Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted April 18, 2003 A few years ago it was boybands and teenage female pop stars. And while they're still popular they're not the "in" thing. Pop/Punk had a little run and it's still popular. Most reciently it's been the whole dirty-garage-sounds-like-it-was-recorded-in-a-basement sound (White Stripes, Queens, Vines, Hives, Strokes). And somewhere in the middle of all that "Nu-Metal" with it's clever spelling was it. What's going to be the new thing?

Guest razazteca Report post Posted April 18, 2003 Rap Mix Tapes will be big if you thought DJ Clue and Funk Master Flex were bad just wait until the day when everybody has their own personal DJ mixing tracks for the crew. It will be like "yo yo yo this is <DJ Sucka>, here is the hot new shit by the <insert label name here> and I want to give a shout out to my peeps in the hood who keep it real"
Guest caboose Report post Posted April 18, 2003 Silence will be the next big thing. Seriously.

Guest Choken One Report post Posted April 18, 2003 I am feeling we're slowing Inching our way back towards Metal like the 1980's. I expect a Surge of Bands Led By Shadows Fall and new Breed to bring us back to the way it was in 1987. Will we see Spandex and Big Hair and Glam? No...We're coming into Post-War America and Weak Economy America and that would mean a changing of the guard in terms of our music... The New Generation of Kids will become disinterested in the Nu-Metal rapcore styles... Bands like Disturbed, Shadows Fall, Killswitch Engage will all lead the way... Then the Metal Craze will split into two... One Pop-Metal ala Glam Rock and Just Plain Metal. Rap is slowly returning to the Way it was in 1993. Wars are starting to formulate... Aftermath Vs Murder Inc will become a Major blood war similar to East/West...only this time...It's legit heat.

As they will migrate to appearing on TRL instead of 106 & Park to keep it real for the bottom line.

Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted April 18, 2003 And if/when Shadows Fall becomes one of the top 10 highest selling bands in America...I will be there to laugh in the faces of those that think Of One Blood is their first album, going "you don't even know who their original singer was," and then remembering how fucking awesome it was when only 10 people in my town knew who the band was... ...yes, I will become an elitist fuckwad when my favorite band becomes huge. But, I don't see that happening for a while. I wouldn't be surprised if psychobilly bands like Nekromantix become popular. The music is fun, well-crafted, and the lyrics are pointless horror movie fun. If Nekromantix can stay in the running long enough, they'll probably gather a cult following just a little less grand than the following for The Misfits. Guest IDrinkRatsMilk Report post Posted April 18, 2003 50 Cent is the next 2Pac, you heard it here first. Bubblegum pop will be back, it always jumps in and fills the void when whatever the big revolution is loses steam. There's about one of them every decade. I'm not sure what it's going to be, but it's going to be theatrical and extravagant.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted April 18, 2003 U See...50 can't rap for shit...He has the Aftermath Empire creating it for him... Why can't Em just be the next 2pac? If there ever was one...

Only way Shadows Fall will get anywhere near that big is if they go the Metallica route. And none of us really want that to happen do we?
Guest Still Fly Report post Posted April 18, 2003 50 Cent will never become the next 2Pac or even try to even think that he is. Rap is not moving back to 1993. Thats plain absurd. Aftermath vs. Murder Inc isnt even like Death Row vs Bad Boy because Aftermath vs. Murder Inc is probably the dumbest fued in the history of rap. Who cares? Guest razazteca Report post Posted April 18, 2003 Nobody will be the new 2Pac, hell there is already 2 clones trying to keep it real. Eminem = Beastie Boy 50 Cent = Death Row/Aftermath co-dependent rapper.....leader of the Dogg Pound, well in his case GGGGGGGGGGGGGGG Unit.
Guest MrRant Report post Posted April 18, 2003 G Unit? At lease the Dogg Pound sounded cool. I mean... if you got your ass beat by the Dogg Pound it would be a lot better than having the G Unit kick your ass.

I'd predict that Tiger Army would get bigger, faster than Nekromantix simply due to their association with the major label darlings AFI. Not that I'd mind. Tiger Army are one of my favorite bands.
