Guest Marshall Report post Posted April 22, 2003 I don't know, it looks a little corny from here. Hulk looks like Shrek on steroids.

Guest C.H.U.D. Report post Posted April 22, 2003 The movie may be good, but Hulk looks so cartoonlike bad it's hard for me to pay attention properly. His horrible CGI looks keeps distracting me.
Guest Blue Bacchus Report post Posted April 22, 2003 I don't think he has horrible CG. He looks real to me. But I still think the flick is gonna suck Donkey Balls. Marvel is due for a bad flick. Spidey, Blade I & II and Daredevil have all been good.
Guest DrTom Report post Posted April 22, 2003 ::mawrcs out:: I'm there. Even if it ends up sucking, it's the freaking Hulk on the big screen.

I agree with C.H.U.D. on this one... the CGI just distracts me from the movie. I would be more attracted to it if they went with how Sci-Fi did the Hulk in their little mini-series. Guest Lethargic Report post Posted April 22, 2003 I'm amazed at how good the Hulk looks. I never expected that. Besides that little clip in the dream sequence, there is not one second in this movie where he doesn't look believable and real to me. I think he looks friggin awesome. I would be more attracted to it if they went with how Sci-Fi did the Hulk in their little mini-series. What Sci-Fi mini-series?

Sorry, I was thinking of something else. I meant the TV movie found here. EDIT: I reminded watching it when I was very young. Guest El Satanico Report post Posted April 22, 2003 The Hulk looked just fine to me. Problem is when you're dealing with something like The Hulk, just about anything is going to seem fake looking. No matter how good the cgi or makeup is, a giant green man is going to seem fake to most people. Personally I'd rather have the hulk look fake as cgi that can do thing hulk is suppose to do, instead of the hulk looking fake as a muscle head with green body paint and a mask that can't do the things Hulk is suppose to do. But either way it's going to seem fake.

Guest SP-1 Report post Posted April 22, 2003 Yeah, Ang Lee's presence allows me to look past any CGI misgivings. But like it was stated above, no matter what you do here, it's gonna look a little fake. Heck, DD and Spidey had some sequences where the CG stood out. I dunno, it looks so incredibly fake all I could think while watching it was "Man, that looks horrible". There wasn't one second where I believed he was actually physically in the film. Just horrible.
Guest Lethargic Report post Posted April 22, 2003 Like El said, I think find it a lot easier to believe in the Hulk. To me, the Hulk shouldn't look real. He's 10 feet tall and green. If he looks a little fake every once and a while, well...duh, he is. But it's nowhere near as bad as Spiderman. Spiderman never looked real even when he WAS real. Guest SP-1 Report post Posted April 22, 2003 I saw DD for the second time last night, and there were a few shots where I was like, "Ugh." The biggest giveaway for CGI is movement. Humans don't move that. . . fluidly. It always stands out if it's around for any extended length of time, and it always rings of fakeocity.
The Dames 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2003 I LOVED DareDevil, but I only had one glaring moment of CGI action/poor storytelling. Both DD & Bullseye have powers...right? So, it's ok that they're flying around. But Elektra...a mere human with training, a great body and some sais jumps ACROSS buildings and shit to face Bulleye. BullSHIT is what that was. The CGI in Spider-Man was horrible. They would have been better off using wires and blue screen.
Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Report post Posted April 22, 2003 I'd rather take some cartoony CGI, over some fucking bodybuilder who will get laughed off the screen. Some people have talked about The Hulk "looking fake." I ask those people: How would YOU do it, and still have Hulk do all the things he's doing in this movie that are sure to cause mark-outs for comic book fans. Guest Nanks Report post Posted April 23, 2003 I'd rather take some cartoony CGI, over some fucking bodybuilder who will get laughed off the screen. Eric Bana is no "fucking bodybuilder". He's a fucking legend. For those who doubt him, you HAVE to get the Chopper DVD. I'm not sure if this movie ever came out in the US or not, as it's an Australian film. But it is absolutely sensational stuff. Eric Bana rocks. He actually happens to be an excellent comedian too. The Australian invasion of Hollywood continues.... Guest DrTom Report post Posted April 23, 2003 Um... I think he's referring to the casting of THE HULK, not Bruce Banner. As in, CGI is better than some bodybuilder to represent a nine-foot tall green humanoid who can toss tanks around and jump city blocks with one spring. Guest Nanks Report post Posted April 23, 2003 I was under the impression that Eric Bana will be actually playing both roles. Obviously not the superhuman capabilities side of things, but just playing the Hulk using a similar effect to what they used to make Robbie Coltrane look huge as Hagrid in Harry Potter. As a pretty gifted physical comedian, he'd do a really good job with the facial expressions
Guest red_file Report post Posted April 23, 2003 Seems good. My only quibble is that the trailer seems to present the movie as "Hulk on the run." I haven't read any synopsis of the film or read the script (anyone care to link it?), so I'm wondering if that's a fair representation of the film. If it is, that doesn't seem very appealing. I thought the CGI was fine. But then I didn't have a problem with any of the Spidey CGI.
Guest pochorenella Report post Posted April 23, 2003 Just saw the trailer and it got me really pumped up for the movie. Of course it really helps that I went on the HULK ride on Islands of Adventure just a few weeks back. They have banners (no pun) for the movie all over the ride, so you know its JUNE, JUNE, JUNE! Can't wait for the movie.
Guest DrTom Report post Posted April 23, 2003 I was under the impression that Eric Bana will be actually playing both roles. The Hulk is a CGI creation. They could model the face and facial expressions on Bana's to have some carryover to the digital green giant, but that would be the extent of it. Considering that The Hulk has always been Bruce Banner's dark, twisted, angry side manifest, it doesn't necessarily have to look anything like him.
Guest The Grand Pubah of 1620 Report post Posted April 23, 2003 WOW!............. FUCKING WOW! And by the way, the CGI looks a-fucking-mazing. I'm not sure if some of you guys saw the same trailor.
