Guest art_vandelay Report post Posted April 21, 2003 That's not the correct name, I know. I can't remember it. It's an old Japanese game show series translated into English. The dubs are purposely bad and obvious. It's like Kung Pow, for those who've seen it. Much like Kung Pow, the commercials for this show did not appeal, but the show itself is really funny. They've got these wild and hilarious stunt-like games that only Japanese people can think of. Remember when the Simpsons went to Japan and competed on a game show? It's not that crazy, but close. Now there are two good comedies on TNN. This, and Raw.
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2003 I loved Kung Pow.......this show on the other hand was funny at first, but got a little annoying after awhile.
Guest HHH123007 Report post Posted April 21, 2003 I watched it while I was waiting for Velocity to come on....it was very entertaining. I'll keep watching if people keep getting hurt in weird-ass game show stunts...
Guest CED Ordonez Report post Posted April 21, 2003 Is this the old school Japanese endurance show? If one of the first challenges was to lay on a skating pond while a firehose sprays on you, I think I may have a reason to watch TNN again.
Guest RedJed Report post Posted April 21, 2003 Anyone know when they will have a replay of this on? I forgot about it, but it looked wild in the previews.
Guest Fook_Hing_Ho Report post Posted April 21, 2003 I thought it was hilarious. I couldn't stop laughing at the names they gave the contestants.
Guest razazteca Report post Posted April 21, 2003 Its Takeshi Castle game show. The only problem I have with the show is the dubbing itself to me it seems as bad as the FMW announcers with lame bad jokes. This show sounds like a B-Rated Iron Chef with the voice overs not doing much for me. The contestants being renamed Jim-Bob Smith when they clearly look Japanese!?!?! Think of the product placement they could do here if they just named a few contestants after cars or lawn mowers.
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted April 21, 2003 I was pissed cause it was on at 8, same time as the Simpsons...but I was pleased that they showed another one right after it. It was entertaining. I don't know if it's something I'll go out of my way to watch. But I'll catch it again.
Guest hardyz1 Report post Posted April 21, 2003 I think it's hilarious that these obviously Japanese people have names like Ken and Mary. And when they get hurt. That's gold.
Mecha Mummy 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2003 I watched the last couple of minutes of it before Velocity. Funny stuff. I wanted to watch it last night but they were re-airing last week's Buffy because a Mariners game pre-empted it, and I decided to watch that instead.
Guest SP-1 Report post Posted April 21, 2003 It's hilarious. But then my friends and I get a kick out of people getting randomly speared or otherwise hurt so it's right up our alley.
Guest art_vandelay Report post Posted April 22, 2003 I think it's hilarious that these obviously Japanese people have names like Ken and Mary. And when they get hurt. That's gold. And when they say things like "This is for all my homies!" or "My name is Jimmy and I'm going to win this competition for my team!" That's funny too.

Guest Hotbutter Spoontoaster Report post Posted October 16, 2006 SpikeTV's MXC Is Back for Season Five With the Most Shocking Matchups to Date! The new season of SpikeTV's side-splitting hit comedic series, MXC, is back for a fifth season, premiering Friday, November 10th at 12AM (ET/PT). Complete with the most outrageous match-ups yet, the new season of 13 episodes kicks off with the premiere episode irreverently pitting "Gay Rights" against "The Religious Right." In this long-awaited, controversial first episode, Adams and Eves combat the Adam and Steves in painfully hilarious competitions, including "Sinkers and Floaters," "Dope on a Rope" and "Rotating Surfboard of Death." Season five of MXC will continue to have viewers' jaws dropping and doing double takes with all new showdowns, hysterically painful challenges and an absurdly comical script. New match-ups scheduled for the fifth season include: MySpace vs. Superheroes, Sexual Pioneers vs. The World of Violent Films, Famous Stoners vs. Health Nuts, Famous Felons vs. Babe Magnets and The White House vs. The World. This critically-acclaimed comedic series is a combination of Fear Factor, Jackass. and Iron Chef, with a touch of Mystery Science Theater 3000. Using the actual footage from one of the most popular primetime Japanese reality game shows, Takeshi's Castle, the new series is re-written to create an entirely new comedic storyline. The series is not dubbed and there is not a single trace of literal translation from the original show.
