Guest edge007 Report post Posted April 22, 2003 I have a few questions to fire at some people, so here we go! I'm interested in people's opinions... Just curious: 1. In your opinion, what was the best angle ever? 2. In your opinion, what was the best pre-match promo (you know, ones before a PPV Match) ever, so far? 3. Biggest Wasted Talent 4. Biggest Payoff (stars, etc. that led to something good) 5. Best PPV 6. One reason why Raw (or smackdown) is better than smackdown (or raw) right now 7. Funniest piece of unintentional comedy by WWF/E ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Also, in regard to the Backlash 6-man, Jericho just looks like some guy, thrown in at the last minute (the 6th man) to make the match work...don't you agree? And as for Christian, i think he is very underrated...as is Hurricane. I really do hope that the WWE comes to the senses soon, and gets back on the right track. Guest Cerebus Report post Posted April 22, 2003 1. In your opinion, what was the best angle ever? Kane vs Undertaker #1 & Austin vs. Vince (before it got stale) 2. Undertaker kidnaping Stephanie MacMahon & being saved by Austin (mostly because I saw it live ) 3. Kanyon & RVD 4. Kurt Angle 5. WM X-7 6. Smackdown is better than Raw because it has better announcers, same quality promos (for the most part), AND ACTUAL WRESTLING!!! 7. Hogan's tour in the Dungeon of Doom (Ow! THIS WATER'S NOT HOT!!! I KNOW YOU! I KNOW YOU! I KNOW YOU!) Forget about Jericho I think Booker T looks out of place! 5 white guys and then Funk Master T? It's like he's the token black guy. And I would agree that Christian & Hurricane are underrated but they have been getting a lot of well deserved attention lately so I really can't say that

In your opinion, what was the best pre-match promo (you know, ones before a PPV Match) ever, so far? A hype video? 3. Biggest Wasted Talent When he was alive, Owen Hart. Now, Jamie Noble 4. Biggest Payoff (stars, etc. that led to something good) ??? 5. Best PPV Wrestlemania X7 6. One reason why Raw (or smackdown) is better than smackdown (or raw) right now Smackdown > Raw. Two words: No Clique 7. Funniest piece of unintentional comedy by WWF/E Already a huge thread on this

And as for Christian, i think he is very underrated...as is Hurricane. I really do hope that the WWE comes to the senses soon, and gets back on the right track. 1. I'm going by what events in recent times had me glued to the screen and I actually looked forward with great interest to the following week's wrestling. The first that come to mind are the nWo (96-spring 98), the Millionaires Club vs. the New Blood (April - August 00), the Hart Foundation pro-Canada storyline (April 97 - November 97), and most of 1998 in regards to the WWF (Austin's rise to world champ, DX vs. Nation, Taker / Kane, etc). Of those, I would say the nWo was my personal favorite. 2. I don't regard these as the "best" (can't think of any ***** pre-match promos at the moment), but my favorites include Piper's at Royal Rumble 92 ("Weeeeeeeeeeeeell ... what we're dealing with here is one of the original Villiage People! ...") and Bret / Bulldog at Summer Slam 92 ("Look in these eyes and tell me you don't know me, that' you've never met me. Do you remember back to when I was the one that introduced you to my sister Diana in the first place. And as far as your career in the WWF - I'm the one that helped you the most. You wouldn't be where you are today if it wasn't for me. And as far as this big dream ... this big dream of winning the World Wrestling Federation Intercontinental title in front of 80,000 of your compatriots ... well I think this big dream is going to turn into a nightmare and when you wake up tomorrow morning you're going to feel like you woke up in the dungeon ... of Windsor Castle.") 3. Speaking WWF. At the moment: Chrstian ... in the past: Jerry Lynn 4. The biggest that stands out in my mind at the moment is WrestleMania XIV. You have Stone Cold Steve Austin, who 3 years earlier was a washed-up WCW wrestler going nowhere fast, in the most important match at that time in his career against Shawn Michaels - with Mike Tyson as the referee. The WWF was able to take Austin, who had been doomed to midcard purgatory, and make him the focal point of the biggest PPV of the year and the PPV largely responsible for the WWF overtaking WCW in the ratings war. 5. Not sure how to go about determining what makes one pay-per-view better than all the others. The ones I never get tired of watching are WrestleMania VIII, WrestleMania X-7, Summer Slam 92, Royal Rumble 90, and Royal Rumble 92 - with X-7 being just a little bit better than the others overall. 