Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted April 28, 2003 I don't have a big problem with the NHB folder, but that's where just about all of the +1 crap stems from
Guest J*ingus Report post Posted April 28, 2003 I'd rather they stay. I think they're kinda cute, especially how people make such a big deal over them. And I don't think it would cut down on posts of any kind if they were taken away.

Guest Choken One Report post Posted April 28, 2003 Well...I think it was me who started this NEW rash of get rid of the Post count sentiments... Because of my Quest for 25,000...I mainly only did that because Downhome or someone was all like,You oughta make a run for CWM or something... I never really took it seriously... But yes, Freeze the counts for NHB, OASAST and MAYBE even Site Feedback...
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted April 28, 2003 Yeah, especially the site feedback, I mean what kind of losers post there. And another thing...err...nevermind
Guest EQ Report post Posted April 28, 2003 I say keep post counts
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted April 28, 2003 I stand by my idea of deleting the post count of a random person once a week or month. It's the best idea I've read, which also has the potential to be entertaining. I think the forum needs a "Junk Drawer" folder where we can put stuff like NHB and post whoring threads.
Guest Bruiser Chong Report post Posted April 28, 2003 (edited) A "Junk Drawer" folder would just encourage more crap to be posted and then there'd be two key outlets for such thing. When's this thing end (Dames), cuz by the looks of it, post counts won't be going anywhere soon. Oh well, thought I'd try and throw something out there to make this place less cluttered with rubbish. I also think that having a "I Don't Care" option wasn't the wisest idea, since I've actually seen that win in some cases, which can open another can of worms. Besides, if you don't care, no need to even vote. Edited April 28, 2003 by Bruiser Chong
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted April 28, 2003 Well by "post whoring" threads I mean threads that aren't actual post whore threads but can be used to post whore like word assiociation. The "junk drawer" idea is just a place where you could put all the threads that need to have their post counting ability frozen.
Guest AndrewTS Report post Posted April 28, 2003 I think it helps identify newbies, gimmick posters, and flame-baiters. My personal post count isn't important to me, however.
Guest Jobber of the Week Report post Posted April 28, 2003 How does having post counts hurt anyone? I do know that NOT having post counts now would kinda disappoint me a bit. If you absolutely MUST, take them out of the thread displays. But at the very least keep them in profiles and member directory or something. I've never heard of a board that eliminated any trace of your post count. Usually they just close any post farming threads (ala One And Only Anglesault) when they become too obvious. I generally post in WWE, Current Events, and Video Games, and have my current number. I don't see anyone with a count I'd consider obscene except for Anglesault, and he probably posts in a lot more forums than I do.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted April 28, 2003 If we eliminate them, I demand some kind of trophy.
Guest SP-1 Report post Posted April 28, 2003 I say give the OPTION of whether you want it or not. But outright yank 'em? No. While they're unimportant, they tend to lend themselves to some joking and whatknot. And I like to have some idea of how much time I waste on here. Guest The Czech Republic Report post Posted April 28, 2003 I've never heard of a board that eliminated any trace of your post count. I believe Scott Keith took post counts off and changed all the titles to "User" for a few weeks towards the end of his reign of terror.

Guest Flyboy Report post Posted April 29, 2003 Fuck that noise. If any mod reads this... put my post count to zero.
Guest Bannable Offense Report post Posted April 29, 2003 Seeing as my post count just hit double digits, I guess I don't really care. However, I do echo sentiments that it should be an option to turn it off if an individual user chooses to do so, if that's even possible in this database architecture. I wasn't around then, but I think I heard that didn't go over too well with the "users." Heh, "didn't go over too well?" Five words = Scott's head on Hitler's body. As for the subject under discussion, I really don't care about my count or others, but I wouldn't complain if they are abolished. Of course, you could always make a rule of "No 'I have x number of posts' threads" and close and delete any that show up and give a warning to the culprit. Guest EQ Report post Posted April 29, 2003 I like the idea of having the post counts accessible through the personal control panel, but not the actual board itself. While it's not really a big deal to me, I'd just like to know if I ever got curious.

Guest PORNFAQ Report post Posted April 29, 2003 Who really cares whether you're a "newbie" or not as long as you contribute something worthwhile? Post counts are an unnecessary statistic (and that's all they are) made even more unnecessary when idiots start putting a whole bunch of stock in them when they ultimately mean nothing. Guest goodhelmet Report post Posted April 29, 2003 you really need to ask yourself... would i post less if there were no post counts? if the answer were yes then by all means get rid of the post counts. flyboy is the only mega-whore to downright say "fuck the post counts". if CWM was still around, with his 'first man to 10,000' sig, he would be defending post counts with his 32 alter egos. seriously... al of the lol, yeah me too, really?, j/k, i agree, i don't know, posts that seem to be fashionable for the whores would disappear since there would be absolutely no reason for them to happen. Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted April 29, 2003 -I remember when Post Counts were yanked from the old version of this board.. There was a huge outcry over it for about a week and then people got over it. I say they can go the way of the dodo bird...
Guest Flyboy Report post Posted April 29, 2003 flyboy is the only mega-whore to downright say "fuck the post counts". Your statement is flawed. Do I post whore? Yes. Did I post whore constantly? Yes. Have it trimmed down? Yes. When I do '+1' in a thread, aren't the threads usually shit? Yes. Plus, I never said "fuck the post counts". I said 'Fuck that noise'. Was I referring to post counts in place of 'noise'? No.
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted April 29, 2003 Will the "Don't Care" votes get added to the "Yes" votes? I say add them to the no votes. Because technically don't care means they don't mind things as status quo

Guest Midnight Express83 Report post Posted April 29, 2003 Post Counts are good for jokes. And bullshit, I say keep them before any bullshit happens. I think they should stay because they really don't mean shit. If threads like Road were closed I wouldn't care. It was mostly lyrics and bullshit. But if closed I would move on. I just fool around in threads that are shit, and threads with actual content, I post content. All the "whores" do the same. The +1 bullshit is to explain that stupid threads that need to yanked are made and the sole purpose of people posting in them is to either bump their count or to just show how much bullshit is in them. Hell, if you want, you can make mine a negative number. Start me at -2500 and I wouldn’t care that I would ever hit a positive number.
