Agent_Bond34 0 Report post Posted May 6, 2003 I'm a Bulls fan, so I'll put it this way. Antoine Walker = Jalen Rose. I'm a Bulls fan as well, however, lets not forget that Jalen Rose doesn't have Paul Pierce on his team to bail him out.
Agent_Bond34 0 Report post Posted May 6, 2003 Kobe did step up and almost won the game but Horry is an idiot and lost the game. Almost doesn't count around playoff time. That is very true. Just be sure to let Tracy McGrady know that.
Guest The Grand Pubah of 1620 Report post Posted May 6, 2003 Lakers are finally seeing that a team who plays defense is alot more difficult to beat, than a team that leaves Kobe Bryant wide open for easy shots. Horry fucked them out of a win. Kobe was in total control of that game until Horry got that tech. Hell, it's just one game. With George getting hurt I will say that the series will probably go 7 now. Lakers will still win.
Guest Spicy McHaggis Report post Posted May 6, 2003 I'm still not that afraid, Laker-haters. In fact, I think the Spurs should be a little nervous... It took Rick Fox being out, Devean George getting hurt, no role player except Derek Fisher in double figures, a Kevin Willis half-court shot, Robert Horry's technical foul, Shaq being fouled out, and three times the number of free-throw attempts for the Spurs to win by five. By FIVE. The Lakers will not shoot 39% for the entire series, that will go up. The rest of the team also should contribute more. George will be the biggest problem. But the champs can handle it. The Spurs better get on their game because they aren't going to get that many breaks in a single game again.

The Spurs better be scared.

Duncan DID have more attempts than the Lakers as a team, that is indisputable. I never said that was the whole reason the Lakers lost, but there's no doubting it as a contributing factor. I'm just giving you the numbers, 35-12... almost three times the number of attempts. I will agree with you that other factors, such as George's injury and Horry's piss-poor lackadaisical play were also major reasons the Lakers lost.
Guest Lethargic Report post Posted May 6, 2003 Have I mentioned that in a best of seven series the beter team will win 9 times out of 10? The Spurs better be scared. If the better team wins then why would the Spurs be scared? They are far and away the better team. Lakers have Shaq and Kobe. That's great. After that they have nothing, now more than ever. Unless Shaq and Kobe both end up averaging 40+ for the series, they are done. Just look at the rosters and wake up. Be a Laker fan but don't keep your head in the sand. George is done for 3 weeks. That means the Lakers do not even have a small forward on the roster at all. I'm sure you'll think that means nothing just like the Fox injury but just look. Lakers only played 3 people off the bench last night. Now that George is gone too, that means they have 2 bench players while every single player on the Spurs bench is fully capable of playing minutes and contributing. Only 2 players didn't play last night. Shaq and Kobe are great but as great as they are they can't take on a team as deep and talented as the Spurs are by themselves. Unless one of the rookies like Pargo or Rush come out of nowhere and break out, they're done.
Guest Polish_Rifle Report post Posted May 6, 2003 Laker fans complaining about officiating is like HHH complaining that he lost a tag team match and thus is getting buried by the company. The refs take the Lakers' side most of the time, so Laker fans should stop leaning on that crutch to explain why they lost Game 1.
Guest AlwaysPissedOff Report post Posted May 6, 2003 The C's will win the series because nobody can stop Pierce when he's on. That's all fine and dandy, but who else is going to score with Bubba Walker standing outside throwing up ridiculous shots every game? I mean, really, they got by during the Indiana series because the Pacers imploded. If it was the Pacer team from before the All-Star Break, Boston would have gotten slaughtered. Hell, if I had a choice, I'd take the Sixers role players before anybody else on the Celtics except for Pierce because at least they don't think it's still college. Guest Polish_Rifle Report post Posted May 6, 2003 Employee #8 may have a bad attitude, but he can still carry the Celts when needed. Tony Battie, Walter McCarty and Eric Williams will step up big time in this series and negate K-Mart and Jefferson's effectiveness. The only thing that the C's need is for Delk and JR Bremmer to contribute consistently against Kidd.

Guest Bricks Report post Posted May 7, 2003 Lakers over Spurs in 4. I figure the Lakers' wins over the T-Wolves were way convincing, while the Spurs had a tough time with the Suns who aren't as good as the T-Wolves. Plus past history in the playoffs, and I think it'll just be a repeat. where are you Laker fanboy? Umm, Lakers in 5. Yeah, that sounds right. Of course, not having seen any Spurs games except that Game One against Phoenix, I didn't know that Ginobli was that good. My optimism isn't high as it was, but if Kobe doesn't take 38 shots and just dumps it in to Shaq, I still believe the Lakers can take this. Plus, Phil Jackson is already complaining about the refs, thus they'll probably get some dubious calls in Game 2.

I'm a Bulls fan as well, however, lets not forget that Jalen Rose doesn't have Paul Pierce on his team to bail him out. And thats why the Bulls won like 30 games. It'd be the same with Walker. And I'm not going to say Kobe is a shitty bum like those two, but he takes WAY too many shots. He makes a lot more of his, of course, since he's, y'know, good. But it still hurts his team. Someday Phil will have to sit down with Kobe and explain to him that Shaq is the best player in the entire league and maybe he should get the ball a couple times in the fourth quarter? Kobe's shooting is very comparable to Iverson. The difference is, who else would take AI's shots? Van Horn? pfffft. Meanwhile Kobe takes on double teams head first when he has Shaq standing under the basket.

Guest razazteca Report post Posted May 7, 2003 I did not expect the Mavs to lose by so much. They need to learn how to play defense fast. I hope the Mavs win at least one game in the series.

I think they were just tired after playing Game 7 on Monday. They did not have enough time to scout and prepare for the Kings so I’m expecting them to put up a better fight come Game 2. Guest Polish_Rifle Report post Posted May 7, 2003 Robert Horry should have been suspended and fined for assaulting the Admiral, but since the Lakers are short handed, David Stern will not penalize him. Expect a lot of bad calls against the Spurs tonight. It is amazing that Shaq fouled out for the first time in the playoffs considering the way he plays. He should be out of fouls within the first 5 minutes of any game.
Guest Ripper Report post Posted May 7, 2003 So the lakers have some injusries...wah...Nobody said anything that year of their second championship when the lakers RAN through the west. Of course the Blazers lost Bonzi Wells, Webber was playing on one leg in the second round, Derek Anderson(the Spurs second leading scorer) was injured in the West Finals and the Sixers were dead men walking. Then of course there is last year when the Kings leading scorer was out with a bum ankle. Injuries happen..its part of the NBA. Thats why you build a TEAM. The Spurs are a different and better team than last years. They had a bad game one and they won. Lets not pretend the Spurs played up to thier ability. Plus they missed 14 freethrows. That would make that 5 point win look a little different now wouldn't it. The spurs have a better point guard...back up point guard. A better Small Forward, Better power forward and back up..two damn good two guards a damn fine center and a 40 year old workhorse at back-up center. PLUS they have guys like Ferry, Kerr, and Steve Smith to round out thier bench. They simply have a better team.

It wasn't that big of a deal, except it cost the Lakers the game. Don't you mean the people that cover Shaq should be fouled out in the first 5 minutes? He gets raped everytime he gets the ball but only half of them are called.