6. Smackdown! is better than Raw for one very simple reason. It lacks a Triple H. 7. I don't laugh at the poorly-done stuff (Jackie Gayda in the ring, lame angles, etc) - I laugh at the crap they ram down our throats (Sable, Torrie, Bud Light girls, Nathan Jones, etc). Of that, I get the biggest kick out of Triple H acting as though he's our lord and savior. Jericho is God and should be prayed to on a daily basis. Same goes for the Hurricane. Guest Kahran Ramsus Report post Posted April 22, 2003 1. In your opinion, what was the best angle ever? Ted Dibiase tries to buy the WWF Championship from Hulk Hogan, and then hires Andre the Giant to get it after Hogan refuses. 2. In your opinion, what was the best pre-match promo (you know, ones before a PPV Match) ever, so far? I don't know about pre-match, but best post-match interviews were by Flair & Savage after their match at Wrestlemania VIII. If you are referring to the videos, then my favourite is the one leading up to the Winner Takes All Match at Survivor Series 2001. 3. Biggest Wasted Talent Right now it is Jamie Noble. He could be as good as Matt Hardy on the mic, and he is miles better in the ring. All time I would say Ricky Steamboat's 1991 run. That was just pathetic. 4. Biggest Payoff (stars, etc. that led to something good) Ricky Steamboat vs. Randy Savage at Wrestlemania III. That is how you blowoff a hot feud. 5. Best PPV Wrestlemania XVII 6. One reason why Raw (or smackdown) is better than smackdown (or raw) right now Smackdown is better because wrestlers actually have the chance to move up. Benoit, Team Angle, Cena, Brock, Angle (before the injury), etc. are all better off then their RAW counterparts. Cena may not have a chance to win the WWE Title at Backlash, but he could have a shot 6 months from now. That is why Smackdown is better than RAW, where guys like Booker are going nowhere. 7. Funniest piece of unintentional comedy by WWF/E Hogan vs. The Undertaker's Bike

DiBiase trying to buy the WWF Title from Hogan. 2. Can't remember any that were memorable. 3. Jamie Noble 4. Que? 5. WM 17 6. I can't say either is better than the other right now. 7. Taker's bike no-selling Hogan. Damn, that was funny. ----------------- Maybe. You could say the same thing about Book, as well. Christian sucks and Hurricane is just an average cruiser with a goofy gimmick.
Guest caboose Report post Posted April 22, 2003 1. In your opinion, what was the best angle ever? Sting chasing Hogan and the nWo. DOES NOT INCLUDE THE PAYOFF. 2. In your opinion, what was the best pre-match promo (you know, ones before a PPV Match) ever, so far? Jericho, I AM NOT A JOKE! 3. Biggest Wasted Talent Brian Pillman 4. Biggest Payoff (stars, etc. that led to something good) Hogan being the third man in the nWo made it. 5. Best PPV Wrestlemania X-7 6. One reason why Raw (or smackdown) is better than smackdown (or raw) right now Smackdown is better than RAW because of Rey, Benoit, Mattitude and Thuganomics. 7. Funniest piece of unintentional comedy by WWF/E Triple H's phallic obsession with his sledgehammer
Mecha Mummy 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2003 1. In your opinion, what was the best angle ever? Andy Kaufman, Intergender Champion OR Raven vs. Dreamer 2. In your opinion, what was the best pre-match promo (you know, ones before a PPV Match) ever, so far? The Rock saying that he can win the Royal Rumble... IF he can somehow manage to eliminate Crash Holly and Headbanger Mosh. 3. Biggest Wasted Talent Raven in WWF 4. Biggest Payoff (stars, etc. that led to something good) HBK vs. Austin with Mike Tyson as the Special Ref 5. Best PPV Best I saw would be... uhm... either Summerslam last year or Wrestlemania XIX. *Laughs embarassedly* 6. One reason why Raw (or smackdown) is better than smackdown (or raw) right now Smackdown is better than Raw because it focuses on new stars. 7. Funniest piece of unintentional comedy by WWF/E Last night, HBK getting pantsed. At least I pray that was unintentional.
