You make a decent point, however they're reality shows. Wrestling is scripted (shock!) and thus can be manipulated and changed to incorporate whatever the 'buzz' is on into its system.

 

Due to this fact, and the apparent A Grade Hollywood writers that Vince has on his team, wrestling and WWE should be able to stay reletively modern and appealing despite what's cool and what's not, in turn keeping interest at a good level.

The bottom line is that DH doesn't, at least to me, come off like he REALLY enjoys the product. He doesn't say "I like RAW". He says "RAW is not that bad", "RAW has flaws but I overlook them", "RAW is ok if you think positively". When DH, and others, talk like that it makes you come off like you're not being honest with yourself and that you're just trying really really hard to like the product.

I don't have to try all that hard to find something I like on RAW, I just put more stock in what I do enjoy instead of allowing the many negatives to just consume me. I mean, fuck, we did it back in the early 90's and at many other times, I don't see what the big deal is now in my doing this.

 

In my opinion, WWE is not as bad as WCW was at it's lowest, and when WCW was at it's lowest I never missed a show/PPV.

You're right: I know there are flaws. But I do not, I repeat, I DO NOT, defend WWE product as a whole. For fuck's sake, I just say what entertains me and would rather focus on that. Christ, I complain about WWE, a lot. But, at the end of the day, I would rather think about and enjoy the things that entertain me. There are parts I like, there are parts I don't. There are some wrestlers that I like that aren't very good at all, but like I've said before, I don't disillusion myself about what role wrestling plays in my life. The WWE used to play quite a large role. It's role now barely registers a blip on the radar that is my life. I've found much happier things to occupy my time, like old All Japan matches, downloading Ring of Honour matches and watching my Best of Cactus Jack in ECW DVD.

 

But I can't let the WWE die like this. It's cemented it's place in my heart due to childhood memories. Fuck, do you think I LIKE standing by and watching a piece of my childhood go to shit!? Do you think I enjoy seeing Chris Benoit being treated like a second-rate worker when he is the best thing they've got going for them?

 

The answer, obviously, is no. I don't like this. Bitterness is not something I relish, nor crave. It sickens me to the point of mental torture on how good the WWE could be but how they choose not to be. Why it doesn't do the same to you, I'll probably never understand.
