Nintendo Entertainment System

I was flipping channels today and saw this program on TLC about the early days of Nintendo. They talked with the developer of Zelda and Tetris and Mario and such and it reminded me of how awesome that first system was.

So I ask, what are the odds of Nintendo making the old NES console again? I already have it, but it's so old and it's always a pain in the ass on even getting the game to start. I think they should re-release it and a few of the classic games.

Who's with me?

Alot of the games have been or will be remade for the GBA and with the new converter add-on for the Game Cube you can play the games on a tv legally.

In my opinion, these emulators are just not the same.

I need to check out Animal Crossing though. I've heard things. What games can you unlock on that? Zelda, Donkey Kong, and what else?

Hell, I would prefer the old NES system as oppose to playing it on a PC or next gen system. There is just something about a two button controller when playing Nintendo that seems right. Just make the controllers more in the shape of the NES Max.

BTW, though cool, Baseball Stars is no RBI.

Seriously, for a pure baseball simulation nothing is as good to play as RBI baseball. Sure it is dated and has its flaws but it is the best baseball engine ever. RBI II, RBI III, Dusty Diamonds, Bad News, Little League World Series, Bases Loaded, Baseball Stars II, etc, nothing could match it.

I would love for Nintendo to re-release RBI on a new Nintendo with a full set of rosters from around 87-88.

Playing the Super Mario Advance games is the best example of remaking a game while keeping the orginal intact. Especially what they did to SMB2 and Yoshi Island. When will my favorite NES game of all time SMB3 going to get the Super Mario Advance treatment?

They actually did Re-Release the NES. They made it a top-loading system so that the games would actually play without you having to fuck with it.

If they re-released the top-loader, I'd buy one... they are pretty rare and you're going to pay a pretty penny if you want to buy one now.

I've seen them for $100+ on ebay.

It's "Super Mario Advance 4" - it'll be out by Christmas

Zelda, Punch-Out!, and Super Mario Bros. are the 3 big "holy grail" games in AC (I have yet to find them).

I have Soccer, Pinball, Golf, Excitebike, Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong 3, Donkey Kong Jr., DK Jr. Math, Clu Clu Land, Clu Clu Land D, and Balloon Fight.

There might be more, too.

Did anyone ever own the powerglove? It's so bad.

I loved how it showed the kis using it in the commercial for Punch Out. But when you tried the same things youself you'd get your ass kicked.

Worthless toy...almost cool to have one now though

You're right...they're better. No more pesky blowing, slamming, pushing, jimmying the cartridge just to get it to work. They just start right up!

I still have my NES and all my games.....and yes, it still flashes endlessly when I turn it on...

Aren't those card readers capable of holding old NES games now? With that kind of capability they could probably make a really cheap system available.

I still have my NES and even some old games. It's not even worth it to sell it anymore, so I play it whenever the mood hits.

I sold all my old consoles on eBay except for my PS2, because I have them all on emulators. My PC is like the ultimate console. In the console directory of my PC I have Sega Master System, Genesis, NES, SNES, GBA, Nintendo 64 and PSX. Of course, I also have Mame, which has like 3800 arcade games. I like my PS2, but my PC owns it big time for games.

I bought a Tri Star 64 for my N64. It's an adapter that let's you play NES, SNES as well as your N64 games all on one system. Pretty damn sweet.

How well does it work though? I bought a Tri Star for SNES (let you play NES, Japanese & Euro games) and the reception was shite. Constantly these lil horizontal lines going up and down the screen. That is, if it even decided that it was going to function at all that day in the first place. =\

Where did you get it from?

I would be interested in picking one up.

Mine works pretty well. I haven't had any trouble with the games yet.

I do get the lines but only on certain games, or maybe it's just more noticable on certain games. I found it on eBay. I searched the net for the title and found a few sites, but ultimately found one on eBay, I believe it was about 50.00 or so.
