Guest Mole Posted April 20, 2003 Report Posted April 20, 2003 I know there is a 24 topic already, but I just rented 24, the first 4 episodes, on DVD. From what has happened so far, this show is amazing. There are soo many stories, and they all mix together. Everything is just, woah, I have to either go buy the DVD or just rent the rest from Blockbuster. I know that some certain people die from reading it somewhere, so that sucks. However, I am still in suspence from like everything. I wish I didn't waste my time watching Smallville, and decided to watch this show instead. I won't jump into this season now because I won't get any of it, so I'll just wait till the second season comes out on DVD. I'll then watch the third season when it starts. I am offically jumping on the bandwagon for this show.
Guest MaxPower27 Posted April 20, 2003 Report Posted April 20, 2003 The first season is worth seeing. If you've only seen the first four, wait until the stories actually get going.

How much will it cost to rent all the DVDs from Blockbuster? Depending on how often you plan on watching it, you may be better off just buying the set. Some people think it has really limited rewatchability, but it's something to think about. And yeah, don't bother watching season 2 at this point. There's like 5 episodes left, and you won't enjoy it nearly as much. The season 2 DVDs come out in September, FYI.

That is what I was thinking, but it comes out to $30 for renting all 6, and I have already rented the first three. No point in buying it right now, maybe later when I get more money. And episodes 5-8 weren't as good as the first four, but the story is still picking up, so I'll be done with all of them by Thursday, so we'll see.
The Dames Posted April 22, 2003 Report Posted April 22, 2003 Are you fucking INSANE? Isn't episode 5-8 where Gaines puts Jack on surveillance and makes him do all sorts of fucked up shit? I mean...come on, that was the best one! Dames
Guest MaxPower27 Posted April 22, 2003 Report Posted April 22, 2003 Not to mention the great lines: Jack: If he's not Alan York, then who's the man with my wife? Gaines: He's not an accountant from the valley, that's for sure. Dan: Well, maybe she wasn't quite...dead. Gaines: There's no such thing as 'kinda dead'. You're either dead, or you're not. Here, let me show you. *shoots Dan in the head* Congratulations Rick, you've been promoted. Gaines: Bury your friend. Rick: Where? Gaines (annoyed): In the ground!

I mean...come on, that was the best one! Dames I think my problem is that I am watching them all at once, so it is soooo slow. It is like watching a movie that takes forever to get to the plot. I think that if I watched it on a weekly basis, then it would be better.

I think that if I watched it on a weekly basis, then it would be better. Um, I had the opposite experience. I watched them all together like that too, and I found it incredibly taut and exciting and couldn't wait to get to the next disc. Yes, even the... Spoiler (Highlight to Read): amnesia. Though I didn't watch them as quickly as you may have, though. I watched maybe between 2-4 episodes a day. If I sat there for hours & hours, I'd get pretty sick of it too.
Guest EQ Posted April 22, 2003 Report Posted April 22, 2003 BAH! I watched Smallville over 24 last year, and I don't regret it. I've since caught up with 24, but don't diss my Smallville
Guest Mole Posted April 22, 2003 Report Posted April 22, 2003 I can do it with Buffy because maybe I like Buffy more, or because all the episodes don't come together, I dunno.
Guest Edwin MacPhisto Posted April 22, 2003 Report Posted April 22, 2003 I watched the first season over about...10 or 11 days, I think. I started out on a rate of two hours a day, but by the time I got to the end I did 8:00 PM to midnight in one orgiastic rush of viewing. The first few episodes are AMAZING, and then the rest is amazing in a different, more subtle way. Gaines is my hero.
