ROH results

Here are quick results to the ROH show tonight.

Christopher Daniels pinned Red with the Last Rites in the first match of the Round Robin.

Ace Steele/Colt Cabana beat Da Hit Squad with a double team Colt 45 on one of the Hit Squad members.

ROH Tag Scramble- Dunn/Marcos vs. Special K vs. EZ Money/Sterling James Keenan vs. SAT- SAT win with a Spanish Fly on Dunn.

CM Punk comes out to the ring, but one of Raven's stooges comes into the ring and hassles him. Lucy gives him a DDT and Punk cuts a promo on Raven.

Homicide beat CM Punk with a variation of the Regal Stretch in a number one contenders match.

Bruise Crew vs. Hotstuff Hernandez/Fast Eddie/Don Juan- Bruise Crew wins with a second rope double spike piledriver.

After the match, the Bruise Crew beats up Scott from Tough Enough who was serving as the guest time keeper and was in town for the Pittsburgh Comicon.

In the second round robin match, Paul London beat Red by the Styles Clash.

Alexis Laree beat Simply Lucious with an inverted DDT.

After the match, Michael Shane came out and said he was going to join the four way match to make it a five way.

Michael Shane vs. Chad Collyer vs. Matt Stryker vs. Donovan Morgan vs. BJ Whitmer- Stryker wins by making Collyer tap out to the Trailor Hitch.

Christopher Daniels won the round robin by pinning Paul London with a Moonsault. Daniels worked on London's mid-section the entire match, and London sold it beautifully.

Samoa Joe retained the ROH Title with a rear naked choke over Doug Williams. The finish fell flat with the crowd. After the match, the Prophecy stable laid Joe and Michael Shane (who came out to save) out.

I would have rather seen Michael Shane in the round robin tournament. Would have made just as much sense too give London/Shane's storied history and the feud between Daniels and Corino's group.

Hopefully Daniels/London was still good. I really can't see that match being any less then in the "good" range.

London v. Daniels sounds like it could be awesome- the rest sounds same old same old

I've only seen Red in TNA and he doesn't impress me at all.

Good to see that they were in my Old Hometown for this show. I would have killed to see CM Punk live.

I'm shocked. Truely shocked. Fuuuuck Red.

Anyway, I read the results at Observer last night...where do they get off calling it a ROH "house show"...I know they think they're big shit and all, but isn't every show a house show? It's a friggin indy!

Well they used to have a TV so I guess every show is a "house show" then

ROH runs their major shows in Philly for the most part. They give good matches to the Boston and Pittsburgh shows, but the supercards are in Philly, their homebase. So I can see how you would call it a spot show when they are outside of Philly or not running the anniversary show in NYC.

There just using it as a term to describe one of their smaller shows.

The FWA did the same thing for the tour they are currently on. They described it as FWA-2, or FWA house shows. They arnt taping all of the evnts though, whereas I assume ROH are.

Oh well, we all know what they meant by it, so thats the main thing.

Just seems a little high and might to call an indy show a house show. RF just bugs me to begin with.

I can see your point. Its probably the least confusing thing to call it though. What else could you say?

"ROH House show"

"ROH show that is not going to be as good or as big time as our other shows, but still will be good?"

I think that might lead to less tickets being sold lol

Not to mention that RF weren't even the ones calling it a house show. Meltz has called the last couple shows "house shows" when posting the results on his site sent in by a fan in attendance. Don't believe ROH has ever used the term 'house show' for any of their shows.

The guy who sends in the results is Green Lantern Fan, who's a major douchebag anyway.

Only problem with this show is that London should have taken both matches- otherwise it sounds good.

I hope as soon as this Homicide/Joe feud is blown off they take the belt off of Joe- his reign already screams "awful"- as in worse than Xavier's.

Why did they bother giving Joe the title anyway?

I would've done one more London v. Xavier match (maybe a ladder match) where London FINALLY wins the title and beats Xavier.

"The guy who sends in the results is Green Lantern Fan, who's a major douchebag anyway."

LOL. He doesn't send Meltzer reports. He posts times on the DVDVR board and for some reason, people seem to hate him for no reason.

"Only problem with this show is that London should have taken both matches- otherwise it sounds good."

Nah, London shouldn't have won both matches.

Daniels lost on 3/22 and 4/12.

London, in April, has an outstanding record:

4/5/03 Super 8 (3-0)

4/12/03 ROH (2-1)

4/26/03 ROH (1-1)

Total 6-2. Plus, unless this streak is leading to his payoff for the title (which it isn't), he shouldn't be pushed as an unbeatable.

"I hope as soon as this Homicide/Joe feud is blown off they take the belt off of Joe- his reign already screams "awful"- as in worse than Xavier's."

Yea, it sure does scream awful. I mean he carries Xavier to a good Title match and then faces Williams in what was called a good match.

And for Xavier's reign being bad, the 2 London matches and vs. Joe are perfectly fine matches.

I wonder what the top 5 rankings will be. I would make it-

1.Homicide

2.London

3.Daniels

4.Lowki

5.Punk or Williams

"Why did they bother giving Joe the title anyway?"

So a tweener (who can play both heel and face) is the champion is ROH. Makes sense, especially with the Prophecy leaning towards being faces and Corino's group being the major heel faction.

"I would've done one more London v. Xavier match (maybe a ladder match) where London FINALLY wins the title and beats Xavier."

