If we can be POSITIVE for a minute...

Recommended Posts

Guest RavishingRickRudo

Why must this resort to, once again, just bashing me in one way or another?

Why must you always been the victim? You started the thread, you should be prepared for whatever happens in it and deal with it.

I'm not even CLOSE to writing off WWE, even though I understand that we have many problems.

Neither was I a few months ago... things change. Here, look at this:

"Throughout my life there has been a few constants, and one is wrestling. As far as I can remember it has always been there, now more than ever. I am hoping I never get tired of it, never stop watching it, and never, ever, be ashamed of watching it...."

-27/04/01

I would like to say that I watch the WWF just to complain about it. I would, I really would. However, I do not enjoy hating the WWF; I take no pleasure, nor delight to bash them as I do here. It is a shame that the WWF can’t be perfect, or even great, or even good all the time. I complain because I know how good the WWF could be, I know their potential, I know that they can be great regularly, however they don’t, because they want to make more money.

THAT is why I watch (not the money); the potential. Look at the roster, it’s the best it has ever been, think of all the feuds that can come of it. Look at the WWF video library, once they bother to acknowledge their history we could enjoy everything that the WWF (and WCW~!) once was, and wonder at what they could be. Look at all the TV time the WWF has, look at the possibilities!

Another reason, and perhaps the most important, is the fact that I am addicted to it. I have been watching Wrestling for over 12 years; it has become ingrained into my being. To be without it would to be without family. It has become apart of my culture, my habit, my life. To just give it up would be insane. It would have to take a period of long and arduous storylines, full of constant betrayals and lies and bullshit to get me to stop watching. However, I have felt like quitting TWICE in my lifetime, both were this year. But something always pulls me back, be it a great promo or match, SOMETHING, JUST ONE THING can pull me back and say ‘See! Look! Its getting better, there is good in the WWF!’ and I will continue to watch, FOR that great promo, FOR that great match. THAT is why I watch the WWF.

-November 27th, 2001

Get it? I was just like you, never thought I'd stop watching - thinking "forever and always - nothing can break me". Well, guess what? It B-R-O-K-E. And it will break for you, you will realize that Vince McMahon does not care about you and then it will all change. You will realize that all of your dedication to the WWE means NOTHING to him and that he would climb over you just to get 2 more fans who will only watch for a tenth of the time you will. And it will HURT. It will hurt you to know this, because you know what? It does hurt to know that all the effort you give is just laughed at and spit on over a titan. When you truly realize this, your tune will change.

I DO however think that many, if not all, could be solved with correct booking, that's all.

Wow golly that's simple! They have to change the way they look at the fans first. Stop seeing us as "marks" and instead seeing us as Consumers and fans.

The only time I even came CLOSE to cracking was the night that I saw HHH simulate sex with a dead person. That night I sent emails to EVERYONE. I found every WWE address and sent it to them all, I sent it to every major news site on the net, and I made a huge ass post bithing about it here.

And you know what they did? They didn't care, cause they went right ahead with the Al Wilson storyline.

If that event did not cause me to stop watching WWE, or to write it off, nothing ever will. Well...

LOL, this is funny cause I said it too... Not about Katie Vick, but I remember saying something like this in the past.

What I am talking about are the people who come here and tell us how proud they are to still be marks. Choken comes to mind. The people who proudly tell us how they watch shows as marks and enjoy the product even though it sucks. They tell us to just watch and enjoy instead of "trying to find faults". Ect.

It's like it's this awesome privalge to watch the show as a "mark" and people act like we should want to be like that. Like watching as a smart fan is a BAD thing.

Outside of last week's Raw and parts of Smackdown (more pointless backstage skits), I've been enjoying the WWE lately. Even though he lost at WM, Booker T and Jericho are still fairly prominent on Raw, John Cena has been getting a good push, I HAVE liked Piper's Pit the last couple of weeks (Piper can still cut a bad ass promo), I'm always fairly entertained by the Women's division, Mattitude, Taker ("You guys ain't wearing a wire, are ya?"), um...and just seeing HBK wrestle again (although his character sucks these days). There's still a lot wrong with the product, but it's better than it's been.

Why are people like proud of the fact that they watch shows as marks? You always see like "I mark out for NASH~!" like it's some kind of wonderful thing.

simple.

I cheer who I want to cheer. I boo who I want to boo.

it's not a wonderful thing...it's free will....

and it's something that should be respected.

if I choose to cheer for A-Train and the Big Show on Thursday and I came on here spouting that...I'd be flamed to hell....same if I came here and started supporting HHH's politicking...

I'm never going to do that because I don't feel that way about people....but if I did do it...it wouldn't be a wonderful thing...it would be my choice.

I choose to mark out for Nash.

I choose to mark out for Goldberg.

I choose to mark out for Piper or the nWo or whomever I damn well please...

That's free will..........

and even things like cheering Jericho and booing HHH might seem like a Sheep Mentality to some members of this board....it would still be free will...it could very well be biased towards a group...but it's still free will to follow...

