Man was that match cool. Now I know what all the hype was about.

Oh sooner or later I'll do an Analysis of it.

I've also viewed the match for the first time just a few days ago. In Your House: The Greatest Matches covers about 15 minutes of the match, so I was able to get the gist of it.

It's absolute gold on many levels.

I was watching it this morning, and well it makes you wonder if they were going to put Jarrett over, and if not why not.

Well, judging from the main event we know why not, but there ya go. Awesome match.

I find it funny that Jarrett proceeds to wrestle he best match and look great, and within two weeks he storms out of the WWF.

He was actually gone the next day, according to the following night's Raw.

I believe PWI voted it as the runner up or 2nd runner up for MOTY, with HBK / Diesel taking the top spot.

I thought the match was very well done but going into the PPV, which I have the commercial master of, I figured HBK would - at best - pick up a DQ or count-out victory but not walk away with the belt. I thought the match was just put together to put more heat on the champion, that he could always escape with the title even when he was facing a guy that came within seconds of winning the world title at WrestleMania.

If you guys can ever find a copy of that entire PPV - get it. Jarrett singing "With My Baby Tonight" (well, it's actually Road Dogg singing but that's fine) is gold! The music video they aired on Superstars was cool too.

I'm a total Jarrett mark.

I hate you.

I'm also a big Jarrett mark- I love how he would always strut and yell: AIN'T I GREAT! Jarrett is the man

Why did Jarrett leave in such a huff? Was it because of the creative direction? Was it the 'who sang the song' deal?

Posted

The story that I've heard was that he didn't like the direction he character was going - that he couldn't really sing, etc. Seems like a rather lame reason to walk out on the WWF, which makes me believe there has to be more to it than that.

Keep in mind Road Dogg walked out too as both men were on the verge of a feud.

They were going to have a match at Summerslam. They had an article about it in WWF magazine

jarrett's only real decent match. i think you guys are giving it more credit than it really deserves. the problem lies in the constant interference (that figured in the end of the match), the fact that hbk had no reason to fight for the IC title and the reliance on cheap heel tactics make me think you guys look at the past with the rose clored glasses.i f this match came on today, we would be shitting on it, not praising it.

Opinionated much?

Jarrett's only real decent match? Um, okay ;)

The only downside to the match is the stalling but, if you think about it, just about every big or important match in the past 20 years has had its fair share of stalling. I don't think it's that we're looking at the past with rose colored glasses - I think it's just that 1995 blew chucks and this was one of the rare highlights.

And by the way - cheap heel tactics rule!

The stalling is there for a reason. Jarrett is trying to frustrate HBK and get him off his gaurd, because HBK is normally cocky confident and cool.

This is my second favorite HBK match after only the Mind Games match with Foley.

IYH 2 was a pretty decent show overall, although it may not appear that way on paper. This is also my 2nd favorite HBK match behind Mind Games.

I loved this match tremendously...

I don't blame Vince for harboring a grudge against Jarrett...Not only did he hold out for money in 1999...

He left the company the night after they gave him his own personal BLOWJOB Pay Per View in his Hometown...

At least he did the job for Chyna.

He could have walked with the belt and disgraced it on WCW TV.

I don't blame him for holding the grudge either...to a point. If Jarrett could have made Vince money that grudge wouldn't be held any longer (Hogan, Austin, EVEN RUSSO was let back in). So while I understand the grudge...I have no respect for the sincerity of the man holding it.

Well vince's arguement would be "He did it twice"...

I'll give you Warrior...But Austin? Only left Vince Once...

Austin walked out after Wrestlemania and walked out in June- so he walked out twice

That was my first ppv I ever ordered. Todd Pettingale acting like such a tool with JJ band is worth the price alone.

I proudly own a copy of this Show...I musta watched the Jarrett concert a billon times...

Pettingil is GOD! The way Vince keeps pimping up the guitarist as if he's some sort of star is both funny and typical mid 90's commentary Vince.

Oh, and the backing singers didn't seem in tune...AT ALL! The song's pretty decent I guess, and Road Dogg's a surprisingly good singer, but those backing singers?

Also worth mentioning...after the match, when Dok 'Don't call me Freebird' Hendrik was informing us of the Jarrett/Roadie fight, and he starts going CRAZY...that's one of those thigns you don't know whever to laugh at, or be shocked at.

There's a big difference between having your plane detained or being caught in traffic than straight up going home and not giving notice.
