Metallica has a new logo. It's designed by Pusshead who has done stuff in the past for them and the Misfits.

Doesn't look too radically different from any of their old shit, so if you hadn't mentioned that it was new I wouldn't have thought that it was. Dunno if that's a good thing or not.

And I want my cheeseburger medium-well.

Fleh. It's got kind of an electricity type deal. I'm still not buying the CD. I've learned my lesson now.

Cheeseburger: Medium-Rare.

I said this in a thread at Wrestling-Titans (now featuring THE DAMES):

The logo reminds me of a logo an indy hardcore/punk band might use.

I guess in an effort to get back to how they were pre-Black Album, they're also going for a pseudo-indy logo. Makes sense to Lars, I guess.

EDIT: Make it a double-cheeseburger, medium-well, with ketchup and mustard and lots of pickles. Preferably a Sesame Seed bun, too.

I'm glad everyone likes the cheeseburger reference so much...that makes me smile. :D

It looks like something from a band who's trying too hard to say...

"see look we're serious...we're really going back to our roots...please love us old fans"

...I'm not buying it

Fuck Lars

Hmm.. What does this say to me?

Well, it says Metallica, that's simple enough to see, but the white stuff surrounding it? Is it supposed to be pointy edges? Fire? Some kind of radiation or something? Cum?

Other than that, it's pretty pedestrian, but nothing overly offensive.

Also, I just now noticed that you can switch around the letters to spell "Camel Tail" That's what they should've named the album.

I think I'll vote "no."

I'm not a big fan of Metallica, but that logo is not that good. No matter what their logo looks like, they will always sell million copies.

The general stupidity of Metallica nowadays (LARS), can be summed up by this simple process.

Step 1: Listen to 'One' by Metallica.

Step 2: Go to metallica.com and read Lars opinion about the recent invasion of Iraq.

Step 3: Look for the hypocrtical contradiction.

Step 4: Laugh at Metallica, and Lars in particular.

--------------------------------------------------

On a side note, I'm a huge Metallica fan, but no amount hype is going to get me to believe they've reverted to their 80's style.

Q. Did Bob 'Pop'-Rock produce the new album?

A. Yes.

Q. Is Lars still in the band?

A. Yes.

Q. Is it 1984?

A. No.

Q. Will I buy the new album?

A. Yes.

Q. Will it be better than Load/Re-load?

A. How can it possibly be worse?

Q. But Will it be actually any good?

A. I doubt it.

Pointy edges = record sales

Pointy edges = record sales

I could name about 100 various metal bands where that theory absolutely does not apply.

It looks like a rendering of their logo on a really shitty bootleg t shirt. But it doesn't sway my opinion on them either way, so nevermind.

New cover art:

Best burger ever:

1. Find Lars

2. Chop up Lars and cook him

3. Put his meat in between bread

4. Add whatever extra ingredients you want

5. Eat him!

That solves the Metallica problem, next is brain surgery for James.

Can you elaborate on Steps 1-3 so I don't actually have to go to metallica.com ?

I can't find his comments on Iraq, but I'm going to make the assumption that the views expressed about Iraq contradict with the views expressed in the song One. To this, I say:

1. It's not really their opinions being expressed in One. It's the opinions of Dalton Trumbo, who wrote the book "Johnny Got His Gun" which, the song is based on. I mean, sure, they probably agreed with him, but I'm just sayin'.

2. That song was written over 10 years ago. Are you gonna tell me that none of your opinions, on anything, changed in the last 10 years? Are you the exact same person you were 10 years ago?

Hey, I'm just saying, 10 years is a long time, and people change. Don't call people hypocritical because they changed their opinions on something in the last 10 years. Not that I'm trying to defend Lars, really, because I'm sick of the bastard too, but hey, I just figured I'd toss this out there.

Oh, and the cover art looks dumb.
