh, this just helps boost Nintendo sells even more. It didn't kill me to put down a few bucks to pre-order Wind Waker and get OoT/Ura. Now you see, I didn't have cash to use when the preorder needed to be made. And I couldn't have boughten it when I needed to. My complaint though is that they do the whole preorder thing and say limited supply, but then do this. Just how limited is that limited supply then?
Guest Flyboy Report post Posted April 12, 2003 All I had to put down for Wind Waker was $5, so that was cool with me. My complaint though is that they do the whole preorder thing and say limited supply, but then do this. Just how limited is that limited supply then? Nintendo simply swerved us. Now people like who doesn't have a GC can get it AND Wind Waker, OoT, & Ura. It's a great deal, although Nintendo is backtracking. Maybe 'Tendo is simply just packaging the last couple of batches they have of OoT/Ura and putting them in the bundle.
Guest Lightning Flik Report post Posted April 12, 2003 All I had to put down for Wind Waker was $5, so that was cool with me. $20. And that was the lowest I could find the preorder. I had one place ask for payment up front. ...rrriiiight.

Guest Lightning Flik Report post Posted April 12, 2003 (edited) Where did you go? I went to Software Etc. Let's see. The three true gaming stores that allow me to preorder: $20 - Microplay $30 - Electronic Boutque (although, you got the guide too, so it's about on par with Mircroplay) Full price - Play Me And ever since I was charged $95 for Saga Frontier at Play Me, I've never bought from them again. Guest Lightning Flik Report post Posted April 12, 2003 You willingly bought Saga Frontier? You deserved to get screwed. *shrugs* I was like 13-14. I wasn't smark about video games just yet. And Play Me is just cheap. Let's put it like this: Arc The Lad: The Collection - $180.
Guest DVD Spree Report post Posted April 12, 2003 Well, I don't know if Ninty are advertising the set as including Ocarina, so it could very well be that they're just clearing out stock. Then again, they need to shift GC units like there's no tomorrow to catch up to the Xblock, and people don't care about the Cube right now, so they've got to make deals as good as possible. Either way, I don't think it's that big a deal. You can still pick up about fifty copies of Ocarina on eBay, or you could just buy the N64 version for about $5. Fuck "Master Quest", it's a total sham - not nearly the revolutionary idea that the original 64DD Ura Zelda was supposed to be. For shame, Shigeru. For shame. Guest DVD Spree Report post Posted April 12, 2003 No, Ura Zelda in NAME ONLY. The original concept for what Ura Zelda was to be is NOTHING LIKE the half-assed remix that ultimately came to be. Ura Zelda was much more than a timid remix, trust me.
Guest I'm That Damn Zzzzz Report post Posted April 12, 2003 And I bought the Mario Assshine bundle in january for $190!!! 2 more months and I could have got a good game for free...
Guest C.H.U.D. Report post Posted April 12, 2003 This is just a last ditch effort by Nintendo to pull the GameCube out of the grave. It'll be a dead system by Christmas.
Guest Lightning Flik Report post Posted April 12, 2003 No, Ura Zelda in NAME ONLY. Tell that to Nintendo. As far as they feel it is Ura Zelda.

Guest DVD Spree Report post Posted April 12, 2003 Tell that to Nintendo. As far as they feel it is Ura Zelda. I'm sure they do - the point is to let people know that by missing out on it, they're missing nothing. Ura was supposed to be as revolutionary as Animal Crossing, and instead it's a vague remix. Truth is, we never get to see even 10% of what goes on at R&D in Kyoto, but when they release a game claiming it's the same thing they were working on all those years ago, people who were informed about it will be really pissed off and disappointed. It would be like THQ announcing a GameCube No Mercy 2 a couple years ago, and then ultimately releasing just No Mercy with nothing changed except a couple of moves. Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted April 13, 2003 I preordered from Ebgames back in December, got the bonus disc, free Fed Ex shipping, no sales tax and saved 10 bucks on the top of that ($39.99)

Guest cartman Report post Posted April 13, 2003 It's definitely in trouble especially when all I read about now is the NEXT systems due around 2005. Sony has the market totally dominated. They outsell X-Bux and GC combined still.
Guest Lightning Flik Report post Posted April 13, 2003 From what I've heard from some mags, (GamePro, EGM, etc.) that things are quite awful for both secondary parties. The funny thing is though, they say that if Nintendo or Xbox went out, then the other would survive and maybe then have a chance. But frankly, I don't buy that. I'm almost convinced that Sony will finally get the monopoly on the gaming consoles. Just like how Nintendo's got the monopoly on the hand console systems. Guest KANE Report post Posted April 14, 2003 I'm still surprised that the system with the cruddiest load times and graphics, and the 2nd worst controller is doing so well, because of one vastly over-rated game series (GTA). If Nintendo goes under, there's a lot less reason to be a gamer.
Guest Jobber of the Week Report post Posted April 14, 2003 Sony is selling 40 times what everybody else is. This does not mean that Nintendo isn't making money. They are not selling anywhere near forecasts and stuff, but I don't think anyone is seriously suprised. They're a noncompetitor, but things aren't going away. Xbox was more or less an experiment, and for any first-attempt game console to pass sales of Nintendo in any region, let alone nearly all regions (excluding Japan and some others) is rather unexpected, even in a current industry climate like this one. One thing you have to remember is that the PS2 came out earlier and was marketed more heavily than the return of Christ. Most everyone who bought a Dreamcast was doing it as a toy to play with while waiting for PS2. Dreamcast was No Way Out, PS2 would be Wrestle-friggin-Mania. Throw in the hype plus the newness plus the Fanboy Armies (such as the Square Fanboy Army) plus the promises of online play that wouldn't appear for over a year. Nobody is going to be as late to the party as the other two guys were next time around.
Guest Blue Bacchus Report post Posted April 14, 2003 As a Video Game Clerk/Jerk, PS2 first hand kicks the shit out of Gamecube and XBOX everyday. But the GBA rules all in sales. For example last Monday (8 hour shift), which is always a slow day, I sold 1 XBOX title, 2 Gamecube (Zelda), 6 or 7 PS2 and a whopping 20 something GBA titles. Guest C.H.U.D. Report post Posted April 14, 2003 I can't believe these people are shelling out all this money for GBA games when you can download and play them for free on the 'net. Oh well. And I agree with, PS2 is totally dominating GameCube and X-Box, and I'll be suprised if either system is around next year. As for PS2 having the "2nd worst controller", that is funny, considering the PS2 controller is 10x better than the GameCube and X-Box controller.

While its true that you can download GBA games on the internet, you can't take your computer around in your pocket and play games during any free or spare time you have during the day (yes, I know you could take a laptop but a laptop wont fit in your pocket, and yes you could use a handheld PC that could fit in your pocket, but those things cost $400+ for one with a color screen and it probably wont be able to run an emulator anyway..). I think he might've meant second best. The best console controller (made by the company) was the Super Nintendo's. At least in my humble opinion.
