Guest Chuck Woolery Report post Posted April 24, 2003 I agree, but I'm thinking (and I could be wrong) that all of the CBs available that they could plug in there will probably be available when their number comes up in the second round.
Bored 0 Report post Posted April 24, 2003 Only four picks to go so we might finish this tonight. I guess I'll take the Cowboys again in the 2nd and I'll take any team that the original person assigned for in 1st Round that didn't end up showing for the pick. I'd also reccomend somebody else taking the Bengals just in case Choken does the same stalling routine in the 2nd Round.
Guest Tyler McClelland Report post Posted April 24, 2003 There's one DB I'm looking at that may fall to the late second round, and if he does, he has the potential to be a tremendous steal. Still need an RB, though... Amoz isn't gonna last an entire season, methinks.
Agent_Bond34 0 Report post Posted April 24, 2003 Didn't the Steelers draft Zereoue to become their starter later on down the line? If Bettis retires, gets hurt, etc, I think they should use Zereoue, then again, that's just me.
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted April 24, 2003 I''ll take the Vikings and Colts again.
Guest Tyler McClelland Report post Posted April 24, 2003 The problem is that he began to wear down terribly at the end of games last year. He's a very talented back when he can hit the corners, but he's not good at running out the clock at all (nor wearing down a defense).
Agent_Bond34 0 Report post Posted April 24, 2003 The problem is that he began to wear down terribly at the end of games last year. Better conditioning could probably help fix that, then again, I dunno, I don't watch very many Pittsburgh games I'll take the Bears again for the 2nd round, if we're doing one. Guest Tyler McClelland Report post Posted April 24, 2003 The guy bench presses 500 pounds, though... it's not conditioning, he's just not that big of a guy. I've been hearing stuff about them perhaps picking up an RB in the 3rd or 4th rounds, too. I'm just hoping we can manage to pull out another good DB in round 2. Guest the pinjockey Report post Posted April 24, 2003 I will take the Eagles and Panthers again. Just curious would anyone in the top 5 of the 2nd round be open to trading their pick for my two Eagles number 2s.
Guest Kahran Ramsus Report post Posted April 24, 2003 With only one pick in the first two rounds, Green Bay really doesn't have much options. I know there has been talk about going with a QB, but we need somebody who can step in and perform right away. It is a bit of a stretch, but... With the 29th pick in the 2003 NFL Draft, the Green Bay Packers select ILB Terry Pierce from Kansas State University.
Guest Kahran Ramsus Report post Posted April 24, 2003 Terry Pierce MLB | (6-1, 251, 4.77) | KANSAS STATE By Pro Football Weekly Notes: Did not run the 40 at the Scouting Combine. Forty time is from Spring 2002. Came to Kansas State in 1999 and was redshirted. In 2000, played in all but one game and started the final six games of the season, including the Cotton Bowl. Was the Big 12 Defensive Freshman of the Year with 38 tackles, six tackles for loss and three passes broken up. Started 10-of-11 games in '01 and recorded 68-11-3 and three sacks and was an academic All-Big 12 selection. Started each of K-State's 12 games in '02 and had 104-14-4 and five sacks. Left school with one year of eligibility remaining. Positives: Has very good size and decent strength. Stands out with his mobility and physical play at times. Is instinctive, reads and reacts well and is able to shed blockers. Can make the play in the open field. Is a weight man who also throws the shot and discus. Big hitter who gives good effort and pursuit. Negatives: Doesn't have great sideline-to-sideline speed and it shows. When playing in space can get lost. Lacks great hips and doesn't cover well. Limited explosiveness. Is not a top athlete. Summary: Pierce is likely to get drafted in the first two rounds after a solid junior season, but he must improve in pass coverage to avoid being a situational linebacker. Guest the pinjockey Report post Posted April 24, 2003 With the 30th pick the Philadelphia Eagles select Penn State DE Michael Haynes
Guest the pinjockey Report post Posted April 24, 2003 Michael Haynes DE | (6-3, 281, 4.88) | PENN STATE By Pro Football Weekly Notes: Father was in the military, and Haynes grew up in Panama, where he played soccer, volleyball and prep football. Redshirted as a fullback in 1998. Moved to the defensive line and backed up Courtney Brown at end in '99. Shared time and started two games in 2000. Started all but one game in '01 and led the team in sacks, but all it took was four. Had six tackles, one tackle for loss and half a sack in '99; 31-7-6 in 2000; and 41-11-4 in '01. Started all 13 games in '02, recording 80-23-15 with four passes broken up, one fumble recovery and seven forced fumbles. Positives: Great quickness and movement rushing the passer. Good athletic ability and can shed on the move. Natural rusher. Above-average athlete with good movement skills. Flashes pass-rush ability. Has enough speed and playmaking ability. Makes plays. Negatives: Does not have great power to beat first move and is not that fast. Has to improve at the point of attack against the run. Footwork improved in the last year-plus, but can get better. Lacks rare closing speed. Knows how to find the ball but could be better anticipating and adjusting. Summary: Haynes' stock went up during his senior season and spiked further at the Senior Bowl. Has a chance to be a top-15 pick but has certain first-round talent.

