moral suasion Posted April 17, 2003 Report Posted April 17, 2003 The Simpsons season 3 thread made me think of posting this. For all South Park fans, the season 2 DVD comes out June 3. I personally cannot wait. South Park is my favorite show and I like to watch the DVDs of it when i get high.
Guest razazteca Posted April 17, 2003 Report Posted April 17, 2003 Is this just the repackaged volumes 4,5,6 without the extras again?
Guest Mole Posted April 17, 2003 Report Posted April 17, 2003 I don't see why they didn't release the seasons a long time ago. That best of South Park was just dumb.
rising up out of the back seat-nuh Posted April 17, 2003 Report Posted April 17, 2003 Series two box set is pretty cool (we've got it in the UK). Having an all night marathon of SP rocks!

Are there any extras? From what I've heard, Season 2 of South Park will be yet another bareboned box set with the only extra being the Terrence and Phillip special. No commentaries, as the studio won't let Parker and Stone do one for Season 2 do to the controversy involving the Season 1 Commentaries...
Guest Eagan469 Posted April 17, 2003 Report Posted April 17, 2003 What was the controversy? Warner Bros. wanted to edit/censor the commentaries that Matt and Trey recorded for the 1st Season DVD set, so Matt and Trey basically told them to "fuck off", and the commentaries were later released on seperate CD's that had to be mailed-away for (uncensored)
Guest MaxPower27 Posted April 17, 2003 Report Posted April 17, 2003 Ah, so that explains the commercial on Comedy Central. What was so controversial about the commentary?
Guest Eagan469 Posted April 17, 2003 Report Posted April 17, 2003 They rip on alot of Warner Bros. properties and celebs - it's really, really funny
Guest MaxPower27 Posted April 17, 2003 Report Posted April 17, 2003 You can only get it by mail? Or can I DL it?
Guest Eagan469 Posted April 17, 2003 Report Posted April 17, 2003 You can download the first 10 minutes of all the commentaries from Season 1 here: http://www.southparkstudios.com/show/searc...arch=commentary
Guest razazteca Posted April 17, 2003 Report Posted April 17, 2003 how many episodes are in the season 2 set? Is it more than 12 episodes? Any new intro scenes before the episodes? Is Indian Companion in it?
Guest EQ Posted April 17, 2003 Report Posted April 17, 2003 I mailed away for my South Park commentary CDs, they eventually came, but I haven't gotten the chance to listen to them yet.

Guest The Voices In Your Head Posted April 17, 2003 Report Posted April 17, 2003 Razazteca, I believe there are 18 episodes. I'm sure they'll have the intros, which if I remember right, are Matt & Trey playing music at a nursing home, and then in the later episodes they host a cooking show with everything they make involving bacon and a pig named Macon. I don't think there are intros for every episode. [the earlier DVD releases started to go out of order during the 2nd season and, skipped around]

But may be different in the states.

Guest kkktookmybabyaway Posted April 18, 2003 Report Posted April 18, 2003 My one friend just got the CDs and he's about a disc or two in, and he said that the commentaries are pretty tame, up to this point...
Guest Brush with Greatness Posted April 19, 2003 Report Posted April 19, 2003 Are the season one commentaries free? Just mail in your proof of purchase from the DVD's or what? Also, anyone have word on the long awaited Orgazmo two-disc special edition that was completed but got shelved?
Guest Bruiser Chong Posted April 19, 2003 Report Posted April 19, 2003 Sounds like a pretty crappy set to me. I know it's all about the actual show, but sometimes you can't ignore the lack of extras for a show you'd figure would have a ton. Barebone TV sets are only acceptable for older shows, where there's a lack of footage or possibilities for extras. We're living in an age now where producers of shows should be looking at a lot of stuff as possible DVD extras. I didn't pick up Season 1 (wanted to during Wal-Mart's recent online pricing fiasco, but missed out) and unless I find a deal on this one, I don't see myself picking up this set either. It's a great show, but I don't have any hangups about watching them on TV for free.
Guest The Amazing Rando Posted April 19, 2003 Report Posted April 19, 2003 Merry Christmas Charlie Manson is an awesome episode for Cartman's delivery of "hi, cousin Melvinnnnn"
