Come on Spurs. You're letting a team who plays only 9 guys and has no real inside game keep it close.

Well, the Spurs blew a lead again; this time it was 19, and this one did come back to bite them in the ass. Free-throws also fucked the Spurs, gotta make those.

The only thing this loss does is give the people who said this series would go 6 correct.

Helluva comeback though. Not as good as the Laker 30 point comeback against Dallas, but a good one nonetheless.

If Dirk comes back in Game 6 can Dallas pull it off?

If San Antonio could make free throws they would have steamrolled through the playoffs.

No. Look at games 1 (although the Spurs blew it), 2 & 3. The Spurs are the better team, they just need to make sure they make their free-throws and not blow the leads. Then again, Dallas scores in bunches, so it's not shocking for them to make a comeback.

It's not time to push the panic button if you're the Spurs. They've blown leads before and they will do so again, but they still only need to win 1 out of the next 2 games.

Exactly. This isn't the first time the Spurs have been like this; the Suns and Lakers series' come to mind. A lot of people said they were shaken up after L.A. nearly won game 5, but IMO, all that really did was wake the Spurs up, they ended up finishing off L.A. on the road. If you're a Spurs fan, just remember that "Road Warriors" slogan. And for those who don't know what that means, it's a nickname the Spurs have had for quite a while, due to their ability to win on the road.

I expect game 6 to be close, if not down to the wire.

Does anybody here watch NBA 2night on ESPN2? What happened to Will Purdue? Did he suck so bad, that they already got rid of him?

I hated when they'd ask Purdue something like,

"Will, you're a 4-time NBA champion, so you know what it takes. Does Dallas have that championship heart?"

Alright, Will might have four rings, but he probably played a combined 48 minutes in those four championship series. Just because someone was on the same team as Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen and then Tim Duncan and David Robinson doesn't mean they know anything more than the next guy.

I see Tony's pattern. I think once the Spurs lose a game, they snap back into form. They lost game 1 in this series and they take the next 3. I think they'll put the Mavs away tommorrow.

Any Spurs fan that can still say that they deserve to be in the Finals may proceed to lick my balls.

A team that chokes as much as the Spurs do when it comes down to crunchtime don't deserve it. Dallas wants it. Go Mavs.

I disagree. Any team that beats the Lakers 5 on 8 in a 7 game series deserves all the acolades they get. That's not to say that Dallas is undeserving. I will be happy if any of the 3 remaining teams win the title and I think the competition is good for basketball.

I'd say it's the opposite. Any team that chokes that much and gives up those big leads but are STILL talented enough to overcome that and get to the finals deserves more respect.

ah yes, here in san antonio, we are used to the spurs breaking our hearts. then again, while it is easy to say the spurs choked (and they did), dallas isn't a fucking pushover. the crazy nellie lineups presented matchup problems for the spurs and 10 points in the 4th quarter will do any team in. spurs still win the series but it would have been nice to do it on the home floor.

The Spurs only have to win 1 game and they don't blow road games like they do home games.

Whoever is defending the Mavs as a team that deserves a spot in the finals and the Spurs don't....My God man. You do realize the only reason the Mavs are still alive is because Scottie Pippen, Derek Anderson and Chris Webber's knees all exploded at just the wrong time, right? Yes the Spurs blow leads in games. Dallas blew a 3-0 lead against Portland, a team in complete disarray at all times. Then Dallas proceded to be on the verge of going down 4-1 to the Kings and Webber's knee/leg/lower half of his body finally just says "fuck it" and collapses in on itself.

Essentially, I'm not a huge Spurs backer but I respect that they took out a VERY tough HEALTHY Phoenix team and then destroyed the defending champions. Granted, they were without Rick Fox but it's RICK FOX. The most useless 3 in the league.

I'm sorry, I'm rambling.

Anyone that has ever played organized ball know that it is harder to keep a lead than it is to comeback from a defecit. If you are behind big, you can gamble, you can take shots that are outside the offense, you can switch up the D all over the place. When you are in the lead, you HAVE to play conservitive. You have to try and run your offense, no gambling on defense...that is how it works.

If one team is up 19-20 pts, its because the other team went on a drought. The same thing can happen the other way. That's how the ball bounces.

People should not overlook the fact that Dallas is a very dangerous team. This is not some scrub bunch that made it here on fluke injuries alone. They are for real and could very well be the next world champs!

The phoenix suns are not a team of the caliber that should be giving a championship team fits. The Spurs destroyed the Lakers, and should be given all the credit in the world. BUT, the Spurs had the benefit of the Lakers hurting, and the fact they match up well against them. That said, they were one shot away from possibly losing in the second round if Horry's three fell. (Thank the lord it did not, cause i would have cried.)

Giving the Spurs ANY credit at the moment is way too soon....wipe those p*ssies from dallas out and take out a ready nets team, and then they'll get all the accolades they deserve.

beating the nets doesn't prove anything. the nets play in the junior friggin varsity conference of pro basketball. to be honest, if the nets team was in the west, they wouldn't have even made the playoffs whereas any west team (1-6) playing in the east would have been the #1 seed in the east. the west is deeper, more talented and a harder road to the finals than the east.

THAT is completely untrue. If the Nets were in the west they would still be a top team in the league. The East top teams had very good records against the west top teams. Most of them split the season series.

When the Nets win the championship(and yes, I do believe they will) Everyone will still say that it is that the Spurs or Dallas are week and still won't give them the credit they deserve.

"The phoenix suns are not a team of the caliber that should be giving a championship team fits."

They had the 3rd best record in the league before the Hardaway injury, dropped to number nine, and when he came back and got back in shape, they went on a massive winning streak to secure the 8th spot. They went 3-1 against the lakers with one game going into overtime, 3-1 against the spurs, I believe they went 2-2 with the Mavs and 2-2 against the Wolves, 3-1 against Portland and 2-2 against Utah. The only west playoff team with a winning record against them were the lakers and they got the third win with a buzzer beating shot in overtime. They are a top caliber team.

if the nets beat the spurs then it will be an upset of great proportions, akin to the patriots beating the rams in the super bowl but i honestly don't think they have a chance in hell.

The Nets have way too many bad loses to be in the top tier in the Western Conference. They aren't the Lakers who in most years can get away with it.

honestly, when jason kidd was in the western conference, he was just another good player who couldn't get the job done. he comes to the east and all of a sudden he is an mvp candidate? please. this is the same reason i think kevin garnett will eventually end up in the east. he is getting his ass handed to him the west. in the east, he may have a fighting chance of getting out of he first round.

Jason Kidd was a great player in the West. Jason Kidds years with phoenix featured the most injury riddled squad I can remember and they never had the talent and defensive abilities of the Nets. Don't let the little espn article fool you, while the east is weaker, the Nets are one of the best teams in the NBA...period.

What are you talking about. Any team that wins this year will be a deserving champion. They went throught he grind of an 82 game season and managed to win 16 games in the playoffs without cheating.

The championship team will probably fall short when being compared to great championship teams in the past, but they will still be deserving champs for the 2002-2003 season.

Jason Kidd was still developing as a player when he was in Phoenix and Dallas. It's true that if some players from the east would not be all-stars if they were in the west, like Brad Miller, but that's not to say that the East is a pushover conference.

Look at someone like Jimmy Jackson who had star written all over him in Dallas, but his stock dropped while he was bouncing around the East (Philly, Cleveland, Miami, etc.)

And last time I checked, Stephon Marbury is putting up career numbers now that he is back west...

Don't forget Elton Brand made the All-Star team after he came West.
