Guest Lethargic Report post Posted April 14, 2003 I can't believe Cube 2 is FINALLY coming out. I bet that sucks. I use Videoeta instead of DVD Talk for release dates. They don't leave anything out on that site.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted April 14, 2003 I meant to watch Cube 2 on Sci Fi channel the other night, but I missed it damnit. There isn't anything on this list that would even be worth a rental to me really... The Transporter would probably be the closest..but Im not gonna pay $4 to rent it when it will probably be a cheapo rental in a couple of weeks..
Guest ArkhamGlobe Report post Posted April 14, 2003 Finally, an edition of Ran that looks good. I'll probably be getting that one. EDIT: And the Cry of the Banshee/Murders in the Rue Morgue double feature looks fun as well, as does the Psych-Out/The Trip double feature.
Guest Dmann2000 Report post Posted April 14, 2003 April 15, 2003 The Singing Detective Man this film must've been bad, it premired at Sundance but got a lot of mixed reviews. Did it ever get a release?

Did it ever get a release? That's the original I believe. The one at Sundance is a remake.
Guest Crucifixio Jones Report post Posted April 14, 2003 I didn't know about Beat Street coming out this Tuesday, but I did read about Breakin 2 coming out in Entertainment Weekly, despite the first Breaking not yet being released. This made me curious as to when Beat Street would finally be coming out since Wild Style and Krush Groove have already been brought to DVD.
Guest Marshall Report post Posted April 14, 2003 Three Miyazaki movies! Hello people! I'm getting Spirited Away ASAP. Cube 2 was the same as Cube 1 only with bad killer CGI crap, and an even more confusing ending.
Guest Crucifixio Jones Report post Posted April 14, 2003 Yeah, I think it should go without saying that people would pick up Spirited Away. If you have a hard time choosing between his other two movies, go with Kiki's Delivery Service.
Guest Kingpk Report post Posted April 14, 2003 Here's IMDB's list. It seems more comprehensive.
Guest evenflowDDT Report post Posted April 14, 2003 I didn't know about Beat Street coming out this Tuesday, but I did read about Breakin 2 coming out in Entertainment Weekly, despite the first Breaking not yet being released. As far as I know, Breakin' is only available in the UK because of licensing problems with the music over here. EW is correct, however, Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo is being released tomorrow, along with one of the few titles I'd actually bother to pre-order... In other cult cinema releases, Something Weird also has a double-feature of Harry Novak's Angels and the Uschi Digart film Getting Into Heaven. I also believe Synapse Film's double-disc limited edition of Blue Sunshine streets tomorrow. Fangoria's Chopping List has a few more titles from lesser-known indie companies (and another title from Image), but I haven't heard anything about any of them. Guest areacode212 Report post Posted April 14, 2003 About the Miyazaki DVDs coming out tomorrow: If you buy Spirited Away, KiKi's Delivery Service, and Castle in the Sky all together at Best Buy, they'll throw in Princess Mononoke for FREE.
Guest Ravenbomb Report post Posted April 14, 2003 OMG GOD! Cube 1 and 2! Spirited Away! Ran! Miyazaki 3 pack! Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo!!! I won't get those last 2, cause I didn't like Breakin' 2 and I don't wanna get 2 movies like that that I haven't seen.
LivingLegendGaryColeman 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2003 Spirited Away is pretty good. I saw it the other night and I can definately see why it won the Oscar for Animated. Awesome animation and good story... my only thing is it was so long... it just seemed to seem to last really long at points, maybe cause I was tired but a 2 hour cartoon did seem like a lot going into it, but I'd probably see it again... Saw Drumline, that one is better than expected, if going to rent a movie for the heck of it, might be a good choice... Transportal I am going to see tonight, as I have a connection to advance rentals. Benefits of being employeed by a video store. That's how I saw the other two. Guest C.H.U.D. Report post Posted April 15, 2003 Hmm... "The Transporter" or "Drumline" What to get... Swept Away is the one to get. It's a hundred times better than those dumb ass, generic flicks.
Guest Crucifixio Jones Report post Posted April 15, 2003 I haven't seen Drumline yet, but seeing as how its director Charles Stone III suprised me BIG TIME with Paid In Full I just may give it a chance. Is Swept Away Guy Ritchie's latest starring Madonna? HAHAHAHAHA~! I'd rather see generic action ala The Transporter or cocky young kid has to be reigned in and taught to get along ala Drumline before I even THOUGHT about looking at that crap. I heard somewhere that they put some nude scenes in the DVD for extras, or they're going to for a rerelease. They'll need to to sell that shitter.

Guest evenflowDDT Report post Posted April 16, 2003 No I think they were referring to Spirited Away.......an Anime movie. Yay! Hentai! Actually, I can't believe I didn't notice 101 Reykjavic before, didn't know that was receiving a release over here. Anyone here seen it, and do they recommend it? It sounds interesting (basic plot synopsis: 30-year old slacker gets his mom's girlfriend pregnant), but I've heard some reviews say it's one of those films that has an unusual relationship simply for the sake of it, and doesn't go anywhere with it (unlike, say, Rushmore).