It'll happen one day Downhome, don't worry. Like Rudo said, it really hurts. If you've cared as much for wrestling as I have for as long as I have you won't like it.

I like Goldberg, The Rock, Christian, The Hurricane, Chris Jericho, Sean Morley, Lance Storm, The Dudleyz, & RVD to an extent on RAW. I also like Randy Orton when he is healthy and all of Ric Flair's mannuerisms. I like the fact the the world title doesn't change hands too often...even if the reason for that is due to bullshit.

I Smackdown I like the majority of the roster...and I like Tazz & Michael Cole progressing as a two man commentating team.

I don't mind random upskirts either...

It's kind of stupid to say that DH will crack soon. Obviouslly, he likes the product enough to be positive. He's not in denial like some of you guys would like to believe. Christ, the product isn't that bad right now. there is still some entertaining stuff going on. Sure, it could be better, but it could also be a lot worse.

Ah, Shucks, You mentioned me.

I have no problems if you watch raw or any WWE programming from a Smark perpective...

I am just saying, U tend to enjoy things more when you try not think about what is stupid and wrong with it...

I am not saying watching Necrophila was great as a Mark, God No...In hindsight...It was fucking HILARIOUS.

But I mean if you Watch Raw as a "Mark" you might find self going "It isn't THAT bad"...When we watch as Smarks we tend to go

"God-Damn Politics" "Fuck HHH" to anything...Even it's a Commerical for a PPV...

Back to the topic

I am enjoying ALOT of Wrestling right now...

Only stuff like 3MW and Maven and the Women's aren't appealing to me...

I am watching now looking at SOH, Cena, Lesnar and Matt Hardy as the future in 8 years...

Hey! Let's LOOK for things that are good with Raw! Let's try REAL hard because lord knows it can't be entertaining on it's own! We must TRY! TRY HARD! We must try to be entertained because it's not the WWE's responsibility to give us a good product, it's our responsibility to convince ourselves and others that it's good.

Plot Holes? Oh, you're just thinking too hard! You're being picky! You shouldn't THINK when watching Raw because then you are just choosing to be upset!

Wrong guy pushed? Cruiserweights buried? Skits that go nowhere? Oh, that's the way it has always been, you have to accept certain things when watching Wrestling. Remember, it's not their fault, it's YOURS!

It's called a happy median, dude. NO, you shouldn't be looking hard to find something that entertains you. But you also don't have to be the biggest critic about every little thing. I might just be a huge mark or something, but I don't have to search for something that entertains me. I'm sure others feel the same way. But I guess if you do, then it is good that you don't really watch anymore.

DING DING DING! We have the buzz-line! Yep, that's what they all say. Guess what? The gap between the current product and how GOOD they could be is WAAAAAAAAAY bigger than the gap between the current product and how BAD they could be.

I tried real hard for like a minute and a half.

And then I realized it shouldn't take effort to be positive.

Downhome, The day I realized that watching has become a chore, it hit real hard. I still can't sit in the room for a whole segment. I have to walk around. DH, You WILL meet your Waterloo, and it will hurt. But don't blame us. Blame Vince.

Why are some people so bent on trying to convince others to stop watching the show? Yes, we know that the product is not where it should be, but for the most part, we enjoy those 4 hours (6-7 hours for some) every week. Are you so insecure about your decision to quit watching that you need some reassurance from the rest of us?

But you also don't have to be the biggest critic about every little thing.

I'm not. My Standards are completely reasonable considering the potential of the company. I don't want insulting storylines, I want things to make sense, I want Good-Great matches, I want to see the hardworkers get pushed, I want to see variety in the programming, I want competent announcing, I want value for my time and money.

I might just be a huge mark or something, but I don't have to search for something that entertains me. I'm sure others feel the same way. But I guess if you do, then it is good that you don't really watch anymore.

Yep, it's good that I, someone who has been watching as long as he can remember, who stuck with them through the dark days, someone who once was very passionate and caring about it, someone who's loyalty wasn't rewarded, stopped watching. THAT'S GREAT!

That right there is my entire deal. I would MUCH rather focus on the postive aspects of something that I love so much, rather than all of the negatives.

If you need to make a post just so something good can be said about the WWE, then I pity them AND you. Actually I don't pity you, because I once was like you and can understand what that sense of "forever and always" is like... It's ok, it's ok to cry now... The WWE sucks and you're standin tall, but there is only so much you can do... it's not your fault, it's not your fault... look...it's not your fault..

Ease up, bizznatch. Having a wide variety of tastes is hardly a crime and since when is liking good wrestling one too? The sad fact is that in just over a year Ring of Honour has gained more of my respect for their fan oriented approach then the WWE has through years of Smackdowns, Raws....fuck, I was at WrestleMania 18 for Christs sake. Oddly enough it was after Mania that my downward spiral began.

You know what champ? You're right. I suck for having standards. I suck for enjoying good wrestling. Go back to watching HHH vs Nash, there's plenty of room on my side of the world where American Dragon, Chris Benoit, Kenta Kobashi and many others have a home.
