Guest wildpegasus Report post Posted April 13, 2003 I just finished watching my first batch of ROH and was pretty impressed though I was expecting a little more from all the hype I've heard. American Dragon really impresses me. It's obvious he puts a lot of thought into his craft. Seems to wrestle a lot like Benoit. You also can't help but mark out when he throws the European upperctus and the Misawa elbows. Lo Ki was impressive as well Spanky has got a lot of charisma and is also impressive in the ring. The two European lightheavy wrestlers really impressed me with their abilities. Johnny Storm? and Jody Flesh? What I wasn't impressed with was the gay bashing. What's the point of this? In my opinion, there was too much needless neck breaking manuevers being used. When you're using a "burning hammer" in a run in that's just not right. QUESTION: What's with the bouncy ring? I'm guessing that this is because of all the neck manuevers being used. Is this right?

Whoo-Hoo I get to answer an ROH thread Fleisch and Storm are two Brits who guys like me and ChUnk have seen a billion times, usually against each other. Theyre really good As for the gays, dunno, but theyre over
Guest ShooterJay Report post Posted April 13, 2003 If you like Fleisch and Storm's ROH match, their CZW match is about a billion times better. The original point of the CSC was that there were no "gimmicks" in ROH- for the first few shows, they would come out and mess around, and Da Hit Squad would murder them to reinforce their point. The ring does in fact have a lot of bounce to portect the neck-otherwise everybody would be crippled.
Guest j.o.b. squad Report post Posted April 13, 2003 i agree with you that there are way to many people in roh who depend on the head drop in their matches. as for the gay bashing i think they were trying to get hit squad over as monsters. as for the no gimmicks that was quite a load of bull wasent it . you got the gays the ravers the straight edge the 80's hair band the 90's pop group and i am sure there are a few i am mising
Guest Andy Report post Posted April 17, 2003 Johnny Storm? and Jody Flesh? Just a Brit nitpicking here, but it's actually Jonny Storm (no "h") and Jody Fleisch (with an "i".) Cheers - A.
Guest Shane Legend Report post Posted April 17, 2003 Alot of guys in ROH don't just use the head drop style cause they work ROH matches, alof of guys now adays use the head drop style to get over. Hit Squad has been using the neck drop style for a VERY long time. Low Ki intentionally tries to hurt people. He has no control over his kicks and goes out with the intention of hurting people. He "lives his gimmick" sitting in the corner, talking to no body trying to act like a tought guy. I know this for a fact because my friend Justice worked Low Ki and told me this. I doubt he goes out to the ring with the intention of actually hurting his opponent... Also, I'd think that it would be pretty hard to control your kicks when you're throwing them at the speed that Low Ki does...

He "lives his gimmick" sitting in the corner, talking to no body trying to act like a tought guy. I know this for a fact because my friend Justice worked Low Ki and told me this. There is a difference between working stiff and trying to hurt someone. You don't last long in this business trying to hurt others and your matches wouldn't last that long. Most wrestlers aren't going to put forth the cooperation needed to put on a match if the other person in there is trying to hurt them. Look at his kicks in slowmo to get a better idea of what he is doing. When he does the tidal wave the front of his foot slides against the back of the other guy's head. He doesn't kick them square in the temple or face. When he does the kicks to the chest it is usually his lower leg, which may be covered by shinpads, that is making contact. Sometimes he kicks around where the other guy's elbow is, but makes it look like most of the contact is with the chest. I've heard that on the RF shoot interview with American Dragon he is asked if Low Ki works too stiff and Dragon replies "no he doesn't." Not "yeah he kinda does" or "he works too stiff" or "he is out to hurt people", just a plain "no." What happened after Low Ki "tried to hurt" your friend? Did the match break down and a real fight take place? I think I would have read about that. Did your friend confront him in the locker room about it or anything? Guest ConspiracyVictim Report post Posted April 18, 2003 I think he is talking about Justice from NWA FL and IPW Hardcore...at least thats the only Justice I know of that has worked with Low Ki.
Guest The Last Free Voice Report post Posted April 18, 2003 no offense, but it sounds like "Justice" needs to be taught that wrestling is a business and you don't try to hurt people. I got stiffed in training a hundred times but I know it isn't personal or intentional. Maybe this guy NEEDS a good kick to the head.

Guest ShooterJay Report post Posted April 18, 2003 Yup, it's the same Justice from that area, who recently worked CZW at Divide and Conquer's Trifecta Elminiation tournament- he's also going to be a regualr soon, so he's not some backwater indy scrub. Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted April 18, 2003 Jerry Lynn was once asked who had more control over their kicks, Tajiri or LowKi. He said LowKi. I'm trusting Jerry Lynn over Justice.
Chunk 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2003 If you like Fleisch and Storm's ROH match, their CZW match is about a billion times better. You have to see that match. It is the best Jody/Jonny match I have seen. It might be hard for you to get hold of it if your in the USA, but their match from WrestleXpress wasnt half bad either. ANdy, I cant blame you for the nit picking lol. The amount of times I have seen it spelt Jodie are also too many to count. ChUnK!
Guest j.o.b. squad Report post Posted April 20, 2003 what is kind of funny is that the jody fliech website has it misspelled on the frontpage graphic anyway back onto subject perhaps becose low ki hasent worked in florida for quite a while. Perhaps justice just worked with low ki back when he was much more green than he is now. Also remember taijiri has injured people in the past (his kicks gave jaimie noble coliflower ear) so the fact that he has more control than taijiri is not saying that much. Chunk 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2003 his kicks gave jaimie noble coliflower ear Really? Could you get that from one shot to the ear? I thought cauliflower ear was when blood built up in the ear (making them look swolen). I know rugby players get it from continous rubbing during the scrum, but I dont think its possible to get it from a one off occasion. That was more likely just a swollen ear, from bruising etc. ChUnK!
Guest j.o.b. squad Report post Posted April 20, 2003 it wasent from one kick. remember when noble had the cruiser belt and he and taijiri were wrestling each other every single show. the repeated kicks to the side of the head eventualy made him develope coliflower ear

That would make sense. Isnt the only way to cure Cauliflower ear, to syringe the ear and drain of the excess blood? Now I remember why I used to ice the shit out of my ears after every rugby game ChUnK!
Guest j.o.b. squad Report post Posted April 20, 2003 nope no cure for coliflower ear he is stuck with a hard ear for life. becose what hadens is after a while the blood in the ear calsifies and hardens syringing might help if you get it treated when it first gets hurt but most atheletes tend to not pay atention to a little pain in their ears

Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted April 21, 2003 I have minor cauliflower ear in my right ear. Happened from sleeping on my couch, actually, and wrestling around with my buddy Steve-O on an almost daily basis last summer didn't help matters much. Makes my ear look pointy...heh. The Prophecy is dead for all intents and purposes, at least it was until Mafia joined. It now consists of: Daniels Xavier Mafia Allison Danger Donovan Morgan (who may or may not be on the outs w/ROH-he's never around aymore anyway) Old members who left: Samoa Joe Simply Luscious Mark Briscoe
Guest WhenDanSaysJump Report post Posted April 21, 2003 In my opinion, there was too much needless neck breaking manuevers being used. When you're using a "burning hammer" in a run in that's just not right. As touched on earlier, this isn't really a problem confined to ROH but it's symptomatic of US independent wrestling as a whole. I for one think it's a shame when death moves are used as transitions.