Bored 0 Report post Posted April 24, 2003 I had the Cowboys last round so I'll take them again. If no one minds I'd like to volunteer to take the Bengals pick as well to avoid what happened in the 1st round.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted April 24, 2003 With the 31rst pick in the 2003 NFL Draft, the Oakland Raiders select Anquan Boldin WR, Florida St. ------- Anquan Boldin WR | (6-0, 216, 4.73) | FLORIDA STATE Notes: Florida's Mr. Football in high school, when he was a standout quarterback and set a state record with 11,433 total career yards. Played in 10 games and started one as a true freshman in '99, and caught 12 passes for 115 yards and two touchdowns, rushed four times for 33 yards and a touchdown and returned three kicks for 55 yards. Caught 41-664-6 in 2000, averaging 16.2 yards per catch. Missed all of '01 season and the '02 spring after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament during preseason drills. Contended for the starting QB job prior to injury but returned to receiver after an injury to WR Robert Morgan depleted the WR corps. Positives: Big, strong, physical receiver and team leader. Great size. Has improved strength and filled out his frame. Above-average hands. Can make the tough catch and makes plays when he touches the ball. Has a good burst. Can beat press coverage and shows run-after-the catch ability. Willing, above-average blocker. Shows a second gear. Can make the acrobatic catch, pluck and snatch. Has a good throwing arm. Negatives: Has durability questions stemming from ACL injury in his left knee. Struggles beating press coverage and getting off the line. Spotty concentration and will drop some easy balls. Does not have good technique. Hurt himself with 40 times above 4.7 at the Combine. Summary: Raw, lacks top-end speed and may not be fully recovered from an ACL injury, but he should be a first-day pick because of his natural size, athleticism and huge upside. ----- I think the ACL Fears aren't for real, since he came back in 2002 for 888 yards on 55 catches and 10 TDs. Plus, he'll probably only get kick return duty this year, since the Raiders have Rice and Brown.
Bored 0 Report post Posted April 24, 2003 Woo hoo almost 2nd round time...I'll also take the Falcons, Dolphins, and Bucs if there are no hardcore fans of those teams out there. None of those teams had 1st round picks.
Guest the pinjockey Report post Posted April 24, 2003 Lets just get a list together of who wants to be in and just split up the picks evenly. Maybe if anyone wants to be in the 2nd round they have to pop in by 10:00 pm Eastern tonight and say so. That gives a couple hours to people who may not be online right now. Well also take a look at who was assigned to teams in the 1st round and did make the pick and just assign them for now. I'm just grabbing teams that didn't have a pick in the 1st. Oh and the Redskins are also available in the 2nd round for a team that didn't pick in the 1st. And of course I'll be here...so I'll wait till 10:00 EST/7:00 PST to make the Bengals pick. Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted April 24, 2003 With the final pick in the first round of the 2003 NFL Draft, the Oakland Raiders select Dewayne White, DE, Louisville ----- Dewayne White DE | (6-2, 273, 4.74) | LOUISVILLE Notes: Fourth-year junior who probably needed another year to reach his full potential but came out before his senior season. High school running back and linebacker who rushed for 1,805 yards and 29 touchdowns and had 120 tackles on defense. Also was a three-time all-state basketball player in Alabama. Had he not hurt his knee in high school, he probably would have attended Alabama or Auburn. Redshirted at Louisville in 1999. Freshman All-American in 2000, when he had 52 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, 12 sacks, one interception and five passes broken up. Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year and a Pro Football Weekly first-team All-American in '01, despite playing much of the year with a broken hand. Registered 86-23-15-0-4. First-team All-Conference USA in '02, when he added to his school career sack record (37½) with 10½ sacks despite playing with a high ankle sprain. White also had 57 tackles and 15½ tackles for loss. He also blocked one kick and recovered a fumble. Positives: A superactive, quick, sudden, explosive and disruptive player. Has some Bruce Smith-like qualities. The more he plays, the better he will get. Productive, warrior-type who is willing to play hurt. Good changing directions. Starting to put forth more effort and prepare toward end of the season and clearly took his workout at the Scouting Combine seriously. Negatives: Still learning the position. Is not as big as teams would like in terms of height. Stands up against the run. Looked sluggish and even heavy at times in '02. Doesn't always recognize and anticipate. Seems to lose focus easily. Summary: With more effort and better coaching, he could become a force in the NFL. ----- The Raiders draft the best DE left on the board, and White is one of the ones with a ton of potential.
