Backlash Live Observations

Overall the PPV was an entertaining experience even though I am guessing it wasn't as good on TV. On to some observations.

There were obvious spots of open seats around the arena. Like 4-6 seats in a row not being sat in. Probably about 300-500 empty seats in the place which isn't a good sign for a wrestling 'hot bed' like the northeast.

During the O'Hair/Rikishi match the random booing you might have heard on the telecast was because there was about 3 beach balls going around and all were given to security. Yes, people in the crowd took the balls and gave them to security.

The crowds reaction to the stupid Rey/Big Show angle was pretty much laughter when he swung him like a baseball bat. It wasn't taken seriously at all and the crowd didn't even clap or really take notice to Mysterio being stretched out.

At the beginning of Cena/Lesnar the crowd was behind Lesnar but by the end they were clearly behind Cena. As Cena was leaving pretty much the whole arena was chanting his name, he of course is a hometown boy, about a 40 minute drive from the Arena, so that might have something to do with it.

The 6-man was probably the match that people were into the most with people popping most for Flair and HBK on entrances.

On to the main event. The crowd the whole night was pretty much behind The Rock. At the beginning of heat when they showed the video montage of the Rock/Goldberg feud Goldberg was booed. The Rock's promo was accepted with pretty much all cheers. As you probably heard during the match there were numerous Goldberg Sucks chants and Rocky chants. Along with a few Goldberg chants. However the crowd did pop pretty big for the win.

After the show went off the air The Rock said that 'we set a record tonight' a record for the quickest ass whooping he ever had. He made fun of a fat bald guy who gave him the finger. He put over Goldberg pretty big in the promo. And said that he has to go away for a while now but he would be back and thanked the crowd. Did the whole SMELL LALALA deal and then left.

Overall and entertaining show even though no Angle, Benoit, Cruiser matches.

It had to be that since he didn't work too great at all in there.

I heard that when Goldberg posed after the match, the crowd soundly booed him, and he left pretty pissed off.

Heh heh.

The Rock is class all the way to the end how many people would put another guy over massive in their leaving interview. The WWE is going to be a boring place without him but when he comes back he will probably be a face again which is a stupid decision as his heel character kicks ass

I'd venture to say The Rock is the best ever all round. Mic skills, in ring ability, workrate, look, selling, putting others over, ring mannerisms, crowd reaction and interaction and everything else taken into account.

He's got more ring ability than an Austin or Hogan. Better selling and putting others over than Taker...that includes all of his many years. Better look than Mankind. Better mic skills than a Randy Savage. He's got a bit more in all of these areas than Shawn Michaels. Bret Hart and Ric Flair. Out of the best, he is the best.

Nah, i wouldn't venture to say that. Rock is good however he ain't as good as Flair, IMO. Flair could carry anyone to a ***+ match, i don't think Rock could do that, sure his match with Goldberg tonight was half decent but i don't think he could top Flair.

No fucking way... The Rock is great and probably deserves to be in the top 10 of "greatest ever" (at this point in time) but there is no way in hell that he can be put over Ric Flair in that category. Flair was electric on the mic... Rock, while great, mainly just plays a comedic heel (or face) and just does what he does for laughs.

And in ring ability compared to Austin? No, I don't think so. Now? Yes, of course. He's healthier. But over all, compared to all of the years and all of the matches (including those in WCW and USWA) Ausitn's been in, Austin is definitely the total package when it comes to in ring technique.

I agree that Rock will go down as one of the greatest, and I would even throw my vote in for most charismatic... but the absolute best all around? No, not a chance

Overall i would put Flair,Rock,Austin,HBK as the top four overall Bret has mic skills holding him back which puts him just behind the other 4 IMO.The top 2 i would go for Flair and Rock,Flair had the better matches then i would put Rock just ahead on Mic skills,Flair on selling and Rock on Charisma and Ring presence with Flair just heading overall due to his out of this world ring ability and great mic work.

I enjoyed the show live as well. The beach ball stuff was hilarious...and I got on TV quite a bit as well.

It was a better time last night then at Rumble.
