Goldberg's hissy fit

His "HAHA WHAT AN IDIOT! WHAT A MORON! EVERYONE LAUGH AT HIM! HE'S A BUMBLING FOOL WHO CAN'T DO ANYTHING RIGHT AND HE WILL NEVER AMOUNT TO ANYTHING, THAT STUPID MIDCARDER TRYING TO PLAY WITH THE BIG BOYS! WHO THE FUCK IS HE KIDDING? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" Three year run fucked him up BIG time. Serious Angle actually made him look like a threat.

I agree that some of the jobs he took as well as some of the more embarassing stuff (why did HHH have to pull his tights down?) didn't help, but he was f'n hysterical doing his goofy stuff. I still remember things like the tiny motorscooter and the cowboy hats and stuff.

No argument. Still keeps him MIDCARD4LYFE because they didn't even try to pretend that that was a serious main event competitor.

And FWIW, I completely stopped caring for Kurt during his serious run in 2001.

As much as I would like to blame HHH for Steiner’s burial, the only person to blame is Steiner for his woeful in ring performances. On the other hand if HHH buries Goldberg and has him feuding with Maven in a couple of months he will be my new hero :D . Fuck Goldberg.

Goldberg won't be for the sole reason that he has creative control in his contract and they're obligated to make him headline X number of Pay Per Views.

That's what has been worrying me ever since they signed him. The "creative control" clause is one of the main reasons WCW no longer exists, and to sign anyone to a contract like that, let alone a guy with Goldberg’s reputation is insanity.

Goldberg was none too pleased about doing the segment with Goldust on RAW Monday night. Apparently Goldberg questioned the decision to put the blonde wig on his head, but was later talked into it by management. Goldberg has been telling people backstage that he is extremely frustrated with the way the company has used him thus far

Geez he has been misused of all of 3 weeks.....

POOOOOOOOOOOR Goldberg!

As much as I think its stupid that he is complaining about it, I have to say that segment really showed that WWE will NOT do this Goldberg thing right. They made him look like a complete goofball there. Implimenting comedy into segments with Goldberg probably isn't the best idea, when you think about it. And he shouldnt be made just a part of the WWE "team" like that, I would much think it would be logicial if he was a little bit of an outsider at least. 1.5 million down the shitter already, just because for some reason Vince wont fucking get rid of the hollywood yes man booking. F'n sad.

I dont think he's got the creative control after all after seeing the shit on Monday with Goldust.

Stupid comedy is why Angle cant draw and now they are doing the same rubbish with Goldberg.

Not really. If anything Angle, while having his character have a humor/comedy twist to him drew more than bald and boring Robo-Angle. Removing that aspect from his character rendered him boring aInd one-dimensional and no longer a draw.

I completely, completely disagree.

You're missing the point AS. If Kurt HADN'T played that character he wouldn't have gotten over in the first place. Because his matches were heatless till he cranked up the laughs.

I liked the 2003 one although I feel it was handled horribly. But him in the Alliance was like.. WTF.. Then when he switched sides back, it was like a big sarcastic "Wow." I mean, what kind of motivation would he have for joining WCW in the first place? NONE.

With the shaved head though, he might as well stay in serious Kurt mode. The guy was funniest at the goofy stuff when he looked like a Wheaties box cover come to life. And with Austin gone, it's not like he's going to look like a ripoff or anything.

Angle as a comedy character was, bar-none, hilarious, fresh, and entertaining all the time. However, the argument that AS is trying to put forth is that Angle as a bumbling comedy character can't be a threat as a main eventer.

A lot of Triple H fans didn't care for "the Game" persona after he dumped DX. The reason that was done was that DX HHH was a midcard character. The aim was to create a more serious heel main eventer instead of just some long-haired goofball who told dick jokes.

How can you be a heel main eventer when everyone laughs at you? The object is to get the marks to want to see you get your ass kicked, not grudgingly love you because you make them laugh their asses off. It's not so bad when you're a midcarder, a la E&C, since they were sneaky pompous pricks.