David Blazenwing 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2003 1. Triple H's Comeback in early 2002 2. Anything The Rock has to say 3. Rey Mysterio... they could have done a lot more with him by now than they have 4. I'd say Summerslam 2002, but Brock vs. Rock was TOTALLY anti-climactic, you alreafy knew going in that Rock was going to lose, so I'd say... No opinion on this one. 5. WrestleMania X8 (What? He didn't say X-Seven? How DARE he!) 6. RAW is better for one reason... more comedy and storylines. If I want to see non-stop wrestling, I'll order a PPV 7. Unintentional? I'd bet NOTHING is "unintentional" when it comes to Vinne Mac
Guest Plushy Al Logan Report post Posted April 22, 2003 7. Hogan's tour in the Dungeon of Doom (Ow! THIS WATER'S NOT HOT!!! I KNOW YOU! I KNOW YOU! I KNOW YOU!) Best angle ever. Now on to the questions: 1. See above 2. I'll get back to you on that. 3. Ricky Steamboat or Vader in the WWF. Kurt Angle. 4. Hogan vs. Sid at WM VIII we never saw Sid in the WWF for another 3 years 5. WM VI or VIII 6. I watch Smackdown because my cable was recently shut off. 7. I just imagined Kamala vs. Nathan Jones Every Rose Has It's Thorn!
Guest Army Eye Report post Posted April 22, 2003 1. In your opinion, what was the best angle ever? nWo, BATB '96 through Starrcade 97. 2. In your opinion, what was the best pre-match promo (you know, ones before a PPV Match) ever, so far? To be honest, I don't pay much attention to these. I think I remember one of the Armageddon PPVs ('99?) having a great one. 3. Biggest Wasted Talent 1. Bret Hart in WCW 2. Raven in WWF. Those two are huge.. 4. Biggest Payoff (stars, etc. that led to something good) This seems kind of vague. Could be basically anything, no? One that comes to mind would be the Stephanie/Test wedding, which looked like it would be crap, actually had a great payoff (the video of HHH 'marrying' her) which led to a lot of great angles. 5. Best PPV Wrestlemania 14 and No Way Out 2001 are my favorites. 6. One reason why Raw (or smackdown) is better than smackdown (or raw) right now Raw is better for a lot of reasons. 1. it has a lot more star power 2. it is live 3. no canned heat which is very annoying on Smackdown 4. better announce team (Cole and Tazz are dreadful) 7. Funniest piece of unintentional comedy by WWF/E Rico - GET OVER HERE JEFF GODDAMMIT!
Guest notJames Report post Posted April 22, 2003 1. In your opinion, what was the best angle ever? Bret v. Austin; close second: Hogan/DiBiase/Andre/Hebner twins title debacle 2. In your opinion, what was the best pre-match promo (you know, ones before a PPV Match) ever, so far? The ones from the old Royal Rumbles, where they'd have a flurry of 30-second promos by most, if not all, the combatants. Funny stuff there. 3. Biggest Wasted Talent All time: Owen Hart; Current: Tajiri 4. Biggest Payoff (stars, etc. that led to something good) Warrior v. Savage, WM VII 5. Best PPV WM X-7 6. One reason why Raw (or smackdown) is better than smackdown (or raw) right now S!D rocks RAW because of the no-Clique factor 7. Funniest piece of unintentional comedy by WWF/E Goldberg stalling his car last night
Guest Coffey Report post Posted April 22, 2003 1. In your opinion, what was the best angle ever? The 3-way love triangle with Steph, H³ & Angle. Also: Austin/McMahon 2. In your opinion, what was the best pre-match promo (you know, ones before a PPV Match) ever, so far? I don't know, but I'm sure Hogan was in it. 3. Biggest Wasted Talent Ted DiBiase. How did he never win the title? 4. Biggest Payoff (stars, etc. that led to something good) Austin, Bret, HBK. 5. Best PPV WM17 was pretty good. 6. One reason why Raw (or smackdown) is better than smackdown (or raw) right now Cruiserweights, Angle, Benoit, Guerrero... 7. Funniest piece of unintentional comedy by WWF/E Unintentional? Jericho getting attacked by a fan during his entrance for a tag match on RAW. It was Austin/Rock Vs. Jericho/Taker. Jericho got attacked by a fan so then the camera man zoomed away real quick to takers entrance...during taker's entrance they showed Austin/Rock in the ring talking and laughing at Jericho. It was gold Jerry....GOLD!
