Guest CanadianChris Report post Posted April 13, 2003 I don't even have anything to say, except it was the most exciting tournament I've seen since 1986. What a performance...all of Canada congratulates you, Mike!

What a performance...all of Canada congratulates you, Mike! Combined with Randy Ferbey winning the men's curling title, it was a good weekend for Canada in the 'boring' sports... Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted April 14, 2003 Congrats to Mike Weir. His performance was awesome over the past few days and I couldn't be happier for him. It was nice to actually tune into golf and not have to watch the Tiger Woods show for once.

It was nice to actually tune into golf and not have to watch the Tiger Woods show for once. I bet CBS is ticked off though, since Tiger = ratings, but he was such a non-factor that they were forced to focus on Weir and Mataisse. Big props to Mataisse as well - the guy came from 9 down to end up in a playoff, and this was his first Masters as a pro to boot.
Gert T 0 Report post Posted April 14, 2003 I still would have liked to seen Weir hit that one ball that was buried in mud on the front nine.
Guest Spaceman Spiff Report post Posted April 14, 2003 Man, that was awesome. A Canadian AND a lefty. Double whammy. Eh, I was rooting for the American lefty. I guess a Canadian lefty is the next best thing.
Guest treble charged Report post Posted April 14, 2003 Well, if Weir wasn't going to win it, I was hoping that it would be Mickleson.

Guest treble charged Report post Posted April 14, 2003 Depends on what the championship is. Earlier in the day, we won the World Curling championship, but since we win that one fairly often, it wasn't that big a deal. A Canadian had never won a major title in golf, though, so naturally, we're going to be a little excited.
Guest CanadianChris Report post Posted April 14, 2003 Plus, Paul Tracy won his third straight Champ Car race yesterday, and Canadian teams won all three games they played this weekend in the Stanley Cup playoffs. A VERY good weekend for Canada.

Earlier in the day, we won the World Curling championship, but since we win that one fairly often, it wasn't that big a deal. Actually, a big deal was made of Canada losing the women's championship to the US. The flipside of this was that Colleen Jones seems to have a history at choking at the world curling championship, so maybe it's not that big a deal. OK, I guess we can go back to the boasting, bragging, and insulting in the Stanley Cup thread now...