Kurt could still be a wisecracking goofy face and possibly be a main eventer at the same time--Foley was even less serious than he was and still worked great. The Rock is an excellent example, who still had an aura of menace and intimidation although he's also funny.

As a heel, it's more difficult. Humor can be used, but more sparingly. It can result in a difficult balancing act.

There's also a big difference between laughing with someone an laughing at them.

Not the character so muc as the Brock feud. I didn't see too much wrong with the character itself.

"laughing at" characters are rare (usually because someone complains, I guess) and can get really over.

With Rock, he had everyone laughing at someone else. Big Show's only marketable point ("Hey, he's BIG!") was destroyed after Rock spent months making fun of his gestures, his slowness, his crappy promo skills, etc. Rock would completely bury guys and get more and more over by doing so.

This is why I think heel Rock on Raw is the greatest thing. For instance, we need someone to bury Jeff Hardy, because if I have to listen about what a "fine upstanding young man" he is one more time, I'm going to consider suicide as an option.

OTOH, Kurt just had everyone laughing at himself. It was like a sadist version of Rock.

But that's Laughing with the Rock. It doesn't hurt the Rock at all.

It was Rock & Crowd laughing at another wrestler.

It's one thing to make yourself look like a moron to get over, it's quite another to do it at the expense of everyone else.

How Rock never ran into some kind of backstage politics issue before he got massive is beyond me.

There is a difference between having a goofy comic segment in the background and then what you do in the ring...

Rock can do that backstage stuff because in the ring, he sells to everyone like he got shot. hell He sold to the Hurricane... even HHH did that.... must have been his birthday or something. In any event

Nothing is damaged beyond repair from some goofy comic insult angle in the back...

Rock still sold to Big Show, and made him look threatening... He took a Chokeslam through a table by Show at Royal Rumble 2001.

So no real damage done.

Hearing JR and King repeating the 'fact' that Jeff's 'conflicted', followed by King's comments about Trish's puppies, was much worse.

Goldberg is being set up to fail, the Clique won't allow him to succeed in the WWE.

Um....isn't it good that the stars complain that they are being made to look like assholes? I'm not a Goldberg fan, but the rug being pulled out from under him going into a ppv is not a good thing.

Too true. Not that I'm complaining too much...

Vince and Co. are trying to break down the mystique of Goldberg, humanize him a bit, make him more of a character. The problem with that is Goldberg's badass monster persona is all he has. Lose that, and you're left with a older generic big guy with three moves and no acting talent. And if you think he was unmotivated before making all that sweet Turner money and being pushed to the moon, imagine how much he'll hate being there as he's molded into a wise-cracking wrecking machine with a heart of gold (no pun intended). Not to mention the wall he'll hit once he enters Clique Country. How soon after will we hear about Goldberg no-showing, no-selling, and making himself more of an unwanted backstage asshole ready to either bail or get cut?

Not soon enough for my tastes.

F.G.B.

I only think that argument would work if Goldberg was actually entertaining or a "draw". So far, he's proven to be neither. Wow, he can make faces and scream..... -_- *yawn*

AS, I think he meant Kurt's god-awful babyface run in which his character was dead serious (and given a patriotic slant) and ended up getting out-popped by Austin who was pushing over old women in an attempt to get heat.

Kurt became what he parodied: and it didn't work. Rather than trying again, Vinnie Mac did what Vinnie Mac does best: Go back to what worked before.

And so, Goofy Kurt got another run. But don't pretend "USA" Kurt never existed.

Yeah, being put in the main event with the biggest star in wrestling in the first month of being with the company must truly suck. I'm sure everybody else on the roster would hate to bee misused in this way. Fuck Goldberg.

The hell are you talking about? Steiner is in a HUGE feud with the tough enough loser kid now.

Things are looking good :D

Steiner was in a fued with Triple H. Huge difference. :P

I do agree with JDM--fuck Goldberg. He's never going to be happy unless he's sitting on his ass collecting a paycheck again.

Either that or on another manufactured win streak, or (dare I say it) doing what HHH is doing at the moment; keeping 85-90% of the roster down and staying on top.
