Bittersweet

 

Heh, just a little over one month ago I was living the highlife. But now my tag partner and I… both out, him, maybe for good. Abandoned, aching and alone, but I’m a trooper right? Just keep plugging away and it’ll eventually happen. I’ll eventually get my due…

 

“It’s just hard, ya’ know?” says Francis to no one in particular, rubbing his temple, as he stares at the TV, blinking away his headache before pressing rewind.

 

I gotta’ stay here in this chair, nothing to do, but flex my damn knee until it gets strong enough to support my own weight and watch it over...

and over...

 

I needed the break, but still...

 

Mark didn’t even know I was off active duty. My doctor had to tell him. I had surgery a goddamn week before hand. How can the director of talent relations not know I’m out? He just left a message on my tape… like I’m supposed to just show up and work through a knee injury not to mention post concussion syndrome.

 

And Williams is back, from his own concussion no less, while I'm still on the shelf… with an ICTV shot at the pay per view. The man I beat in the longest time limit match allowed. In the end, I kicked out of everything he had and all it got me was put in this rehab center. It's...

 

"Bittersweet," mumbles Francis, attempting to reach an itch on his leg...

 

But I’m not sulking. No, I’m not bitter… I just want to know that going through all that for the US title was worth it. And I couldn’t just take a break because that’s not what everyone expects of ‘the Franchise’. The US title had to mean everything to me, even though I was wrestling for the ICTV in my first month bumped.

 

None of that matters though…

 

The tape stops as Francis presses play. He's rewound the tape so many times, that he knows the exact place to restart the show.

“Hey, I’m champ. I get certain priviliges that I didn’t have before, Amy. And if you can’t deal with that, then I suggest you don’t bring it up again. If you really want to, I’ll have someone come pick you up later.”

 

“I don’t care.” Her response is cold, void of all care and happiness. Mike shrugs his shoulders and goes back to sitting down on the chair.

 

“Well, it’ll be waiting for you. I’ll see you after I finish up here with the girls, OK?”

 

Amy doesn’t even bother answering as she angrily turns with tears starting to form in her eyes, Mike smiling as he waves to his wife. Once she’s gone, he goes back to getting his massage as he looks over at his US Championship, grabbing hold of it from Michelle before he smiles and points at his US Title, remarking to himself:

 

“And THAT'S why I get the champion bucks, the champion perks and the champion tag!”

Because I lost to Mike Craven…

 

Francis glares at the TV set, itch still bothering him, but his gaze stays put. The itch now all but forgotten, his grip on the remote slowly tightens, until his hand begins to quiver...

But he quickly loosens his grip and slowly it creeps across his face. He smirks...

 

Cause my time will come and my due will be paid. One piece of many to the proper puzzle.

I have a feeling Mak will be ready to kick ass when he comes back, which is quite cool with me .

A couple of points towards this excellent promo:

 

1) Does this cement the possiblity of Mak coming back (which I learned he wasn't just a day or so ago... whoops)

 

and

 

2) Do I want to really know what "Gobbies" are and why it's called a "Gobbie"?