No. Xavier beat London twice. People will PAY to see London chase the ROH Title and finally win it. Why blow that so soon? This isn't the WEEEEEEEEE. London is getting ready for a heated feud with Styles and then most likely will begin a quest towards the ROH Title.

As for a ladder match, keep the gimmicks with weapons for the undercard.

I wasn't saying take the title off Xavier at the March show.

Just keep having them both winning matches and build to a match later in the year.

Xavier was done heat wise by March. They needed a switch. It's just too bad his decent matches started late in his reign.

My mistake about GLF, somebody on the CZW board told me it was him.

Joe should never have gotten the title.

Every single one of his matches have bored me to tears, with the exception of the Low Ki match, which wasn't that great either from a technical standpoint. And I don't know where you got "reportedly a good match with Williams" from- every report I've seen said it was very flat with no heat, and the crowd hated the ending.

What SHOULD have happened is that London should have gone over Xavier at the First Anniversary Show back in February. That was the perfect time to end that title reign.

Hopefully at the next show Homicide takes it. While he's not the best option, he's a LOT more versatile and puts on vastly more entertaining matches- the Homicide/Punk match was reportedly MOTN.

The only thing I hate about ROH is that they put their top (and only) singles title on guys who are basically glorified midcarders while the stars of the promotion- Daniels, American Dragon, Styles, and now London, have gotten jack shit.

So because he bores you, he shouldn't get the title? Wow, because I could have sworn the pop he got when he took the title from Xavier was much more than a title switch pop. As for his matches, the Ki match has been the worst, mostly due to Ki. His 11/16 v Homicide was a fun match, 1/11 v Danielson and 2/8 v Danielson were both below their EPIC match but still good. Then he carries Xavier and Hotstuff Hernandez to watchable matches.

"And I don't know where you got "reportedly a good match with Williams" from- every report I've seen said it was very flat with no heat, and the crowd hated the ending."

I had trustworthy people who were there last night report that to me. Finish falls flat doesn't equal a bad match.

"What SHOULD have happened is that London should have gone over Xavier at the First Anniversary Show back in February. That was the perfect time to end that title reign."

No no no no no no no....If you are Vince Russo, you hotshot. Let me say this first, London should have never been in the ROH Title match in Queens. That said, they did the right thing by having him fight again lose but still maintain creditability. London winning the title does these negatives:

1- takes away from a title chase that will draw $$ for the company since London is the next big star

2- uses all of London's potential way too fast.

If anything, Ki should have been in the match and won the title but that is 20/20. But there is no justifiable reasoning for putting the title on London. If they did that, I don't believe London would stand where he stands today.

"Hopefully at the next show Homicide takes it. While he's not the best option, he's a LOT more versatile and puts on vastly more entertaining matches- the Homicide/Punk match was reportedly MOTN."

Nah, Joe will have a long title reign. Best business. It's cool to not like Joe but when he is over with the crowd, it says something else. As for Homicide, personally, I think he is nothing special but is valuable in some roles.

"The only thing I hate about ROH is that they put their top (and only) singles title on guys who are basically glorified midcarders while the stars of the promotion- Daniels, American Dragon, Styles, and now London, have gotten jack shit."

Again, you are missing the point. These guys are all over to the point where giving them the title wouldn't help them where as it will help the lower guys. It's the Dusty Rhodes way of thinking. He never put the tag titles on the Road Warriors because they were over enough to never need them.

I don't like the belt on Joe, Xaiver either...I think they're just going out of their way to get the belt on a guy who isn't overly established. Someone where it's a shocker that he has it.

Joe is established. He is plenty over with the fans. He came on 10/5 as a hired assasin. He was the centerpiece of the 11/9 six man tag. He was in the 12/28 main event 45 min draw. He traded wins with Brian Danielson.

The Xavier title reign came because of "Unscripted" and they wanted some surprises. People didn't like it but they didn't panic and it ended up working out fine.

Why does everyone hate on Xavier anyway Tim?

He's a good worker and at the show I went to he was drawing a lot of heat. I don't understand why people slag on him

I think people hated Xavier because he started out horribly. His title win on 9/21 vs. Ki was an absolute mess. His two matches on 10/5 and 11/9 v Jay Briscoe were crap, though Briscoe can be blamed just like Ki can for the respective matches. Then on 12/7, a way over babyface in Styles pulls something more of of Xavier and though still not even a **3/4 match, Styles rbings X up a bit. Then on 12/28, he works his best title defense against London is a legit ***3/4 match. On 2/8, he faces London again and they have a ***1/4 match, which was very good but a notch below the 12/28 match. Finally on 3/22, he has a ***ish match vs. Joe and loses.

If his matches had been good from the get go, people wouldn't have minded as much. When ROH brings him back after a few months and he is fresh, he should be pretty fun to watch.

Tim, who thought Ki was the one who really stunk in 9/21.

I agree with the last point about 9/21- I was there live for the Xavier/Ki match, and Ki didn't really play to Xavier's strengths (highflying/power moves) and stiff-striked him nonstop for 20 minutes. Obviously, when Xavier retaliated with his own strikes, in comparison to Ki they sounded horrible and the crowd shat on him.

There was very little actual wrestling in that match, just nonstop kicking, and some of the bus trip guys were picking up on that and rode Ki pretty hard.

Side note to that match, one of the guys I was on the bus trip with went to the bathroom during intermission and Low Ki was in there. Before the guy could say anything, Low Ki immediately said "Don't ask me about my match."
